Chapter 33
Chapter
Thirty-Three
Max couldn’t believe his ears at what he’d heard. She’d said she wanted to tie the knot this week.
She wanted to elope, no fancy wedding. Just the two of them with one person they each chose to go with them to bear witness.
“Babe, you know your brothers and your club would be hurt if we did it without them present. I say do the courthouse wedding but have them there to be a witness. Your club, who are your sisters, your brothers and mine all there to witness me making you my wife for good.” Max suggested pulling her into his arms.
“What brought this on?” Max asked a few hours later when he came up for air after Desiree had jumped him at his suggestion.
“I’m just tired of waiting. I want to start our life together. I don’t need fancy and I know you hate it just as much as I do.” Desiree admitted as she let her fingers roam his chest, drawing haphazardly.
“Then that is what we shall do. We’ll go down to the courthouse, file for our license and then get married with everyone there.” Max agreed with her.
He could tell there was something else on her mind, but she wasn’t saying anything. He could always tell when she got quiet like she did and let her fingers run all over his chest.
“What’s on your mind, hellcat?”
“Does Daniels know that you and I are in a relationship or that Teddy is my brother?” Desiree blurted out, biting her lower lip.
“Honestly, I don’t know. Teddy and I keep our personal lives kind of private. The only ones that really know is my normal team. We don’t really talk much in front of Daniels. I’m now learning that the team doesn’t really care for him.”
Max thought back to conversations that were had about Desiree of any kind. When the team would actually talk about things openly, Daniels was never around.
He now realized that the team didn’t like talking about their personal lives or making their normal jokes when he was around. They tended to act professional and keep things on a down low when the man was around.
As he really got to thinking about things, he realized the team had shown that they didn’t trust Daniels from the very beginning. He made a mental note to check in with his commanding officer when he went back to the office to find out when Daniels would officially be leaving the team.
Hopefully it would be very soon. At least for his sake.
“What brought on that question?” Max looked down at Desiree to see what was going on in her head.
Desiree told him about the conversation with Iris and then wound up breaking down and told him about what she knew of Daniels and why she avoided him like the plague. She’d also told him about his assault of Nightshade and how at times he would stalk them until recently.
Now that he knew all this information, he would be going to his commanding officer when he took him the paperwork showing that he and Desiree were married so that she could be added to his paperwork and files and talk to him about Daniels. He wanted him to be gone for team moral.
Fuck waiting for the new spot on the other team to be opening. He now wondered more about Daniels and why he wasn’t liked on his last team.
He made a mental note to talk with the team leader the next chance he got. Max’s team was the third team that Daniels had been placed on, even if it was temporary.
“Hey, I didn’t mean to drop all of this on you like this. If you want to wait…”
Max didn’t let her finish her statement. He fused his lips with hers and rolled her onto her back.
When he finally rolled back over, she was just as breathless as he was. Every time he sunk into her heat, it was like the first time.
This woman was going to be the death of him. Fuck, but what a way to go!
“I’m not waiting, hellcat. You said you were ready right now, so in the morning, we will contact everyone and let them know to meet us at the courthouse at nine in the morning. We’ll file for our marriage papers and then I’m making you Mrs. Blackwell. You’re not getting out of it now.”
The next morning, they did exactly that. Max sent a text to his brother, Jose, and Teddy to meet them at the courthouse at nine sharp and not to be late, while Desiree did the same to the women she called family in the Blue Lotus club.
Three hours later, he was walking out of the courthouse with a ring on his finger and a copy of his marriage certificate to show his commanding officer. He was the happiest man on the planet right now.
This woman was his world and nothing, or no one, would make that change otherwise. If anyone tried, he would burn the fucking planet down to save her.
Fuck being the nice guy who saved everyone else at her expense. He didn’t care who was in the way, Desiree was the woman he would protect until his dying breathe.
“What are you thinking about, Mr. Blackwell?” Desiree purred up at him as she batted her eye lashes.
“How I could miss the rest of the day and take my lovely wife home and fuck her until we are both senseless.” Max answered, winking down at her.
“Oh, how I do love that. But sadly, Uncle Sam calls so you must go do your patriotic duty. Although, when you get home this evening, you can do exactly that. I may even be nice and be in our bed waiting buck ass naked for you.”
Max growled down at her as he pulled her in for a kiss. This woman knew exactly how to get to him.
Now he was probably going to have an erection the rest of the day thinking about her in their bed, buck ass naked, waiting for him to get home. Fuck Uncle Sam and his patriotic duty.
