Chapter Twenty-Four WINGS
I open my eyes to the best sight in the world.
It’s a cascade of caramel hair, framing a stubborn chin and a pair of brows knotted together like angry worms. But it’s the warm concern in Abbie’s eyes that melts the last of the chill from my limbs.
For a few terrifying minutes while I was trapped, I thought I’d never see her face again, and I lean in close, filling my lungs with her peaches and honey scent.
“You smell so good,” I tell her nuzzling into her neck. “God, what a shitty night.”
“The shittiest.” She clings to me, breathing my scent in just as deeply. “I thought…”
She stops abruptly, and I skim a thumb over her unhappy mouth.
As if my near hypothermia wasn’t enough, Jackpot and his goons decided to stage a last stand outside our suite.
I caught a bit of it from the doorway, but I shake the memory away, refusing to think too hard about what went down.
“Yeah, but everything worked out in the end. The Vipers are gone and we’re not gonna dwell on the rest of it, okay? ”
She gives a jerky nod, brushing her hair back like she’s shaking off a bad dream. “Okay. Patch says you can have a bath now. Are you feeling up to it?”
“I’ve got the rose petals,” Bluff says from the bathroom door, a wolfish grin on his face.
I smirk at the thought of the imposing alpha plundering Lyla’s rose bushes, but after learning what he can do with a butter knife, I’m not going to object. “A bath sounds good.”
“Let me help you,” Pitt says from my other side, his hand cupping my shoulder as I slide out of bed.
It’s a different kind of warmth and I bite my lip, letting the sensation sink into my bones.
Yep, I definitely feel something other than brotherly affection as he slings an arm around my waist, helping me towards the door.
“I can walk.” It’s stupid how breathless I sound, but I don’t push him away until we reach the bath. I can feel the heat burning on my cheeks as I face Abbie. “You’re getting in with me, right?”
She glances at Pitt. “We both are, unless you just want to have a quiet soak…”
I glance around, feeling as if the tiles are growing slippery under my feet. I want them to both get in the damn bath with me, but I’m not sure how to put that into words.
“I’m gonna get us brunch,” Bluff says, breaking the heavy silence, “and rescue Jedi from the cuddle monkeys.” He slides a wink my way. “I’ll be back in time to supervise aftercare.”
“Aftercare?” I glance at the counter. There’s a first aid kit by the sink and Abbie grabs my sleeve, pulling me over. “More tests?”
“Just your temperature,” she says, sliding the monitor across my temple. She hums happily as she reads the screen. “Good as new.”
I’m not sure about that, since I feel as shaky as an old man, my back stiffening as Pitt puts a hand on my shoulder.
He’s standing behind me, his extra bulk like a dark shadow as he stares at me with his bright green eyes.
He’s wearing one of his compression tees and gray sweats, and my mouth waters as his tattoos flex on his defined arms. Okay, this is definitely more than admiration for his hard-earned physique.
“We don’t have to do anything,” he says quietly into my ear. “I’m your packmate, no matter what. But if you want more, I’m here for you. Anything you need.”
I lick my dry lips, a trickle of something that feels like more than sweat gathering between my ass cheeks. Fuck, even if I wanted to avoid this conversation, my body won’t let me. And why should I be embarrassed if he wants this, too? “I want us to be real mates, like you and Abbie.”
She makes a soft sound, and I reach out to grasp her hand. She’s staring at our reflections in the mirror, and I smile at the heat in her eyes. “What are you thinking, butterfly?”
“Just that you look so perfect together.” She slips in against the counter, so I’m sandwiched between them.
Her hands gently grip my waist, her head tilted back to hold my gaze.
“Plus, I’ll tell you what Ark told me when he saw Pitt’s claiming bite.
He said that he’s not just a good guy, but he’ll kill himself trying to keep you safe.
I want that for you. Another protector, so last night can never happen again. ”
I nudge her back against the counter, my thigh pressing between hers as I bend to nibble at her mouth. “I thought we weren’t gonna dwell on that.”
“We’re not.” She arches her back, her scent growing hazy with arousal. “But I want you to feel good in every way. You deserve to be adored, Wings. Plus, any bond you have with Pitt is just another way for me to feel closer to you.”
I nod, because that’s where my thoughts started, too. A yearning to be as close to Abbie as her biological mates. But there’s an extra layer now, and it shivers over my skin as I feel Pitt’s body heat against my back.
“You’re still cold,” he says, laying a careful hand on my spine. “We can just take a bath…”
“Can we try?” I interrupt him, catching his gaze in the mirror. “Just see if it feels right?”
“Of course.”
Abbie gives me a soft smile, and taking my hand, leads me over to the bath. It gleams with oils, the promised rose petals floating on the steamy surface. I clear my throat. “Bluff saw it in a movie once.”
“They smell almost as good as you,” Abbie tells me, placing her dog tags on the counter and slipping out of her pajamas.
I pause to watch her, my blood heating at the sight of her gorgeous curves.
I don’t know if it’s the latent alpha in me, but I can’t see her like this without wanting to consume every inch of her.
“God, that feels good, too,” she murmurs as she steps into the bath and sinks to her waist. “Do you want to sit at the front or back?”
I glance at Pitt, who’s slowly peeling off his compression tee. “What do you think?” I ask, watching his brows shoot up.
“I’d like you in the middle.” He holds my gaze as he hooks his thumbs into the waistband of his sweats and eases them down. “But it’s up to you where you feel most comfortable.”
My mouth waters again as I take in the strong line of his thighs and the thatch of dark hair around his long, hard cock. It’s a few inches thicker than mine, with a head that turns dark red when he’s turned on. Right now, it’s slapping his abs, as dark and swollen as I’ve ever seen it.
“Can I undress you?” he asks, his tight abs rippling as he steps closer. His hands are at his sides, the knuckles big and bony, but I’m pretty sure they’re twitching in my direction.
“Yeah,” I say softly, willing my body to relax. “That would be good.”
But I’m coiled as tight as a suspension spring, and a puff of air escapes me as he presses a hand to my waist. His fresh, crisp scent washes over me, but I can taste the darker notes of arousal on the back of my tongue.
I stare at his hand, waiting for it to strip me bare.
He’s still for a beat and then his hand suddenly grips my chin.
He tilts it up, his green eyes snaring mine.
“Kiss first,” he murmurs, rubbing his thumb over my bottom lip. “Got to do this right.”
It’s not our first kiss, since that happened moments before he claimed Abbie as his mate.
I’m still a little stunned that he asked my permission, and my kiss was more a sign of my devotion to their bond than anything intimate with Pitt.
He’d called her my soulmate, and I think it was in that moment that I really looked at him differently.
If he could see all the way to my soul, is it any wonder that I suddenly felt more for him than just another brother in the clubhouse?
This time, I let him take the lead, his hand tightening on my waist as he slowly rubs his lips over mine.
I press a little harder and he licks between them, opening my mouth with his warm, slick tongue.
We both shave, but there’s the rasp of morning bristles as his cheek brushes mine.
It’s so different to the way Abbie kisses me, his hand still gripping my jaw as he tilts my head for better access.
I know he’s being careful, but there’s a dominance in his approach that I’m not used to.
Plus, there’s the feel of his cock brushing my belly.
It’s a hard, hungry reminder of what his body wants from mine.
“Too much?” he asks, pulling back.
I stare at his wet lips in a daze. “No,” I croak. “Just different.”
Pitt lets go of my jaw and turns to look at Abbie. “You enjoying the view, butterfly?”
She hums from where she’s hanging over the side of the bath, her eyes glowing. “So, so much.”
“Then how about we move closer?”
I nod and he uses the front of my shirt to drag me over to Abbie’s eager hands.
She rises onto her knees so she can work me out of my sweats while Pitt does away with my tee.
I blush when I’m finally standing between them, my own arousal laid bare.
I’m not embarrassed exactly, but there’s a kind of jittery static under my skin, and I sigh in relief as Abbie wraps her warm, wet arms around me.
“So fucking beautiful,” Pitt says, drinking us in with hot eyes. “Five years ago, I was just another asshole going to bike rallies and dreaming of an omega of my own. Look at me now.”
“So spoiled,” Abbie laughs, drawing me into the bath next to her.
My dick throbs as it brushes her thigh, but I remember what Pitt said about being between them and I sink into the middle of the bath.
Abbie props herself at one end, opening her arms so I can drift between her legs.
She pulls me down, wrapping her arms around my chest and hooking her feet over my calves. “He’s damn delicious, isn’t he?”
I shudder, my cock so hard I can’t resist giving it a squeeze. My mouth is too dry to answer her, but I can’t take my eyes off Pitt as he sinks into the other end of the bath. He’s a vision of controlled power until his muscles flinch at the sudden heat. “Damn, you have thick skin, butterfly.”
