Chapter 16

brIDGET

“I sent you an email,” Maverick said, once we’d put all of Scout’s new things in the trunk and settled into his car.

The dog was in the back seat, pushing his head out the open window, bone in his mouth. He hadn’t set it down since I handed it to him. I didn’t know how long he’d been in the shelter, but if I’d been locked up like he had, offered freedom and a big treat, I probably wouldn’t let it go either.

“Oh?”

Maverick pulled his car out of the parking spot, glancing over his shoulder as he did so.

The windows were down and the warm air swirled around us.

This had to be a rental, but it was more muscle than the usual loaner.

Being CEO of a billion-dollar company, I assumed he didn’t fly commercial to get here, so whoever arranged his travel arranged for this as well.

His assistant, I assumed, who’d also shared his favorite sandwich for the meeting yesterday.

“Can you pull it up on your phone?” he asked, his gaze on the road.

“Yes. Is it about the report? We can go over the details over lunch.” I shouldn’t be surprised he wanted to work, even on a Saturday.

I’d hoped that when he’d met with Ed and Bixby at the site the day before, he’d have gotten all his issues resolved.

Obviously not. “If you want sandwiches, turn here and go down a block.”

He drove where I pointed and within a minute, parked in front of my favorite deli. It was where I’d gotten lunch for the meeting the day before, but since the sandwiches were so good, I could eat them all the time.

After shutting off the engine, he turned in his seat, setting his forearm on the steering wheel.

“I’ll get the food and you can read it.”

I could only nod because he was my boss. If he wanted to work over lunch, then that was what we would do.

“Okay. Sure.”

His eyes met mine. “Promise me, that whatever you read, you won’t run. That you’ll be here when I come back out.”

A shot of worry had me panicking. Why would he ask that of me?

“You’re not firing me? I mean, you could just tell me, right?

It doesn’t need to be all official in an email.

” I asked, wondering if running was exactly what I should do.

Except he’d had plenty of time to terminate my job already today and hadn’t yet, but I still had to ask.

His eyes softened and so did his voice. “No, baby. I’m not firing you.”

He reached up, stroked a finger down my cheek. Heat sizzled in the same path.

“You’ll be here?” His dark eyes held mine as he asked.

I nodded and seemingly satisfied, he unfolded himself from the car.

I stared after him as he went inside. Scout hopped into the front and sat in the driver’s seat. Watched out the window.

Grabbing my cell, I pulled up my work email, then scrolled through my inbox and opened the one from Maverick. He’d sent it last night.

Baby,

Now you have leverage over me. You can take this to HR at any time. While I do own the company, the board of directors can fire me. You can make a hefty settlement from using this.

I know your email was a mistake but what you wrote was the truth.

This is all true too.

Mav

I read it twice, then opened the attachment called Sex Quiz.

Who do you want to do it with?

Bridget Beckett

“Oh. My. God.” It was a quiz just like the one I sent him, but it seemed he reorganized the questions so I knew right away it was about me. No, him and me. Together.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how kinky you are?

I’ll do anything from sweet to wild. I can do slow all the way up to fuck her in front of others. If Bridget has a need, it’s my job to meet it.

“Fuck me in front of others?” I whispered to Scout, who tilted his head toward me.

Dropping the bone on the seat, he hopped into my lap as if he wanted to read it with me.

“Oof. You are short, but you’re not a little dog,” I told him, shifting his body so his butt was by the window and not in my face.

Setting my hand on his furry back, I kept reading.

Now I knew why Maverick worried I’d run. This was unbelievably inappropriate for work, and I’d only read two answers. Fireable. And naughty. The kiss the night before had been one thing but learning about Maverick’s darkest fantasies was hot.

So I pushed on. Duh.

What’s the one thing you wish to get from your partner?

Everything. No holding back. I want to know everything about Bridget. What color her nipples are. Where she’s ticklish. If she shivers when I lick the inside of her thigh. The sound of her moan. What she looks like when she takes my big dick for the first time. If it’ll make her squirm.

Holy shit. I fanned myself because that was insanely hot and nothing the board of directors of James Corp should know about. That’s why he sent it. This took you show me yours and I’ll show you mine to a different level. I sent mine to him by mistake. He sent his to me on purpose.

What’s your darkest fantasy?

I can’t pick one. Bending Bridget over my bed as I wrap her hair around my fist. I’ll fuck her from behind as I admire a green gem topped plug in her ass. Telling her she’s a good girl for taking my dick so well and she’ll spread her legs to take even more.

Um… what? Okay, maybe.

Watching as she tries to take all of me down her throat.

Tears would well in her eyes because I’m too much but still opening wider because she knows I love it.

Bridget climbing in my lap and working herself onto my dick.

I’ll watch her face as I cram her little pussy full.

Too full that it hurts a little as my baby comes.

Bridget sitting on my face and I suck on her aching clit as I finger fuck her until she screams, then squirts all over me.

Squirts? I couldn’t even come for a man, let alone squirt. Could he do that? I wasn’t sure about squirting, but he could definitely get me to squirm, because I was doing that right now.

Seeing her take off her cum soaked panties knowing she was covered in me all day… and asking me to be filled up with more. My baby on the kitchen counter, spread wide and–

The driver side door opened and I jumped. Maverick settled into the driver’s seat, then leaned to the side and tugged the bone from beneath him. He tossed it in the back and Scout went after it, his little claws digging into my thighs.

Maverick set the bag of food at my feet but kept his dark eyes locked on mine.

They couldn’t hide how vulnerable he felt.

This email was dangerous for him. Professionally, the email was suicide.

Personally, he put it all out there. Unless he moonlighted as an erotic author, he really was sharing what he wanted to do with me.

To me. For only knowing each other twenty-four hours, he’d spent a lot of time fantasizing. About me.

We could fuck or I could fuck him over.

He was leaving it up to me. Trusting me. Just as he wanted me to trust him in return.

It was a strange dichotomy, his intention versus his words. He’d made it so I wasn’t embarrassed or ashamed, or worried my email mistake would affect my employment. He was a gentleman. Protective, even. But he wanted to put a plug in my butt and fuck me from behind. Not a gentleman.

“Baby?” he murmured, seemingly losing patience for me to make a decision.

“Why did you write this?” I wondered.

“Because you needed something to feel safe. If me admitting what I want to do with you will do that, then it’s worth it.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “You know that kind of doesn’t make sense.

” I took a moment to think about it all.

“You’re not firing me. You’re not mad that I sent the email.

You laughed off the coffee spill and you’re not mad that you have to stay in Hunter Valley since it was my fault Jason was fired. ”

He sighed and the muscles in his body relaxed. A big hand settled on my thigh, his palm on my bare skin, his fingers on my shorts. “Let’s go down your list. I’m not firing you. I’m not mad about the email. Thank you for spilling coffee on me. If not for that, I wouldn’t have the coolest dog ever.”

I hadn’t thought about that. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Scout sitting in the middle of the back seat watching us.

“Yes, I’m staying in Hunter Valley,” he continued. “Yes, it’s because of Jason Jimenez. But it’s not your fault he was fired. He was an asshole. A shit leader. A shit human. I don’t employ men like him.” His fingers squeezed gently. “You need to tell me what he said and did.”

I frowned. “Like what?”

“You heard what he said to me. That locker room talk.”

I swallowed. “Yeah.”

“What else did he do?”

I shrugged, then looked out the window. “Wonder how I could be so smart and have such a nice ass. Things like that.”

His fingers clenched, then he pulled his hand away to rub it down his face. “Did he ever touch you? Jemma?”

“No.”

“Why didn’t you report him?”

“Because I need my job, that it’s his word against mine. Against Jemma’s. I’m just his assistant.”

“Right.” He was angry. A blood vessel throbbed at his temple. “You did his work for him, too.”

I licked my lips. Nodded.

“Even though he’s already fired, on Monday, you and Jemma, and anyone else he fucked with, will file formal complaints with HR. Trust me, I’ll make sure he doesn’t find a job. Anywhere.”

I believed him. The fact that he had the power and ability to protect not just me, but other women he would work with.

“You need to tell me if someone’s bothering you. Whatever it is.”

I give my head a slight shake. “You can’t fight my battles.”

“Like hell I can’t. Look at me.” He pointed to himself, but his finger tapped the words Steaming Hotties on his pink t-shirt. “You think I’m not big enough to handle it?”

I laughed. “You can handle anything.”

“There’s one thing I’m struggling with,” he said softly, glancing at the gear shift, then at me through his dark lashes.

“Oh?” He was powerful, successful, handsome and every other adjective I couldn’t think of right now.

“You.”
