Chapter Twenty
“ W hat do you mean I only have five months to get ready for them?!”
So, fun fact.
Apparently, pregnant women pee.
Like a lot.
At all weird fucking hours of the night.
Combine that with Midori’s whirling emotions from her brand new fated mate, and well… you get two obnoxiously loud women in the kitchen drinking way too much coffee– although mine is actually tea, and I am just pretending– and conversing about weird shit way too fucking early in the morning.
“As I said, Forsythia. You are already over three months along. Twins tend to come a little earlier than if you were pregnant with a single baby, so I would say you have about five months left in your pregnancy.” Midori takes another sip of her coffee, and suddenly I want to smack it out of her hands.
“But… but I just found out I was pregnant yesterday!” Instead of smacking the coffee, I snag a fluffy muffin off the table and throw it at her. It pegs her right in the boob.
“Hey! I am just trying to help you!” She snatches a grape from the bowl and chucks it at me, hitting me right in the forehead.
“Woah! What is going on in here?” We both turn and spot the three sleepy-eyed males sharing worried glances from the kitchen doorway.
Without meaning to, we both fling the edible weapons straight at Blake. My orange hits him in the chest with a bit of a splat, and Midori’s croissant proves to be a little bouncy as it hits Blake in the shoulder before hitting Ronan in the abs.
Both men look completely shocked by our actions.
Which naturally causes us to break into a pants-pissing fit of laughter.
By the time we are both gripping our sides, two of the men look completely unphased by our shit. While my giant is trying so very hard not to join our laughter.
“Really, ladies?” Ronan asks, raising his eyebrow.
“She started it!” We manage to yell and point our fingers simultaneously. Causing another fit of laughter.
The baby– or one of them, at least– takes this opportunity to join in the fun and little butterflies dance across my skin. I snatch Midori’s hand and bring it to my belly, hoping to share this moment with her.
“They are strong. Like their mother.” I look up at her as happy tears fill my vision. She cups my cheek with her free hand and uses her thumb to wipe away a tear that breaks free. “You are so much more ready for them than you realize.”
She quietly stands and heads with Ronan back to their room.
I stay in place, rubbing circles around my pouch of a tummy, and am soon joined by both of my mates. Lucian hugs me from behind, placing his hands just underneath my breasts. Allowing him a chance to touch without hogging all the space. Blake surprises me by getting on his knees in front of me and placing a kiss on my navel.
The moment is so sweet and calm, so… normal. I loose myself in it. After a few moments of serenity, Blake picks me up and carries me to our room where he gently lays me on the bed.
After closing the door and setting the lights low, Lucian insights a heady moan from me as he works the pads of his thumbs into the arches of my feet. Blake crawls onto the bed behind me and begins working the tight muscles in my neck and shoulders.
I’m not sure what I have done to receive this kind of worship, but it feels so divine. So I choose to accept it.
Sinking into the bed, I let my thoughts pull me away.
I have lost so much in such a short time, but it saved the lives of so many.
Those we lost will never be forgotten. we will live on happily in their memories.
Can I really lead a village of random magickals in a peaceful cohabitation?
Can I be the mother to my children, that Elswyth would be proud of?
Can I make my mates happy and keep them on their toes for the rest of our lives?
“Can you never fucking stop rubbing my calves? Oh Gods that feels amazing.”
Both men chuckle. I guess I do talk out loud more often than I mean to.
I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I guess we will find out.
