Chapter 28

brIDGET

When Mav came into the restaurant, my first thought was, God, he was hot. The second was that he was angry.

I swallowed hard.

“I told you he wanted to pick you up,” Dex leaned close and murmured as his brother weaved around the tables.

We were at a local brew pub that was popular for its outdoor seating, like Kincaids the night before. Since it was Saturday, the place was already full. Since the place was owned by Mal’s brother, Arlo, she’d called ahead and he kept a prime table for us.

We had drinks in front of us but hadn’t ordered any food.

Mallory’s obsession with Theo was short-lived when he told her he was dating someone.

Silas and Dex frowned–practically grimaced–when he shared that, so I had to assume they didn’t like her.

Her name was Maude and she was a podiatrist who worked at the same hospital.

Mallory had taken it in her usual laid-back way and was enjoying Dex’s stories, which he never seemed to be short of.

Mav stopped right in front of my chair, reached down and pulled me to my feet. He cupped my jaw, then kissed me. Like seriously kissed me, right in the middle of the patio.

Someone whistled.

Mav only lifted his head when he was good and finished with the kiss.

I was wobbly and hot all over. He’d given me two orgasms earlier while he’d had none. I thought of Mallory’s comment about his blue balls and blamed his grumpy attitude on that.

“Baby, why didn’t you wait for me?” he asked. With him leaning down, his dark eyes were right in front of mine. I couldn’t see anyone else but him.

“I… I didn’t know you were coming back.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t make things clear,” he said. “But know this. You’re my girl, I pick you up.”

“See?” Silas called, but I didn’t look his way. Neither did Mav.

I blinked at him, surprised and confused. “I’m your girl?”

His jaw clenched and… yup, blue balls. Leaning in a little further, he put his mouth right by my ear so only I could hear his next words. “Whose pussy did I lick earlier?”

I flushed from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. “Mine,” I whispered.

“Then you’re my girl.”

“But–”

“Do you want to be my good girl or bad girl tonight? Either way, you’re getting fucked. Remember, I have a fantasy list.”

My mouth dropped open and my pussy clenched, remembering what he’d done to me and that hadn’t even touched his email list.

He wasn’t fazed talking dirty right in the middle of a restaurant. With people all around. With his brothers, and Mallory, right there. He didn’t care.

I wasn’t a secret.

And that was the difference between him and my professor. Mav was… proud of me, proud of whatever us was and it had only been one day.

“I want to be your good girl,” I admitted, a little scared and a little thrilled.

I’d jumped in with my professor and I’d gotten hurt. No, fucked over. Completely and totally fucked over. Jason Jimenez had been a weekday reminder of how men could be dicks.

Mav, though, he wasn’t a dick. Or didn’t seem to be. Mallory had pretty good radar when it came to assholes–unlike mine which seemed to be broken–and wasn’t telling me to tell Mav to fuck off. No, she wanted me to fuck him. It seemed so did his brothers.

Mav’s hand curled around and cupped my nape in a possessive hold. The corner of his mouth tipped up in a smile that was just for me. “That’s right, baby.”

“Some of us aren’t getting any, so sit the fuck down.”

That was Silas grumbling.

Mav settled in the chair I’d been in, then pulled me onto his lap.

“Mav!” I cried. “I can’t sit here all night.”

He leaned in again, kissed my temple. “Be a good girl and hide how hard I am from your friend and my brothers. Hell, the entire bar.”

I wiggled my butt and felt him twitch, rock hard and ready beneath me.

Grabbing my drink, I took a big sip, needing to cool off, but didn’t think that was going to cut it.
