Chapter Eight Gavin

Chapter Eight

Gavin

Emily stood not far from where I was leaning against the wall, staring at me like a deer in fucking headlights, especially since I’d told her I didn’t want to go see my grandmother yet, because doing that meant leaving her and I wasn’t ready for that.

“If you’re not ready to leave . . . then what do you want with me, Gavin?”

Fuck.

That was a dangerous question.

The truth was, I wanted her naked.

I wanted her legs wrapped around me.

I wanted to thrust inside her pussy.

Those thoughts, along with this raging hard-on, were the reason I hadn’t left the hallway, that I’d moved outside the doorway of this patient’s room, waiting for her to come out.

“Are you sure you want to know the answer to that?” I bent my knee, pressing the bottom of my foot against the wall, keeping my arms crossed to stop myself from reaching for her.

“It’s either that or go to my next patient’s room so I can check on them.” Her eyes narrowed as she looked at me. “But would you follow me there?”

I let out a short laugh. “Probably.”

“Why?”

Wasn’t that obvious? Couldn’t she tell I was on the verge of fucking eating her?

I’d done everything I could to get her body out of my head.

All that made me do was think about it more.

“I think you know why,” I offered.

She shook her head. “Just the opposite, Gavin. I know nothing that’s going through your mind right now.

All I know is that the other night was a one-time thing.

A way to fill your needs. And a way to fill mine.

We had that conversation and agreed to it.

So I think you can understand why all of this”—she traced the air between us—“goes against everything we talked about.”

She was either being honest, or she could see right through me and wanted to hear my confession. Regardless, she deserved an explanation.

“You’re right, I didn’t have to come here to thank you. I could have called the rehab center or my grandmother’s phone and spoken to you that way. And giving you my appreciation face-to-face is certainly more personal . . . but it goes beyond that.”

“How?”

I released a loud breath. “I wanted to see you.”

“You’re seeing me.”

When I exhaled again, my cheeks puffed out. “Oh, I am.”

“Gavin—”

“Do you know why my arms are crossed? So I don’t reach for you and put you against the wall and strip your clothes off.

I don’t care that we’re in public and this is your place of work—it’s taking that much restraint to keep my hands away from you.

” My gaze dipped down her body, a body I hadn’t stopped dreaming about, and I banged the back of my head into the drywall.

“All I can smell is you. All I can see is you. All I can fucking feel . . . is you.”

“I thought we had an understanding.” Her tone was teasing me.

I nodded. “We did.”

“And you’re telling me you want to break that one-night commitment?”

“I’m telling you . . . I want a taste of you.” I gripped the back of my neck, the need so strong, the crossing of my arms wasn’t enough. “I fucking need a taste.”

She moved against the wall beside me, the position of her tongue at the corner of her lip taunting me in a way I couldn’t fucking handle. “I’m not a drug, Gavin.”

“Tell my dick that.”

She laughed. “I’m serious.”

“So am I. I haven’t been able to get you out of my head, Emily, and I’ve tried. Fuck, I’ve tried. So I’m back for more, and I hope to hell you want the same.”

A smile came across her mouth. One I hadn’t seen on her before.

“How will I know that after this, you won’t come back a third time?

Or a fourth? Because even though I told you I want to date, I don’t know if hooking up with my best friend’s soon-to-be brother-in-law is really the best move.

” She held her chin. “The last thing I need is for things to be messy in even the slightest way. You and I need to be able to be in the same room together. I can’t avoid their wedding or baby shower or holiday party or whatever because I don’t want to see you . . .”

“I don’t want that either.”

She put her shoulders back, her tits automatically sticking out, and every fucking part of me noticed.

“So we’re both on the same page?” she questioned.

“I’ve already told you, I don’t do this. Ever. I can’t even believe I’m fucking here right now. So yes, we’re on the same page.”

Her smile turned into a laugh.

“What’s so funny?”

“You.”

My dick was making my patience even thinner than normal. “What about me?”

“You’re expecting me to fuck you right now.”

“That’s exactly what I’m expecting.”

She glanced behind her before she said, “Gavin, I’m at work. I can’t do that.”

“How is work a problem? Aren’t there any unoccupied rooms here? An office? Or just say the word and I’ll kick my driver out of the car and we can go in there.”

She sighed. “Denis, that poor man, would never mentally recover knowing what had just gone down in his office.”

She was wrong. Based on the conversation I’d had with Denis several days ago, he would be pleased to know I’d gone back for more and that all his observations were correct.

“Offer a solution.” I glanced at my watch. “You have less than a minute, or I swear, you’re going over my shoulder and right into the back seat of the Rover.”

She bit her lip before she hissed, “Relentless.”

I focused on her mouth, the way she’d roughed it up with her teeth, and I wanted to do the same to it. “I know you find it hot that I’ll do absolutely anything to have you.”

“I never said I didn’t.”

I didn’t want to stop looking at her, but I did to glance at my watch. “Fifty seconds, Emily.”

“My shift ends in a couple of hours. You could come to my apartment and—”

“No.” I couldn’t live with this hard-on for another minute, never mind a few hours. “I want you now.”
