Liam: Just started listening to the audiobook of Persuasion at my last training session
Liam: All my teammates keep asking what music I’m listening to. You should see the looks on their faces when I tell them it’s Jane Austen
Kendall: Haha I can imagine
Liam: Okay, Anne’s dad sucks. What a jerk.
Kendall: Lol you’re not a fan?
Liam: Nope. First, he talks her out of her engagement with Captain Wentworth. Then he spends all their family’s money. I officially hate the guy.
Liam: First impression of Wentworth: solid guy
Kendall: Totally agree with your assessment of Anne’s dad. I don’t like what he did either.
Kendall: Aww you like Captain Wentworth! Yay!
Liam: He comes off like Prince Charming compared to Mr. Darcy. Nowhere near as awkward
Liam: WTF
Liam: Kendall, WTF kind of book are you making me read?
Liam: JFC I’m gonna be sick
Kendall: Wow. What a string of texts to read with zero context
Kendall: I have no idea what you’re talking about, Liam
Liam: Anne’s cousin is trying to date her??!!

Liam: Um, why is no one in the book grossed out by this????
Kendall: Things were kind of different back then. You could marry your cousin and no one would bat an eye
Liam: Fuck, that’s gross
Liam: I need to take a break from reading this book
Kendall: You know, there are some states in the US where it’s legal to marry your cousin
Liam: *vomiting emoji*
Liam: You’re kidding, right?
Kendall: Dead serious. Look it up if you don’t believe me.
Liam: Okay, I just looked it up, now I’m going to puke for real

Liam: Okay, I took a break for a couple days, I think I’m ready to dive back in
Kendall: Aww proud of you. You get an A+ for effort
Liam: Damn. The tension between Anne and Wentworth is THICK
Kendall: So good, right?
Liam: These two still have it bad for each other, it’s so obvious.
Liam: I officially hate the cousin fucker dude.
Kendall: Thank you for making me spit up coffee in a staff meeting while I was trying to discreetly read your text
Kendall: Coffee everywhere. All my coworkers thought I was choking
Liam: Lol sorry
Liam: Seriously though, CF is a piece of shit.
Kendall: CF?
Liam: That’s what I’m calling the cousin fucker from now on.
Kendall: You could just call him by his name, William Elliot
Liam: Nah, I like cousin fucker better. It has a certain ring to it.
Liam: But I’m shortening it to CF so I don’t make you choke again

Kendall: I appreciate the consideration
Liam: God, I hate CF. He made Mrs. Smith’s husband go into debt. And he totally screwed her over. Didn’t leave her anything when her husband died. What a crook.
Kendall: Yeah, he’s the worst UGH
Liam: Oh shit…
Kendall: What? Is everything okay?
Liam: Wentworth eavesdropped on Anne and heard her say she still has feelings for him!
Kendall: Wow, you’re reading so fast. You’re already almost at the end
Kendall: I love that part!
Liam: Couldn’t help it, I got sucked in
Liam: Okay, he’s gonna tell her how he feels now
Liam: Wait, he writes her a letter? Why doesn’t he just tell her how he feels?
Kendall: Letters were pretty common during that time.
Liam: That would drive me fucking nuts. Just tell me how you feel.

Kendall: Come on, you have to admit that the letter Captain Wentworth writes to Anne is EPIC
Kendall: Greatest love letter in history, if you ask me. Even better than my favorite love poems
Liam: So I just read the love letter
Liam: HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Liam: You were right. That was epic. It gave me chills
Kendall: Really??
Liam: Yeah
Liam: ‘You pierce my soul’
Liam: Jesus. I felt that shit
Kendall: RIGHT?
Kendall: I get chills every single time I read that line
Liam: I mean, I’d marry the guy if he wrote me a love letter like that. Plus, he’s got money

Liam: Wait, he helps Mrs. Smith too?
Kendall: Yes! He’s amazing, isn’t he? He goes out of his way to make sure she’s taken care of *swoon*
Liam: This fucking guy
Liam: I’m in love with Wentworth
Kendall: Aww I knew you’d love him.
Kendall: I feel like we just had book club via text with how much you messaged me while reading
Liam: We’re still meeting up. I need to talk to you about this book
