40. Drew

DREW

The first thing I register is something warm pressed against me.

I’m still halfway asleep when I shift closer instead of away.

It feels… good.

Natural.

That’s what wakes me up.

My eyes open slowly.

The room is dim, the TV playing quietly in the background.

Everything clicks into place… except that there is someone in my arms.

My body goes still.

I don’t move. Don’t breathe.

Because I already know before I look down.

But I do anyway.

Violet is curled against me. I swallow hard, staring down at the top of her head, her hair spilling across my arm, soft against my skin.

My arm is wrapped around her, keeping her close.

When I shift slightly, I feel it.

I look down to find my leg hooked over hers, holding her in place.

My chest tightens.

She’s still asleep.

Curled into me like she belongs there.

Like this is normal and not completely insane.

I should move.

Say something.

Wake her up.

But I don’t.

Because the second I think about pulling away, something sharp twists in my chest. Like I’m about to lose something.

My arm tightens around her.

Jesus. What is wrong with me?

I lie there a second longer, trying to make my body cooperate with the voice in my head telling me to move.

It doesn’t.

A few seconds later, she shifts.

Her hand slides against my shirt, fingers brushing over my chest.

Slowly, her eyes pop open. Her gaze locks on mine.

A soft, easy smile curls her lips.

She looks content, like waking up in my arms is the most natural thing in the world.

“Hi,” she says quietly.

My brain short-circuits.

“Uh—” I clear my throat. “Hi.”

She doesn’t move right away.

“I should probably go—”

“Don’t.” I clear my throat, hating how quickly the words spilled from my lips. “It’s late. Just… stay.”

But it’s not about her driving home late at night.

I want her here.

She studies me for a second. “Okay.”

I relax, but my arm hasn't gotten the message. I’m still holding her tightly, like I’m afraid she’ll leave.

She shifts, and her leg bumps my cock. He hardens instantly.

I suck in a breath, expecting her to recoil.

Instead, she gives me a sexy smile. “Sorry.”

I’m not sure that she is.

My blood runs faster, making him so hard it hurts. I really hope she’s not sorry.

“Violet,” my hand lifts, gently pushing her hair away from her face.

“Drew.” Her eyes drop to my lips, lingering there for a few beats before lifting back to mine. “Kiss me,” she breathes.

I groan, my lips crashing down on hers. She pulls me even closer with a whimper that makes me lose control.

God, she tastes good.

Her leg slides higher, grazing my aching cock. I deepen the kiss, forgetting everything else.

Her tits are crushed against my chest. And the cover has slipped lower, revealing tight jeans that hug her figure.

She whimpers—fucking whimpers—"Drew," and I squeeze my eyes closed, praying I don’t embarrass myself in my pants.

My hands begin to roam, touching her everywhere I’ve dreamed of since the moment she entered my life.

She gasps, and my tongue slips inside, tasting hers.

She clings to me, nails digging into my back through my shirt. But I don’t give a shit. Not when I’m this close.

I pull back slightly. “Violet.”

Her eyes are dark and needy, sending me completely over the edge.

“Touch me, Drew.”

My hand slides up her shirt, then under her bra. When I feel her hard nipple, I squeeze it, and she moans.

“Are you worked up because of me?” I ask as my lips graze her neck.

She throws her head back, giving me better access.

My teeth graze her skin, feeling her pulse hammering beneath my lips.

“Why don’t you find out?”

I pull back, studying her face.

My eyes are locked with hers as my hand slides down her quivering belly. I want to sink my teeth into every inch of her.

I don’t.

Not yet.

Violet shifts, removing her leg from between mine. She spreads them, offering herself to me.

Goddamn.

My fingers shake as I work on the button of her jeans. It takes longer than it should for me to have it undone. Her zipper is a little easier.

And then, my fingers dip into the waistband of her pants, feeling silky, warm skin against my palm.

“Did you dream of me touching you, Violet?”

She nods. “Hell, yes.” Her hand slips to my face. “You have no idea how much I’ve dreamed about you. Touching you. Feeling you inside me.”

Jesus Christ.

I groan, my forehead falling against hers.

“You’re so damn beautiful, Violet.” The words slip out before I can stop them.

But they’re true.

My fingers are beneath her panties, sliding against her wet slit.

Goddamn.

She’s drenched for me.

And hot.

So damn hot.

She closes her eyes, her expression pure bliss.

“Open those gorgeous eyes,” I rasp. “I need your eyes on me. Let me watch you come,” I say, running circles around her swollen clit.

Her eyes open, locking with mine. “Oh damn, Drew. That feels so good.”

I grin, angling my body so I can see everything—every gasp, every shiver, every moan.

I want all of it. All of her.

I twist my hand, sliding a finger inside her wetness. Her hips arch, her legs spreading as wide as her tight jeans will let them. We could take them off, but neither of us seems willing to move. Almost like we’re afraid to break the spell.

She moans as I slide another finger inside her.

“Oh, hell,” I pant, my lips inches from hers. “You’re so tight. Does that feel good?”

“Yes,” she sobs, her hands in my hair. Her body rocks against me as she chases the pleasure.

I love watching her lose control.

Ever since I met her, she’s been calm. Collected.

But the way she’s rolling her hips against my hand, arms wrapped around me, clinging to me, she possesses none of that. The woman who always seems two steps ahead of me doesn’t look like she’s thinking at all right now.

Christ, I can’t wait until she’s naked in my bed, legs spread wide, no barriers between us.

“Drew, I…”

“I know. I feel you tightening around me.” I move my fingers faster. “Do it, baby. Come all over my hand.”

Her head falls back, lips parting as she lets go. My name escapes her lips before the sweetest cry I’ve ever heard comes from her.

She convulses, bucking against my hand, her body quivering.

She finally stills, slumping against me, boneless.

I stare at her in awe, wanting to watch her fall apart over and over again.

Her eyes are heavy as she blinks at me, her cheeks pink in the TV light. “Wow.”

I slide my fingers out of her, slipping them inside my mouth, tasting her. I moan around them, my eyes still on her.

Her eyes widen slightly before they heat again.

“That’s hot,” she whispers.

I clean them off, then remove them.

“You know what’s even hotter?”

Before she can say anything, my lips press against hers. She gasps and my tongue slides in, letting her taste herself on my tongue.

This feels right.

Too right.

But I can’t make myself care right now.

I blink against the light streaming through the window.

It takes a moment for the cobwebs to clear, but then memories of last night flow through me, jerking me awake.

Violet is still curled in my arms, sound asleep.

Shit.

I squeeze my eyes closed.

I made my potential stalker orgasm on my hand.

That’s… probably not a good idea.

When I open my eyes again, she stirs, her eyes popping open. A small smile curls her lips.

“Good morning,” her voice is raspy from sleep. The sound shouldn’t excite me as much as it does.

“Morning.”

She pulls away slightly and grabs her phone from the coffee table by the couch. She blinks at the time, then sets it down and stretches.

When she looks at me again, her expression is neutral.

I can’t read her.

At all.

“I have to run home and handle a few things,” she says, her voice calm. “But I’ll be back later.”

Back.

Later.

Like she'd already decided this was home.

My thoughts are jumbled as I try to make sense of it.

My grip loosens just slightly. Just enough that I can pretend I’m not holding onto her.

“Okay,” I say, because apparently that’s the only word my brain can manage.

She pulls away from me entirely.

And the second she does, the space feels cold. Empty. Wrong.

I sit up, trying to catch up to reality.

It doesn’t come.

Behind me, Luna stretches lazily along the armrest, completely unbothered.

Violet stands, zipping and buttoning her jeans. Then she smooths her hands over her shirt as if nothing happened.

I exhale sharply, dropping my gaze.

Like I didn’t make her come hard on my hand in the dead of night.

I roll my shoulders. My eyes flick to her again.

She’s already moving toward the door.

“Violet,” I say before I can stop myself.

She pauses, turning back to me. “Yeah?”

I hesitate.

I don’t even know what I’m trying to say.

Why it feels too fast, but not enough.

Why I want her to stay, but know she should go.

“I’ll… see you later,” I finish instead.

Her smile deepens slightly. “Yeah,” she says. “You will.”

And then she leaves.

The door clicks shut behind her.

And the house feels different.

Too quiet.

Wrong.

I stare at the space she left behind.

And the worst part?

I’m not trying to forget it.

I’m trying to figure out why I wanted her to stay.
