Chapter 4
Alex
Hudson might be the most beautiful man I’ve ever met – omega or not.
My mates included.
His lips are made for sin.
Not appropriate – yet.
If he agrees to anything more than today’s meet-and-greet, there will be a lot of questions, a lot of limits to be discussed, and any types of hard limits he might have. Just because his body’s built for an alpha doesn’t mean he’ll want two of us inside him. Or three.
Damn it. As if my dick hasn’t been at full mast since the moment I caught his scent, now my knot is throbbing along to my heartbeat.
The three of us have never knotted anyone. We’ve experimented with each other, but our bodies aren’t built for that. The thought of being locked inside an omega…no, not just any omega…Hudson.
Something in him drags every protective, primal instinct to the surface.
People might look down on a pack of three alphas, but our families only care that we’re happy – well, except Mason’s.
What kind of upbringing did Hudson have? How did his family feel about him being without a pack? Were they aware he was auctioning his heats?
I suppose this could be the first time he’s sought out this type of arrangement.
Yep. More questions I’m dying to learn the answers to.
I keep my hand on Hudson’s lower back as I lead him up the stairs, then down the hall where I stop outside the omega quarters. “Do you mind if I enter with you? At least to show you where the bedroom, nest, and ensuite bathroom are located?”
He tilts his head back to frown up at me. “Did you just ask if you can enter a room in your own home?”
“We don’t want to taint the space with our pheromones until you’re ready. We had it professionally cleaned to rid it of any staff or contractors’ scents who might have come through recently.”
“You have staff?” A sassy smile quirks up one side of his pillowy soft lips and I’m beyond tempted to bend and pull that bottom lip between my teeth.
“Yeah, it’s too big for us alone. We’ve got a few housekeepers, full-time security, and a grounds crew.”
He holds up a hand. “I get it. I’ll never be alone, even when you’re at work.”
Okay. That wasn’t exactly him agreeing to our arrangement, but it shows me he’s obviously thinking about it. I have to refrain from fist pumping the air. For now, anyway.
“To answer your question, of course you can enter a room in your house. If…” He waves his hand around as though he doesn’t want to speak the words aloud. “You guys will be in here all the time. Right?”
“Only if you allow us. This space will be yours completely. We’ll never enter without your permission.” I’m so close to spilling the words this isn’t a romantic arrangement but can’t force my lips to form the words.
For the first time since bonding with my mates, I feel something more, a pull that goes beyond instinct. Everything about him, from his kissable lips, his beautiful eyes, his silky hair, and especially his scent, call to every alpha instinct I have.
Mount. Rut. Breed.
For the first time, though, those instincts will be beneficial and could give my mates and me something we’ve wanted for so many years.
I wave my hand toward the door and step behind him as he pushes into the room and walks around slowly.
The quarters resemble a small apartment – cozy couch, fireplace, and a neutral palette waiting for his touch.
“This is the living quarters. Like I said, this entire wing is yours. I mean if you agree to our arrangement. You have the only say in who is allowed in and when. I can even ensure the housekeepers and any other staff stay out if you’re against any other smells saturating the space.”
All I want is to coat the space with my scent until it screams mine.
I shouldn’t want someone I just met as much as I want Hudson. And it’s more than simply wanting to feel him beneath my hands. I find myself so curious about him, about why he’s packless, about why he chose to auction his heat, about…well anything he’s willing to tell me, really.
His fingers trail over the fabric of the couch as he moves to the window and looks out. “Pretty view,” he says, glancing at me over his shoulder.
“Beautiful view,” I agree, although I’m pretty sure we’re talking about two different things.
Clearing my throat, I make my way toward the back of the room.
“The bedroom is through here,” I say, pushing the door open.
The bedroom is slightly larger than the living quarters, but mostly because we needed the space for the pack bed. There are only the three of us alphas, but we wanted to ensure there was plenty of space for any omega who might ever agree to be with us for this adventure.
Although, we had talked in the past about possibly seeking and adding an omega or beta, it had simply never happened. We hadn’t met anyone who made me feel even an iota of what I currently feel for the omega who’s turning in a slow circle with wide eyes.
“I think my apartment might fit in this room,” he says, smiling at me as he saunters from the antique dresser to the large pack bed before opening the large walk-in closet. “Damn,” he mutters before he disappears inside.
“We’re more than happy to either supplement your current wardrobe with new items or replace it completely if that’s something you’d like to include in your terms.”
His head pops out and his brows are nearly to his hairline. “Did you just offer to provide me with a whole new wardrobe? I swear you three studied how to spoil an omega before I arrived.”
We’d studied every guide on making omegas comfortable; we simply wanted to do this right.
Yeah, money is great and all, but omegas like to be pampered, doted on, made to feel as though they’re the center of the pack.
At least that was what we’d read – and now I’m back to wondering how someone as beautiful as Hudson has made it to twenty-three without a bond.
If he agrees to make our dreams come true, we’ll have plenty of time to get to know each other. Or we could court him like I suggested so he can get to know us while we do the same with him.
Work could be an issue, but owning the firm means we can take heat leave and delegate.
He finally leaves the closet and closes the door behind him.
“The ensuite bathroom is in here,” I say as I turn on the light.
He doesn’t enter the room, but he does peek inside and raise one brow at me. The room was designed the same way we designed every inch of this space – to be the epitome of comfort and luxury for the omega.
“You ready to see the nest?”
He steps out and his arm brushes against my chest when I reach around the wall to flip off the light. That simple touch stirs something deep in my chest and I have to bite back a growl building in my throat.
Why the hell does his touch make me feel…possessive? He’s not mine.
Of course, all three of us will ensure he’s safe at all times. Safe and comfortable and happy.
But this is more than that. There’s something lingering in his scent, something that doesn’t belong to him, something I only noticed as he brushed so close to me.
That is what has set my instincts off.
Yet…I don’t have the right. Until the day he signs the contract, he’s allowed to be with anyone he wants any time he wants.
Even if he agrees, he won’t belong to us – only carry our child.
