Killian

As the night wore on, he’d practically worn a track in his living room carpet with his pacing, and he could no longer stand to be alone with his thoughts.

An unshakeable sense of uneasiness grew in his gut, and it demanded action.

He climbed into his car and felt immediately comforted by the rumble of the engine.

He put the car through its paces as he pointed it towards Zentroa.

The increased traffic on the streets and sidewalks outside the Council Building heightened his unease. He slowed as he passed the Council Noticeboard, and his eyes widened as he scanned the notice:

Resonance Ceremony

Leseldh and Ivy Idthraki

Tonight

Killian’s rage exploded to life within him. He slammed on the accelerator and sped off into a side street to park the car. He hurried back to the Council Building, trying to smother his panic.

What would happen when Leseldh claimed Ivy during the Ceremony—could they truly be Resonant Vampires? And if so, what did that mean for him? The idea of losing her to Leseldh Idthraki made fire burn within his very veins.

Killian harnessed that feeling as he walked through the Council Building’s revolving doors.

He was ushered to the open area beneath the Announcement platform, where a small congregation of people had already formed.

Killian scanned the crowd, seeing mostly Vampires, a few curious Shapeshifters and brave Human folk.

He shifted towards the outer edges of the throng and kept to the shadows.

The Ceremony was yet to begin. At least I’m not late. He wondered if Ivy was already here and how he could get her out of Leseldh’s clutches.
