Chapter 40 Killian

Killian
Killian, you’re my Resonant. The words reverberated through him and filled him with an unparalleled joy.
From the moment Killian had tasted Ivy’s blood the previous night, he knew something had changed between them.
He was scared to ponder the extent of the change, and even more terrified to voice his suspicions to Ivy directly.
He’d been attracted to Ivy from the moment he first saw her, and with every interaction the attraction intensified.
But to have found a Mate; a Resonant… it seemed too good for someone like him.
When she said she wanted to taste him, he hesitated. What if she didn’t feel the same? How could he go on being denied the thing he desperately needed in order to feel whole? Because after he drank from her, he realised that she was integral to his life, and now he had a name for it. Resonant.
“I know. Because you’re my Resonant, Ivy.” Ivy’s resulting grin made Killian’s eyes well with joyful tears.
She kissed him and it felt both familiar and brand new. He felt tears slip free from his eyes, and when he pulled away, her face was also wet with fresh tears.
The only thought that threatened to ruin the perfect moment was the memory of the Ceremony that Leseldh staged tonight. Leseldh’s ridiculous display filled him with searing-hot rage, but he locked it away in a compartment of his mind to draw from when he needed it most.
He focused on being present with Ivy. His Resonant.
