Chapter 27 – Killian Adler

Killian Adler

"W hat if she doesn't like it?" I ask, swiping a hand over my face.

"She's going to love it," Sunde says, glancing around the huge room.

Years ago this room was used by Cannon's parents pack. It was their main bedroom. Packs are different, some all sleep together in one giant puppy pile. Others have one shared space and then separate individual bedrooms. Others only have individual spaces and the omega migrates for sleeping.

This has always been my dream. I glance around at the massive bed. Had to have the mattress special ordered. It's about the size of two king sized beds. Maybe I should have reduced the size? I want Riley to be forced to cuddle with us. Every. Single. Night.

There are three guys and our sweet little omega.

Okay, four… if Jasper ever realizes he's gone for our girl.

I think I did good on the size. If couples normally share a king size bed then for four or five people you'd want two king sized beds.

I shake my head. I'm freaking out a little. I really fucking hope she likes it.

The upstairs is set up with the pack bedroom taking up the entire width of the house. It has a small deck that looks out over the cliffs, which is only accessible from this bedroom. It's absolutely the best view in the entire house. There's also a fancy as fuck nest off the giant bathroom.

We did some basic set up, but omegas like to have a say in their nests so we have to get that finished fast. Riley's heat is coming on quick as hell. Her scent becomes sweeter every single day. She's also horny as fuck, but none of us are complaining.

Cannon and Sunde have bedrooms upstairs, but they're on the opposite side of the house. I don't think Riley has ever been over on this side. Shit, I hope she's happy. I need her to be excited. To love it here and never want to leave.

Blowing out a breath, I take in all the new furniture. Some of it was in the works before Riley made it to us. But it was made with my hopes and dreams in mind. Riley has slid her way right into that spot, wrapping her way so deep into our future that I don't think I can let her go.

It's all hand made by me and my dad. The long hallway that dead ends in this bedroom has two other bedrooms and a bathroom. We set up one for the girls. I figured Riley would feel safer having them in one room and having it be close by.

"Do you ever plan to go retrieve her?" Sunde asks, smirking. "Or do you plan to stand there losing your shite forever? She's going to love it. Truly."

"Fucking hope so," I grumble.

"Cannon's bringing Riley up," Jasper says, poking his head in the door. "Thirty seconds max."

Sunde and I stand blinking at him and he sighs.

"Come along children," he says to us. He's got Lily strapped to his chest in a baby-backpack of some form. Baby chest pack? Hell if I know, but he's also holding Cove's hand. That man is seriously fucking oblivious…

"Come on, Mr. Finn," Cove says, wiggling her chubby little hands. "Kiki." She's so damn exasperated I can't help, but start laughing.

"Oh shi-" Jasper pauses, eyeing me carefully. "Oh ships, he's finally lost it."

"Come along," Sunde says, patting me on the back.

We all stand in a cluster around the nursery we set up for the girls.

Cannon guides Riley toward us, she's pulled in close to his side and he's grinning down at her like he's just as fucked as the rest of us.

Jasper fucking Cleary is strapped into a baby chest pack and he's chattering away with Cove.

Yup, we're all good and fucked.

"This isn't ominous or anything," Riley says, making a goofy face when she sees us.

I hold my hand out and she rushes me, easily coming to me for a hug. I bend down grabbing Cove and hold her between us.

"Oh right," Sunde says, leaning in and kissing Cove and then Riley. Granted his kiss for Riley is much more involved than the peck he laid on Cove's cheek. He slips through the door and I'm assuming he's getting his phone ready to snap pictures.

"This my surprise?" Cove asks, squinting and trying to legitimately turn me into a caricature of the Grinch.

"Sure is," I agree, turning the handle and pushing open the door.

It's been convenient having Riley away for work a few nights a week. It was a breeze setting all this up without her noticing.

"Whoa," Cove says, she wiggles and I let her down to run into the room. I pull Riley in behind her.

The walls are a soft lavender color that Felicity picked out. Painting the room is the only thing we hired out. I can paint furniture all day, but walls are a completely different story.

I was going to hire someone to paint decorations on the wall, but again my mom came through assuring us she had it handled. She magicked up some wall stickers from one of her craft machines. They're absolutely perfect.

One wall has Cove's name in light silvery white cursive with a bunch of kawaii style dolls or girls, hell if I know. There's a ballerina, an angel, a fairy, the list goes on.

The other side of the room has Lily's name in the same font and a variety of animals in the same style.

My mom swears she's partial to them. I already mentioned how my dads and I occasionally ignore her delusions because she's usually right about the important stuff…

Yeah, I'm going to go out on a limb and say four month old Lily didn't pick those animal stickers, but whatever.

They look great and match Cove's style on the opposite side of the room.

"This is your surprise," I say, leading Riley over to the glider. "It used to be Felicity's, but she wanted you to have it." I brush hair away from her face. Riley is looking a little shell-shocked. Maybe this wasn't a good surprise.

Is she even ready for the girls to be away from her? Shit. I overstepped again.

"We don't have to put them in here immediately," I say, hedging my words. "And you don't have to use the chair. I made you the sliding footrest, but the chair my dad made Felicity years ago."

Riley spins around and her mouth is hanging open. About a half a second later, I'm holding her while she kisses me all over my face.

"I love it. Thank you. It's amazing," she says, each part punctuated with a kiss. I blow out a breath of relief.

"Mommy come look at my bed," Cove shrieks. "I gots my own pillows!"

"I have my own pillows," Riley corrects mindlessly as I place her back on the floor.

Cove is stretched out on her bed, grinning. "Thanks Kiki, I love it."

"Good," I rumble.

Jasper takes a seat in the glider. Sunde is snapping pictures. Cannon watches with a soft smile on his face.

"Come show me your toys," Jasper says to Cove. He nods to the toy box. "I heard that might be full."

Cove claps and squeals. Sunde captures her before she can make it to the box. "Now just one moment," he says, grinning. "These are our courting presents for you, Button."

"That sounds kinda creepy," Jasper says, frowning at Sunde. He's patting Lily and gliding in the rocker.

"Ignore him," Sunde says, tickling Cove's sides. "We very much like having you here. Do you like it here?"

"Yes, I do," Cove says, nodding and trying to wiggle to get down.

Cannon snatches her up and flies her through the air over to the toy box. "Can we court mommy?" he asks.

"Yes!" Cove shrieks, finally making it to the giant toy box. "These all for me? Whoa!"

"That wasn't under duress or anything." Jasper snickers.

Cannon covertly flips him off while Cove isn't looking.

Riley's softly grinning, but looking a little overloaded. I pull her to my chest and guide her out of the room.

"There's a camera set up in the corner facing Lily's crib. The video receiver is in here," I say, nodding to the door at the end of the hallway. I show her the hall bathroom on our way by. It has a nice tub she can bathe the girls in.

"You've got more to show me?" Riley asks, swallowing.

"Yeah, sweetness. There's more," I hesitate. "Unless you're too overwhelmed?"

"No, I'm good," Riley says, giving me a weak smile. She's totally overwhelmed, but that's okay too. She's eventually going to realize she deserves all of this and more.

Omegas are the foundation of a pack, everything else is built around them. I've seen the beauty of it all when I was growing up. Being close to her gives me a peace I haven't felt since I pushed myself too far, back when I was trying to make a name for myself fighting.

"Kills?" Riley asks, tilting her head and blinking up at me.

Am I being too pushy? A pack bedroom is a stretch isn't it? We haven't even ridden out her heat yet. There's no telling if she wants to be permanently bonded.

I nod, glancing away. "Sorry, I think I'm nervous."

"Don't be," Riley says, squeezing me tight. "It's from you, there's no way I won't love it."

Fuck, I hope that's true.

I guide her into the bedroom.

Riley spins in a circle and her jaw drops. "It's a pack bedroom?" she whispers. "Holy shit, I've seen pictures of these. Never actually thought I'd see one in real life. Ohmigod, check out this bed!"

"Told you," Sunde's melodic voice sounds from behind me.

"Is it two king sized mattresses pushed together?" Riley asks, kneeling on the edge.

"One big ol' special ordered mattress," I say, grinning.

Thank fuck. She likes it.

"Oh good, we won't lose anyone in the crack. Killian this furniture is incredible," Riley says, bouncing on the bed on her knees. "Also this mattress is the real deal, super plush."

"Want to see the nest?" Cannon asks, leaning over and brushing his fingers over her cheek tenderly.

Riley's eyes widen almost comically. "I've never had a real nest before," she whispers.

All three of our jaws fall.

"What?" Sunde stammers.

"I used my closet in emergencies," Riley says, shrugging.

That pisses me off to an unreal level. Omegas need a nest. Oftentimes the first real indication a child will be an omega comes from their ability to sense emotions. The second is a need to build a safe place to retreat to.

"Let's check it out," I rumble, lifting her from the bed. She wraps herself around me like a sweet omega and I walk us to the nest.

"It's still pretty basic. We want you to set it up like you want it," I warn.

Riley simply climbs up my torso and rubs her cheek against mine. She scent marks me and then switches to the other side doing the same. I grin over at Cannon. She's becoming possessive and I fucking love it. She's starting to claim us. It makes me smile like a damn fool.

"This is the walk-in closet," I say, nodding to the middle door. "The door on the right is the bathroom. And this is the nest."

The entryway has wooden flooring. It goes in a semi-circle around the nest opening.

The ceiling is a decent height here, still around seven feet.

To the right is a door that goes directly behind the closet and into the bathroom.

It's a small hallway to make it easier for her to get to the bathroom without needing to leave a confined space.

It makes me a little claustrophobic since I'm practically scraping the ceiling, but Riley lights up as I show her the tiny passageway.

Back in the entryway is a circular sliding curtain.

It's thick and heavy. As I slide it back Riley claps.

The nest itself is a small space, I'd guess eight by nine feet.

Big enough for a small pack, but no extra space.

The back wall has a large picture window, but it has an electric shade panel that when lowered completely blocks out any light.

Riley dives into the nest like it's a ballpit. Luckily the floor is a thick cushioned material that's waterproof. It's not nearly as soft as it looks, but Riley squeals in delight.

Cannon crouches and knee walks across the floor to her. He pins her to the floor for a dirty kiss. Sunde is still snapping pictures and he quirks an eyebrow at me with a playful grin. Yes, one day we will absolutely all have Riley at once.

Today is not that day.

Jasper of all people is watching the girls. He's probably fine for small bursts of child care, but a couple of hours… Ehh, I'm not convinced.

"Do you love it, darling?" Sunde asks, crawling over and shoulder checking Cannon out of the way. Cannon growls playfully.

"I do," Riley says, leaning up and kissing Sunde.

"Good," Cannon says, helping her up. "We have a few more things for you. Not much, it's just a few basics to start setting up the nest."

"Thank you," Riley says, running over and wrapping herself around me. She's so open with her emotions it's refreshing. I hold her tight and kiss her forehead.

"Gonna go check on Cleary and the girls." I nod back to the girls room. "Make sure they aren't getting sugared up on Mountain Dew or Red Bull."

Riley snorts. "He's not that bad," she whispers, slapping my chest playfully. She cocks her head, reconsidering. "Okay, but if he did something that ridiculous make sure he's not holding one of my kids before you get him."

I grin at that. She's my absolute favorite person. Shit, it's quick. My dads said when you know, you know. And I have no doubts. I know.

My pulse picks up so fast I can feel it thumping in my neck and ears.

I fell in love with Riley.
