Chapter 36

“What do you mean you can’t give out sender information? I don’t care about confidentiality!” I shout over the phone.

“Easy, easy, easy,” Casper says, prying the phone out of my death grip. “Christ, you have fucking zero customer service skills,” he mutters under his breath.

Casper holds the phone to his ear and puts on a big fake grin. “Hi, I’m so sorry about that. Who am I speaking with?” he asks the florist. This dude thinks he can charm anybody. He’d flirt with a great white just for kicks.

“Gloria . . . Damn, that is a beautiful name.” He’s using the same voice he uses when he tries to pick up women. To be fair, it does have a surprisingly high success rate. He fake laughs at something the florist says.

Casper sighs, chuckling, and then locks his sights on me. “You’re right, I am way nicer than that other guy. That was my boss. He can be a real asshole, huh?”

He laughs again.

I’m growing impatient.

“No, he’s not mad at you. He’s mad at me because I made a mistake with his flower delivery—Sorry, this might be incredibly inappropriate, but has anyone ever told you how sexy your voice is?”

I roll my eyes. Gloria sounds like she’s smoked four packs a day since 1987.

He does that stupid laugh that women lose their minds over and then continues. “Oh, well I’m so glad I could make your day. Let’s see if you can make mine, yeah?”

I fold my arms and give him a chin lift. “Hurry up.”

He reclines in his chair, kicking his feet up on my desk and crossing his ankles. This is his way of telling me he’ll take as long as he fucking pleases.

“Okay, I’m going to level with you, Gloria.

This is my first week at a new job, and I was supposed to send out a bouquet of roses on behalf of my boss—the grumpy one, but I think I might have sent them to the wrong address .

. . I know . . . Yeah, a dozen red roses were supposed to go to Kelly Everhart at Black Bourbon Distillery, but they said they haven’t received them. ”

“Uh-huh . . . I see. Well, that’s the crazy thing, I don’t remember.

No, unfortunately I can’t find my confirmation number. Could you look it up by my name perhaps? Yeah, it’s Jason . . .”

Casper snaps his fingers at me.

“Seleigh. S-E-L-E-I-G-H,” I supply.

He repeats the name to the florist. “You’re a godsend, Gloria. Thank you so much for looking into this for me.” He covers his hand over the phone’s speaker. “Jesus Christ, she would have been Kelly Seleigh?” he whispers to me.

Doesn’t quite have the same ring as Kelly Teller. As much as I would love for her to take my name, it would be a shame to see the Everhart dynasty come to an end.

“I sent them to Kelly at Black Rabbit?” he says. My eyes dart to his.

“Today, right?” he asks, and then Casper nods at me.

I’m gonna kill that motherfucker.

“You’re an angel, Gloria. Well, suppose I still have a job after today, should we grab dinner sometime?” He pauses. “You’re breaking my heart. Tell that man to appreciate you, or I’ll have to swoop in.” More bullshit laughter. “You know it . . . Okay, bye now.”

He ends the call and throws my phone at me. “You’re fucking welcome.” I catch it on my chest before it falls to the ground.

“Goddamn it!” I smash my fist against the top of my desk. “He used a different message this time. Why?”

Casper shrugs. “This was more traceable. He might assume she’s gone to the cops; if he put the same message as the others on this card, it would have been a dead giveaway. This might still be a coincidence.”

“But how the fuck would he know about our marriage? That’s something even Kelly doesn’t know!”

He shakes his head. “That one I can’t figure out. Unless he would have some connection to somebody in Bozeman? But even that’s too big of a coincidence.”

I gotta figure this out.

“Kelly is going out with her friend Rosa on Thursday. I need you and Thor to help me that night. I’m going to do some recon on Jason, but I want to make sure Thor has eyes on the girls.

I’ll have him hang out at the bar and make sure nobody fucks with them.

While they’re out, I need you to install cameras at Kelly’s. ”

“I can do that,” he says, shrugging.

“I need to do some intel before I make any move. This can’t be sloppy. And I need to figure out what he knows—and how the fuck he knew about the marriage.”

Casper stands. “Just don’t be fucking stupid. You’re no good to Kelly if you’re sitting in a cell,” he says, pointing a finger at me before he exits the office.

I sigh, leaning back in my chair and scrubbing a hand down my face. Jason is about to find out what it’s like to be hunted. I need an outlet for the rage firing through my veins that I plan to take out on him. Until then, I’m going to be crawling in my skin.

I push out of my chair and open the door, and Kelly is passing by, but she turns and winks, wearing that devilish smile she’s been teasing me with all day.

Fuck it.

Wrapping my fingers around her biceps, I haul Kelly inside my office, slamming the door behind her.

She’s been flirting with me all day, walking the line, bending over in front of me to pick up pens, flashing her pussy just to rile me up and test my patience—like it’s cute.

If she wants my reaction, then she’s about to get it.

I can put up with a lot of her shit, but that wink just sent me over the edge.

I shove her against the door.

“Logan—” She blinks up at me with wide eyes flickering with arousal and something wicked.

“What?” I ask. “Stop?”

She exhales, her breath hot on my palm. “No.”

One hand covers her mouth while the other works up her trembling thigh and under the skirt she wore to fuck with me.

“No panties,” I growl. “You knew exactly what you were doing, don’t act coy now.”

I slide my hands under her thighs, and carry her over to my desk in two strides, dropping her on top of the mess of papers.

Grabbing her skirt at the hem, I shove it up around her hips and unzip my jeans, freeing my heavy cock. Her eyes widen when she sees how hard I am for her.

“You wanted trouble. You found it.”

She bites her lip. “Promises, promises.”

What a fucking brat.

I rut into her, hard and deep, her cry transforming into a moan. She clings tighter, eager for more. “You knew the second you provoked me that you’d end up flat on your back begging.”

“You wouldn’t have me any other way.”

Fuck.

Her fingers curl into my shirt as I pound into her, rough and relentless.

The doorknob turns and clicks open. Kelly flinches and claws at my shoulders like she’s trying to hide in my chest. Too late for that. I’m not stopping, not after those little quips to spur me on. I clench my jaw and power through, slowing my strokes but staying inside her.

Casper leans against the doorframe. “Christ,” he says, chuckling. “You couldn’t wait thirty minutes to clock out first?”

She nudges upright, burying her face in my neck while her thighs tremble against my sides.

“I warned her what would happen if she kept it up.” I lick my lower lip and drive inside. “She chose to call my bluff.”

“Guess she found out,” he comments.

I pull out slowly, just to hear the wetness bounce off the walls, then press back in. Tangling my fist in her hair, I yank her head back to look at me. “Did you find out, Chaos?”

She nods, squinting her eyes shut. Her pussy tightens around my length; the way I’m soaked with her seems .

. . excessive. She whimpers, and I expect her to recoil with shame after the slipped sound, but she doesn’t.

No, instead it’s followed up by a sexy-as-hell moan, this time louder—she’s into it. She’s showing off.

My wife’s a greedy little exhibitionist. She wants an audience while she gets fucked. Her body reacts, growing more slick and wet with each plunge into her tight cunt. She’s feeding off the thrill, so I lean into it.

I chuckle. “She’s trying to act shy,” I say, “but twenty minutes ago, she bent over in this tiny skirt and showed me that she forgot her panties today.”

Casper shakes his head and takes out his phone, staring at the screen. “You always lose your shit around her,” he mumbles, mindlessly scrolling.

Kelly holds her breath as she comes, her body trembling. Even nuzzled in my shirt, she arches her back, giving in.

“Because she fucking loves it.” I slap the side of her ass, and she flinches with a yelp. “She plays innocent, but she just came. Think she’s embarrassed?”

He slips his phone into his pocket. “If she is, doesn’t look like she wants you to stop.”

“Pathetic, isn’t it?”

He shrugs. “Nah. She’s just a girl who knows what she likes.”

“It’s safe to say I think she’s enjoying herself.” Not once has she told me to stop or tried to push me away, she’s only pulled me closer.

“Well, I’ll let you finish up. Just wanted to tell you there’s a car parked in the tow zone outside.”

I nod. “Thanks, I’ll take care of it in a bit.”

“I’m sure.” He laughs, then tilts his head to the side, glancing at Kelly. “Thanks, Junior, I appreciate you taking care of his attitude.”

The door clicks shut and she smacks me. “You—you—”

“One more, sweetheart.” I lay her back on my desk and thrust into her faster.

Her spine bows and her groans fill the room as I slam into her.

Her eyes are wild, full of fire and darkness—pupils blown, and it’s more than arousal, she’s high off the encounter.

“You filthy fucking girl. You loved that, huh?”

The fact that she got off on being watched like that, seeing that other side of her, is enough to make me lose control of my own orgasm. I grunt as it tumbles out of me, spearing myself deep.

I lean down to whisper in her ear. “Next time you want to call my bluff, you better be prepared for the fallout.”

Her chest rises and falls. “He saw me come.” Her voice is half panic, half lust.

“So?”

“That’s fucked up, Logan!” She chokes out. “I should have told you to stop!”

“Then why didn’t you?”

“Because I didn’t want to.” She covers her face with her hands. “I don’t know . . . It just—it made everything so much hotter. But now that it’s over . . . He’s never going to look at me the same again.”

I kneel in front of her, and she props herself up on her elbows to stare me down, waiting for answers.

I place a palm on each of her thighs, spreading them.

“I respect you. Casper respects you. If he cared he would have flinched when he saw us.” I press my lips to the inside of her thigh, placing a kiss to the tender flesh, then repeat the movement on the other side. “He’s never going to mention it.”

I know that look, she’s overthinking, half present in her head. She needs to be anchored.

“Hey, you have nothing to be embarrassed about.” Her glassy eyes refocus on me.

“Don’t turn what we just did into something ugly.

You trusted me enough. You were honest with your body and emotions.

You surrendered—and your surrender was beautiful.

You are the most powerful woman I know. Never feel ashamed of what you want. ”

She nods, a small smile replacing the worry and unease that lingered in her gaze moments ago. I stand and lean forward, capturing her mouth. Her hand snakes behind my neck and brings me closer. That’s my girl.

“One more thing . . .”

She stares back, with swollen, parted lips. God, she’s gorgeous.

“Saturday night, you’re mine. Frankie is going to reschedule anything on our calendars after five p.m.”

She smiles wider.

“You deserve a night to be spoiled.”

After all the bullshit with the flowers, I realize Kelly and I need a break. To be alone. Together. We need a night to forget all this shit. I need the distraction and so does she.
