Norm

The bouncers barely glanced at Norm anymore.

He pulled into the rear lot behind The Candy Club, tucked his delivery van into his usual spot beneath the flickering streetlight, and killed the engine.

A breath, deep and familiar, filled his lungs with the sticky Atlantic City air and the anticipation that always curled inside his belly on Friday nights.

“Hey, Norm,” Big Tony greeted as he approached the back entrance. The bouncer gave him a nod that was half respect, half amusement. “Right on time.”

Norm offered a lopsided grin and raised his hands. “Wouldn’t miss it.”

Inside, the club was alive with movement- music pounded through the space, a rhythmic heartbeat that seemed to resonate with his own. Darkness clung to the corners of the club, punctuated by sporadic flashes of light that illuminated writhing forms, skin glistening with sweat and promise.

The bartender slid him a ginger ale without asking. “How’s the route tonight?” she asked, leaning forward just enough to give Norm a flash of cleavage. Not for flirting- more for effect. That was the way of things here. Everyone played their role.

“Hot. Long. Worth it.” Norm replied, eyes scanning the stage. The girls were working the pole, one after the other like petals blooming under neon light. He knew most of them. Had their shoes displayed on hand made shelves in his living room.

They knew him too. Norm wasn’t flashy. He didn't drink too much. Didn’t touch unless invited. But he tipped well. Paid generously for things others overlooked.

Like shoes.

Norm is the kind of man you might overlook at first glance- but once you notice him, you can’t stop noticing him. There’s something in the way he lingers.

He’s tall but not imposing. Broad shouldered in his uniform, with forearms that stretch the sleeves and a rounded belly that hints at too many fast-food lunches behind the wheel.

His beard is thick but well-kept, peppered with silver.

His eyes are pale- an icy blue that seems too intense for someone so quiet- and they always drift downward.

To the ankles. The arches. The exposed toes in platform heels.

They called him Foot Guy behind his back, maybe to his face too, but Norm didn't care. He knew what he liked, and he liked what they gave him- used heels, sweat-slicked soles, and the lingering scent of the stage on worn leather and cheap plastic.

"Evening, Norm," came a voice as smooth as cognac, rich and warming.

Lola approached, her every step an indelible imprint upon his memory.

She stood before him, her body a testament to the craft she had honed, yet it was her footwear—a pair of burgundy heels with straps that embraced her ankles like a lover's caress—that held his attention captive.

"Good evenin,’ Lola," he replied, his voice soft.

Their banter wove between them, light and effervescent, like the bubbles in champagne.

Her laughter cascaded over him, a melodic counterpoint to the club's sultry bassline.

Norm's cheeks flushed a deeper shade, his gentle nature bared in the genuineness of his grin.

"Those are new, aren't they?" he ventured, nodding toward her feet with the shyness of a schoolchild unveiling his fascination.

“Only the best for your discerning eye," Lola teased, performing a delicate twirl that made the jewels adorning her shoes catch the light in a shower of sparks. She knew of his peculiar interest, yet there was no mockery in her tone, only the warmth of shared secrets.

They conversed with the ease of old friends, two souls momentarily entwined in an oasis of acceptance and mutual respect.

Norm, with his well-versed knowledge of heels and buckles, savored the moment as one would savor the last drop of a fine wine—an encounter as intoxicating as the atmosphere that enveloped him within the walls of The Candy Club.

His mind wandered unexpectedly, drifting into the dim alleys of memory where his mother's presence was overwhelming.

She, too, had worn those kinds of shoes—tall, sophisticated, embodying her bold sensuality.

The rhythmic click of her heels on the wooden floor reverberated through the years, blending with the intoxicating scent of her perfume—a potent mix that had stirred something within young Norm.

This awakening had left him both captivated and uneasy, a shadowy allure tinged with the unsettling reality of his mother shaming him for trying on her shoes and prancing about.

"Admiring the view?" Destiny's voice sliced through his reverie, tinged with mirth. She perched beside him, her own shoes—a pair of patent leather stilettos—crossed at the ankles, knowing full well the effect they had on him.

"Always," Norm replied, his face lighting up despite the lingering shadows of his thoughts. "You know I can't resist."

Destiny tapped her shoe playfully, a twinkle in her eye. "So, how's the collection coming, Norm?" she teased, fully aware of his insatiable desire for shoes imbued with the soul of a performance.

He gave a crooked smile, eyes never leaving her feet. “Growin nice. Nicer if I had those.”

Destiny laughed, a sound that shimmered in the dim light. "These old things?” wiggling her toes.

He blushed, a soft chuckle bubbling from him. "They ain’t old. They're broken in. That’s different. Got that curve I like...little scuffs in all the right places.”

“You always talk to shoes like they’re women, or just the ones you want?” she quipped, rising from her seat with a wink, her stilettos gleaming.

He chuckled, a little red in the cheeks. “Only the lucky ones.”

"Once I've given these beauties their moment on stage, they'll be ready for your collection."

Norm watched her retreat back to the stage, her confidence leaving a trail of sparks in its wake. His heart swelled with the simple joy of connection, of shared moments between kindred spirits navigating the tender balance of desire and distance within the sultry embrace of The Candy Club.

Norm's gaze drifted from the mesmerizing twirls of Destiny to a figure at the edge of the stage.

Amethyst, a dancer with deep violet streaks in her hair, faltered ever so slightly during her routine.

It was a moment most would miss, but not Norm.

His astute eyes caught the brief flinch, the slight grimace that marred her usually flawless performance.

With a gentle pivot away from the crowd, he caught her eye and offered a warm, almost imperceptible nod—a silent signal of support.

As Amethyst's posture realigned and her performance regained its fluidity, Norm felt a quiet pride in his ability to perceive the unspoken.

His attentiveness to the dancers' well-being stretched far beyond the allure of their high-heeled silhouettes; he valued their comfort as much as their craft, and it showed in the subtle ways he acknowledged their humanity.

Norm settled deeper into his chair, the plush fabric embracing him like an old friend.

The Candy Club, with its heady blend of sensuality and secrecy, had become his refuge.

Here, amidst the pulsating beats he found a world where his peculiarities were not just accepted but celebrated.

The club's dim glow cast a veil over the mundane reality of his life, replacing it with a canvas rich with hues of desire and fantasy.

The night unfurled around him, a symphony of seduction and solace, and Norm surrendered to its embrace. He knew that outside these doors, the world awaited with its harsh light and sharp edges, but within this cocoon of warmth and whispers, he was home.

He sipped his ginger ale, the cool liquid grounding him as he let the world outside fade to a distant hum.

Here, in the throes of night, he was part of something larger—a symphony of desire where he had his own place among the crescendos and decrescendos of passion played out on the stage before him.

The Candy Club was his anchor, his haven, and for now, nothing else mattered but the sweet surrender to the sanctuary he cherished.

His gaze flitted across the stage, the dancers merging into a kaleidoscope of flesh and fantasy.

But even amidst the dizzying display, his focus tunneled, homing in on a solitary figure descending from the spotlight's embrace.

With the grace of a siren returning to the depths, she approached, her steps silent but for the click of heels that whispered secrets only Norm understood.

"Hey there," she purred, her voice a velvet ribbon wrapping around his senses. "Thought you might like a closer look at these." She gestured to the shoes—a pair of stilettos, scarlet as sin, with straps that wound up her ankles like ivy seeking the sun.

His pulse quickened, the sight igniting the familiar ember of desire within him. This was the moment he savored, the anticipation before the acquisition.

She settled into the chair opposite him, her eyes locking onto his with a playful glint.

With deliberate slowness, she extended her leg.

Her hands, graceful and delicate, began to caress her ankle, tracing gentle circles on her skin.

With a teasing smile, she slid her fingers along the curve of her shoe, the high heel glistening under the ambient light, before sensuously slipping it off, revealing her bare foot.

She revealed her toes, perfectly manicured with a tantalizing scarlet red polish, and handed the shoe to him with a sultry smile that hinted at her understanding of his ritual.

Norm cradled the shoe, his eyes tracing the elegant arch, the delicate stitching that held together this work of art. His touch was gentle, almost worshipful, as he admired the craftsmanship, the way the shoe had molded to her movements, an extension of her alluring form.

"Beautiful," he murmured, not just to the shoe, but to her exquisite toes.

Norm's eyes were drawn to her feet, admiring their perfection. The sight of her toes, delicate and enticing, sent a wave of arousal crashing through him. The dancer, seeing his reaction, raised her foot to his crotch, gently rubbing along the length of his growing excitement.
