~Chapter 33~
Elara pov:
I stand with my shoulder against the door frame, not moving any closer. There's no need.
I hear everything.
They both think they're talking softly, but to my ears... to my blood... to what I am... every whisper is as clear as if they were standing in front of me.
Cassian laughs softly.
His tone is warm, sure, more confident than he has been in days, even weeks.
Something in him has settled.
Something has connected.
And I can feel it before he says a word.
I breathe slowly, controlled.
I am a wolf.
I am not allowed to react until I understand what is happening.
“Brex… is the uninvited guest in my head.”
When I hear that name, my fingers involuntarily tighten on the edge of the holster.
Not enough to hit the wood.
Just enough to steady myself.
Brex.
A name that doesn’t belong in the human world.
Not even in the world of ordinary wolves.
It’s an old name.
Only worn by wolves who haven’t shown their physical form in centuries.
A name that was still spoken in our pack when Ash and Niko were young and crazy.
A name that, theoretically, had no business here.
But Cassian calls him natural.
Like he's his friend.
Like he's... present.
I hold my breath for a second.
Sergio starts asking questions.
Typical of him.
He panics first and hides his fear in me.
Cassian answers calmly.
Too calm.
Too like a young wolf who is just now realizing that he feels differently than the rest of the world.
And that… makes my skin prickle slightly.
I don't mind that my boy is growing up.
I don't mind that he is becoming a man.
Nothing about his development bothered me.
But something much more specific bothers me:
I wasn't the one who told him what it was.
I didn't control his awakening.
I didn't decide the moment.
And this in our pack… it's dangerous.
I press myself a little closer to the wall, without making a sound.
I have learned to become one with the silence.
To watch from the shadows.
To analyze in silence.
Sergio continues to speak:
“Can he hear me? Or can I hear him?”
I hear his quiet laughter
He is not nervous.
He is relaxed.
As if that presence… makes him feel safer than me.
I bite the inside of my cheek lightly.
Not out of jealousy.
I’m not the type.
Out of instinct.
Brex is no plaything.
He’s not a name to walk around with.
He’s not someone who comes without a purpose.
But Cassian accepts him.
He recognizes him.
He talks about him as if he’s normal.
And that tells me something I can't ignore:
The wolf in him has awakened.
Not completely.
Not visibly.
Not physically.
But mentally?
Yes.
It's there.
And I, his mother, did not guide this awakening.
Niko and Ash did not guide it.
Someone else did.
Or something else.
Sergio makes a joke about how Emy looks when she's nervous.
Cassian laughs.
His laugh is clean, natural, not forced.
That's the first clue.
A wolf that is starting to wake up… laughs differently.
Breathes differently.
Moves differently.
And Cassian does all this.
Exactly as he wouldn't have done a few days ago.
Then I hear them talking about high school.
About how Emy scolded them at recess for coming without notebooks, or in Spanish class.
Cassian laughs and says:
"Oh, Emy is more of a wolf than all of us.
"
Sergio says something back, but I don't listen to him anymore.
Something else strikes me:
He senses wolves.
Without knowing they are wolves.
He senses what we are.
He senses the differences between us.
I can't ignore this.
I take a step away from the door.
A single step.
Just long enough to let my mind sort itself out.
I have a decision to make..
I'm not going to get in their way. It would ruin everything.
Young wolves, even those who don't know they're wolves, hate interruptions when they're in this calm state.
But I have to do something.
I have to talk to the Alpha.
The two of them.
Ash and Niko.
Not to ask for their approval.
I don't ask.
I inform.
They are alphas, yes.
But he's my boy.
My boys.
Blood of my blood.
And I have every right.
I take a deep breath.
I completely detach myself from the door frame.
I don’t look back, I don’t put my hand on the doorknob, I don’t feel the need to look at them.
It’s enough that I know.
Cassian has changed something around him.
He changes.
The energy changes.
The air changes.
And the name “Brex”…
That name is just the beginning.
I head for the stairs, my footsteps barely touching the floor.
I’m calm.
I’m not scared.
I’m not nervous.
I’m… in strategic mode.
The calculating she-wolf.
The member of the pack who doesn’t blink when big things are about to happen.
And big things have happened.
I reach the top of the stairs, mentally roll the thought over just like I was taught as a child, and send the message:
“We need to talk. It’s about Cassian. I think it would be best if we met in person.”
And for the first time in days…
I feel like things are just beginning.
---
I entered the main house from the pack and went straight to the conference room.
It was something important
Something about the future.
About my children. My child.
I knock on the door and enter.
Alpha was already there with my family here, Kael and Valerius and next to us were Emy, his girlfriend, and Colby, Sergio's friend.
"Can you sit down, Elara, please" Ash says and I sit in the chair next to my husband.
"What did he bring to this conference?
" Karl asks and I look at him a little angry that they didn't give Alpha the right to ask that but he reassures me after his presence here. .
“I heard everything that happened in Cassian’s room,” I say, my voice calm but firm, looking at Alpha and the others.
“And what I sensed… is more than just a guest in his mind. Cassian reacted naturally. Calm. Too calm for what would be normal. And there is a possibility… rare, but real.”
I hold up a finger, emphasizing the gravity of the words.
.”Brex is not just a voice. We can’t rule out the possibility that he could be.
.. a Lycan"
Colby frowns. “Lycan? What exactly do you mean?”
“A Lycan,” I continue, without losing my authority, “is not an ordinary wolf. It only appears in extremely rare situations, usually when someone tries to steal the soul of an Alpha. Slightly larger than an Alpha, 5-10 centimeters long, but its strength is triple. It regenerates incredibly quickly and can completely overpower an Alpha if we are not careful.”
I look at everyone, my eyes piercing.
“We have no certainties, but the energy around Cassian… the signals are there. We need to be prepared. And we need to act strategically, as soon as something goes beyond normal limits.”
The silence that follows is heavy. I know everyone understands the gravity of the situation. I am calm. I am not suffering, I am not panicking. Domin. I am analyzing. And for the first time, I feel that what is coming is much bigger than any scenario I have ever had before.
Kael leans forward, interested and cautious.
“So what do we have here… is it possible that Brex is a Lycan?”
“We can’t say for sure,” Niko says, keeping his tone calm.
“But Cassian’s energy… is not normal. It’s more than what would be normal for an imaginary guest,” he says, “we still don’t know exactly why the reds took this from him. ”
Emy props herself up on her elbows, looking at me and Alpha.
“Cassian has changed since that party. And on vacation, in Spain… he was different. More attentive to details, more sure of himself. It was like he could feel our energy. He laughed differently, he reacted differently, even though he was distracted and had a few mental and physical breakdowns.”
Colby adds, shyly but firmly: “I felt it too. He wasn’t scared of small situations anymore, like he used to be.
It was like he knew who he was and what he wanted.
And his laugh… is more… complete. It’s different after he came to school. ”
I look at Alpha. Niko’s jaw clenches, Ash crosses his arms, but both of them remain calm, a clear sign that their mental analysis is in full swing.
“We have to be careful,” I say. “We can’t scare him.
We can’t intervene too soon. But we can’t ignore what’s happening either.
”
Kael sighs. “So we let him get used to Brex and observe. But if he’s a Lycan, we need to have a plan in place right away.
”
“Exactly,” Ash confirms. “We don’t have any hard evidence, but we need to be prepared for anything.
Cassian could be sensing the wolves and the energy.
If Brex is something more… we need to be ready to intervene.
”
Emy tilts her head. "But he's calm.
He seems to have control of the situation in his head.
He's not crying, he's not panicking. He's calmer than before.
And that shows that... he's ready to deal with it, at least a little bit, because he feels who he is," she says but pauses, "and he's been pretty close to Sergio for a while.
Maybe that's helping him calm down." Colby nods.
"Yeah. But that doesn't mean he's completely safe. We need to be prepared."
Valerius rests his chin on his hand, considering.
“So the bottom line: we monitor, we protect, but we don’t intervene unless there’s real danger.
And, yes, we need to watch Cassian’s every reaction.
”
Ash nods in agreement. “Yes. We need to be careful. If it’s a Lycan…
it’ll take all of our vigilance. Not just physical, but mental. ”
I look at everyone and feel a strategic silence settle in.
Everyone understands the gravity of the situation.
It’s not just a kid laughing differently or having a voice in his head.
It’s something more. And if we’re not careful…
it could be dangerous.
“So what do we do now?” Emy asks.
“Do we let him handle it on his own or do we try to guide him?”
“We’re watching,” I reply.
“And we’re preparing for any eventuality.
But we’re not going to intervene until we have clear evidence.
We don’t want to scare him. And if something comes up, we have the Alpha, you, the rest of us…
and me. We’ll act immediately.”
Kael nods slowly.
“Perfect. We stay coordinated, attentive, and check every detail.”
Colby adds, smiling slightly, “And let him find his rhythm with Brex, no pressure.”
“Yeah,” I say.
“But no one ignores what’s happening. The signals are clear.
The wolf in him has awakened, mentally at least. If Brex is a Lycan…
it’s going to take all our resources to protect him and control him. ”
We stand for a few seconds in silence, each lost in their own thoughts, each analyzing what comes next. I am calm, calculated, dominant in my own way. Because he is my son. Because my blood feels everything.
And for the first time, I know that what comes next is not just about Cassian. It is about the entire pack. And about what might come if Brex is not what he seems.
---
I'm downstairs in the main living room of the house
I'm drinking some tea after I'm done talking.
I'm feeling a little nervous but I have the situation under control.
I see Kael coming towards me so I smile maliciously, and take a sip of the tea that I knew was warm but is cold now
"Mom" he says and sits down at the table with me.
I nod. "When do we tell him about us? About me.
About dad...I'm too lonely" he says and that tears me in half, in two.
"Ugh....it's hard Kael. This situation is getting worse every day but I promise the boys will accept you" I say and take my child in my arms.
"What if he doesn't accept me?
What if I'm pushed aside? What if.." I don't let him finish and I interrupt
"Enough with the 'what'.
Honey, you'll see that he'll be close to you, to us" I say and kiss his forehead.
He nods and nods. I lose sight of him after a while and something comes to mind.
These are tough times for everyone right now.
For the Alphas and for Colby, that they can't stay with their partners.
For us, their family, that we have to stay hidden from them.
For the pack, that they have to stay alert and other concerns about everything
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here I mean that I thought about the phase that "obsidian", is practically the pack, her name.
But I passed obsidian as a club because the other people, Normal people, only knew him like that, but you will find out more about him and other things during the story (I hope).
Another thing I want to say is that Elara does not differentiate between children, Kael, Sergio and Cassian are all the same to her, only with Kael she behaves more.
..differently, because when he was little he was alone, not like Cassian when he was with Sergio and vice versa.
But I mean you don't see a difference between them.
And regarding his age, he is 18. Because Cassian and Sergio are born in the same year but on different days.
!!!IMPORTANT: that werewolf is not 9 months and only 5 months, that explains it!
!!
According to my calculations, I would say that one of them has his birthday in June and the other in November-December and Kael should be born in the following year, his birthday should be in May.
And I'm still thinking about whether to do the MPREG story or NOT, it's a tough choice
