Thirty-Six

“Charlie,” I moaned, trying to stand up but unable to due to the amount of blood I had lost. I laid on the floor of the kitchen, forcing myself to stay awake as I tried to reach into my pocket to get my phone.

My side hurt from where I was stabbed, but for whatever reason, I was still alive.

I was caught off guard when the man came in this morning, and I didn’t even think about it when he walked into the kitchen like he had no care in the world.

The only way he would have been able to get inside the bar was if he had come in when Ashley was coming in.

Given that I hadn’t seen her, I knew he had done something to her as well.

My heart ached at not being able to get to Charlie and Molly the way I needed to.

I pulled my phone out, struggling to stay awake as I swiped my finger across the screen. I pulled Jo’s name up and pressed the button to call her, the calm and darkness taking over me before I could tell her what was wrong.
