Chapter Voresta
Voresta
Voresta knew it was a matter of time before they were found, but he was surprised it took Ivy and Killian as long as it did. He was thankful for the delay, though, because it gave him time to ensure his plan was flawless.
Voresta watched as Ivy, Killian and Finare walked into the old, abandoned square, each with expressions of concern on their faces. Seeing his Broodmate with them confirmed where Finare’s loyalties were. Good. That makes this easier.
His opponents neared, and he remained obscured in shadow as he waited for them to enter his trap.
Ivy was dressed in running gear with her long hair tied back.
She was ready for a fight. Killian was dressed in his usual uniform of all black, but he had a bandolier of knives strapped to his chest, in addition to the dagger on his leg.
Finare looked the least prepared; he wore his usual attire of jeans and a leather jacket, but he bore no weapons.
Voresta wondered why he was even here if he wasn’t prepared for battle.
Voresta appraised Ivy and Killian more closely and was blindsided by their evolution.
Their status as Resonant Vampires was obvious, even without Ivy’s prior admission of the fact.
They had a magnetism towards each other, and while each appeared strong on their own, they were also fortified by each other’s presence.
It made him realise how blind he’d been to what was building between them, and shame washed over him.
He gave it a brutal shove to the side and stepped out into the open to face them, his grin overwhelming his features.
“Took you long enough to get your asses here,” he snarled, fixing them with a glare as he stalked towards them. He watched the trio fan out, with Killian and Finare flanking Ivy. They took up defensive stances and Voresta stifled a laugh at the sight of them.
“We didn’t think you’d scurry to Oaris with your tail between your legs,” Ivy spat. She stood tall with her hands on her hips, and her green eyes glittered with defiance. Killian aimed a smirk at Voresta, and he noticed Finare’s eyes were scanning the surroundings warily.
Voresta chuffed in response, but before he could speak, Ivy continued.
“Where’s Zeldy?” Ivy’s lips spread into a grin.
Voresta almost choked at the nickname, but he bit back his retort. “He’s safe.”
“Not for long.”
Voresta’s eyes flashed at Killian’s threat. “Leseldh is the least of your concern right now.”
“You think you can take all three of us?” Killian’s voice dripped with disdain.
“I don’t need to.”
Voresta offered them a predatory smile which flashed his fangs.
He allowed his eyes to drift beyond the trio, and what he saw made him thrill with excitement.
The trio of Vampires followed his gaze, and he saw their shoulders sag when they spotted the line of Night Market guards that had silently taken up position behind them while he kept them occupied.
