11. Chapter 10

T he double date was a massive success. Natalie and Spencer finally had a breakthrough, and they were off to extend their date one-on-one. Carter sat beside me. He wasn’t his usual jovial self, but even he seemed to have some fun.
As we got closer to his place, I just couldn’t take it anymore.
“I’m sorry for blindsiding you tonight. I thought it would be good fun," I said to Carter.
He reached over the console and placed his hand over my right hand. “It was, especially when I stopped thinking about my little sister being there and started to think of her as Spencer’s date.”
I giggled. He was such a typical older brother sometimes. Knowing there was the potential for all four of us to be under one roof tonight, I said, “I hate to break it to you, but Natalie has had sex before.”
He turned his head and replied, “Nope. In my book, she’s never been kissed.”
That just made me laugh even more. He was acting like a child, but it wasn’t out of malice.
“Did you completely forget that Spencer totally kissed her when we were waiting for our cars, or did you go temporarily blind at that moment?”
He snorted. “Blind. That’s my baby sister, and there are certain things I just never want to think about. Her having sex or even kissing anyone in a romantic sense is number one on the list.”
That was completely fair.
I pulled into Spencer’s house and parked behind Carter’s truck. We walked in, and I went to the sofa as Carter poured me a glass of wine and himself some water into a matching wine glass before joining me. It was part of our normal foreplay, so it meant the world to me. But it made me curious.
“So what would happen if Spencer brought Natalie back here?”
He shook his head and stared into his water-filled wine glass. It always amused me how he would pour wine for me and water for himself after our first date. It seemed like a thousand thoughts were going through his mind, and I needed to know what he was thinking about.
“I don’t know. It might make me sound like a dick, but I would much rather if he slept over at her place. There's just certain things I don’t need to hear."
I chuckled. When he put it that way, I couldn’t blame him.
