Chapter 8

EVE

The past three mornings, I woke up at five and leapt from the bed.

Peeked out the window. No Mr. Big Dick. The house behind mine was dark.

I hadn’t seen Silas–or his dick–since the bar.

I’d thought about it… him, non-stop, since.

When I’d ordered my glass of wine that night and glanced at the guy sitting at the bar, I’d done a double take.

It had been him. My sexy wake-up alarm. Clothed.

And up close. I’d been stunned and had given him a thorough once over.

That beard. Those pale eyes. Square jaw.

Slightly tousled hair. Then his body–clothed–was solid, well-muscled but still lean.

His clothes were high end, but not stuffy.

Conservative but stylish in an understated way.

Pretty much, he looked good without showing off or appearing like he was trying.

It took me a bit to catalog all the things about him that were panty melting.

He’d noticed and I’d flushed. But then he’d given me one in return and well… game on.

I never expected to have a few shots of tequila with the guy and have him fuck me over a desk, but… IT HAD BEEN AMAZING!

That dick I’d eyed before dawn? The quick glimpse I saw of it up close had been perfect.

Big. Really big. Long. Thick. Veiny. Large crowned head.

He could have been a dick model. Maybe he was.

I had no idea. All I knew was that he knew how to wield that thing because I’d been good sore for a day.

He hadn’t gone gentle on me, not that I’d wanted that.

I’d told him not to be. I’d never, ever had sex like that before.

It had been mind-blowing. Unforgettable.

“Earth to Eve.”

I blinked and smiled at Bridget Beckett.

“You okay?” she asked, cocking her head with a look of concern. That made her glasses slip and she pushed them up.

I grabbed the ten-dollar bill she held out and made change for her coffees. “Sorry, yeah, I’m fine. Just… thinking.”

She wore a green puffy coat and had a knit hat on her head. The forecast was for more snow, but that was pretty much the report from now until April. “The way you’re blushing, it has to do with a guy. Maybe?”

My answer was my blush getting hotter. “Maybe.”

Her whole face lit up. “Ooh, tell me!”

I shook my head, which made my earrings swing.

Remembered how dark Silas’s house was this morning.

How I’d walked out of the bar back office with a thanks and not much more.

I wasn’t going to be a clinger or have false expectations that a little fun meant anything.

Except I couldn’t stop thinking about him.

“It was a one-time thing. It’s over.”

She drooped, as if I’d let the air out of her. “Oh, well, that’s no fun.”

“What’s going on with you?”

“Besides working at the high school, Mav and I are tackling the philanthropic branch of James Corp. We’re rolling out a local program now.”

“Oh?” I turned and got to work on her coffee order.

She told me about it while my back was to her.

“Small business loans here in Hunter Valley. We want to see more places like yours succeed. The part we both love about this town is that there aren’t any big box stores or chains.

Not downtown or out by the highway. The more local places succeed, the less chance those conglomerates will take over. ”

I glanced at her over my shoulder. “That’s a great idea.”

She nodded and I started to steam some milk, then poured it over the shots of espresso.

“Want a cup holder?” I asked, grabbing a few napkins.

With a head shake, she replied, “Nah, Mav’s just outside with Scout.”

I glanced out the picture window and saw Mav’s broad back. In pink. “Is he in the coffee shop t-shirt?”

She rolled her eyes and nodded. “He loves that thing. And you two look like twins.”

I glanced down at my outfit. Pink Steaming Hotties shirt–that matched Mav’s–with a slouchy sweater over it and a pair of my favorite jeans. And yes, there was a small hole on the left knee.

“Isn’t he cold?”

Grabbing the coffees, she said, “Mav? Nah, it’s all that big dick energy that keeps him running hot.”

She gave me a sly smile and a finger wave.

Big dick energy. I knew a guy who had that. My pussy clenched remembering.
