EPILOGUE

MASON

Three weeks later

––––––––

My hand reaches out to Lexi as we sit opposite Mark Harrow and his team of lawyers. My high-powered team sits on either side of us, dwarfing his.

There’s a very strong chance this will break the contract we have, but Lexi is my priority, and I’m clear as day that she’s the woman I am spending my life with.

I’m worth billions, and at some point in life you realize what’s important.

When she told me the entire story and how Johnathan had forced himself on her in the stairwell just before setting her up to steal the money, it supercharged my commitment to making sure the asshole was exposed and charged.

With the additional information, the private investigators were able to start digging further and speaking to people in the office.

The risk wasn’t as big as Lexi panicked about.

“Babe, you never have to work again. I’m marrying you. Relax.”

“That’s now how this works,” she argued.

“It’s exactly how this works. Start your own business. Buy a business. I don’t care.” I threw out my hands. “This jerk is not going to get away with what he did to you. You don’t need a reference for a job.”

“This is your penthouse. Your money. Not mine.”

“Fine, pay rent.”

Lexi pouted.

“Exactly. So, my beautiful soon-to-be-wife—”

“You haven’t asked yet.”

“You wouldn’t say yes yet.” I grabbed her and pulled her onto the sofa with me, flipping her onto her back. “But you never say no,” My fingers slid under her panties. “So for now I’m happy.”

“Sex is not a manipulation tool.”

My fingers slid inside, and she turned to putty.

“Okay, baby.” I grinned, sliding down her body and widening her legs.

When my tongue swiped through her wet pussy, Lexi arched off the sofa and moaned.

Not a manipulation tool, my ass. It was the very best.

After a week, my investigator called to say they’d found an employee at Harrow Engineering who saw Johnathan follow Lexi into the stairwell and nudge her against the wall. He thought they were having an affair.

Another woman said he’d done the same to her months ago.

That was enough to speak to my lawyers and reach out to Mark Harrow and set up this meeting.

He wasn’t happy.

“We have enough to take this to litigation. Enough that a judge would find the lack of proof, the witnesses who cast enough doubt on his person to see this thrown out,” Gareth, my senior solicitor, says.

Mark looks my way, then quickly at Lexi.

“You are in a relationship with her.”

I nod.

“Why bother with all of this?” he asks, “You risk our business relationship and the contract when a gag order is in place to protect both parties from being reputationally damaged.”

“Yet it didn’t, did it Mark?” Lexi snaps. “You made a comment to Mason, which nearly cost me everything.”

I slide my hand onto her thigh, giving her my strength.

Mark's cheeks heat, and the Englishman looks uncomfortable.

“I never breached the contract,” he stammers.

“Borderline, Mr. Harrow,” Gareth says. “And you are very well aware of that. However, Ms. Grant and Mr. Kinglsey are here today to clear her name and ask that you press charges against Johnathan.”

When he looks surprised, I shake my head.

“Mark, the guy set up an innocent employee, has sexually harassed multiple people on your team and stolen fifty thousand pounds from you,” I press. “You told me I’d lose my fortune. Remember?”

I am close to climbing across the table and throttling the guy with his own tie.

“Dick,” Lexi mutters.

She’s not wrong.

“And Ms. Grant wants an apology.”

Mark’s eyes widen. “How were we to know?”

“First, maybe investigate like we have done. It didn’t take much to get people talking. Yet you made me feel like a criminal after being used and abused. You are just as guilty.” Lexi slams her hand down on the table. “I could sue for damages.”

I’m so fucking proud of her.

“This isn’t America, Ms. Grant,” he snaps.

I’m so disappointed with his reaction. I glance at Gareth, nod, then push my chair back. I slide Lexi’s out, and she stands. Placing my hand on the small of her back, I look across at Mark, who is losing confidence by the second.

“Obsidian Nexus will no longer be doing business with you. My legal team will be in contact to dissolve the agreement.”

“We will fight it,” he challenges.

I smile. “Great. Waste your money. I will win.”

I always win.

I lead Lexi out, the three lawyers who flew over with us in my private jet, filing out after us.

LEXI

––––––––

Turns out Mason Kingsley is a prince after all.

The day after we fly home to New York, Johnathan is arrested for corporate theft and charged.

Mason told me when he got home. I asked him to fire his chef so I could cook.

I’ve always loved cooking, and right now I have nothing to do. Colt, Drew, Zander and Sebastian have all offered me roles in their companies at Mason’s insistence, but I want to take a moment to decide what to do.

Staying in New York with Mason is a huge change.

Waking up with him every day is a dream come true. He loves me with his whole heart. I see moments where he falters, the fear rising to the surface. But I grab his cheeks and say talk to me, baby, and somehow being present with the things that scare us allows us to move through it.

One day he will propose.

We will both be ready when it happens. For now, spending my days and nights with him, and working out who we are as a couple, and for me as an individual after these past few months, is enough.

“Wow, that was fast,” I say, undoing his tie and tossing it on the counter.

“As fast as you undressing me when I walk in the door.”

“Clothes are optional. You said that.”

“I was meaning you walking around our home.”

“Well, I think the same rule should apply to you.” I smirk, pushing his black Tom Ford jacket onto the floor.

It’s far too pricy to do that, but I’m eager to get to his broad muscular chest...and he has fifteen other suits in his enormous closet.

“I’ll buy you a nudist beach.”

“No thanks. I don’t want to see other people’s naked bodies. I want to see yours.” I laugh, undoing his pants.

Mason snaps. Finally.

He tears up my skirt, lifts me onto the kitchen bench and tugs down my panties. His cock is hard when he unzips.

Then slides slowly and surely inside me.

“God, yes.” He sighs, his mouth landing on mine. “How was your day, beautiful?”

“Better now,” I smile, tearing his shirt off and running my hand over his strong, delicious shoulders.

His thrusts are steady, his eyes burning with arousal—my own matching his, I’m sure.

“I’m going to come inside you, eat dinner, then we are going away for the weekend.”

God, the way he can have a conversation while fucking me is insane.

“Oh, yes, deeper. Harder. Mase. Fuck.” I clench my fingers.

Wait.

Going away?

“Where?” I moan, tightening my walls around him, arching for more.

“My Hamptons house.”

I bloody knew it! He has a beautiful big home in the Hamptons, and I can’t wait to go there.

We both fall apart at the same time, shuddering and moaning, and stars fill my eyes as the haunting vision I once had of Mason with his future wife and kids is finally replaced with me.

Turns out he was my prince after all.
