Chapter 48

SILAS

Dinner with the Hyports went well. Eve seemed to enjoy herself, especially since Kathleen seemed to have taken her under her wing.

They even shared phone numbers to catch up about sending the pink t-shirts.

No talk about business had been allowed, although I’d been able to slip in how proud I was of Eve.

I’d dealt in hotels for so long, a coffee shop was so different.

Sure, it was still within the hospitality industry, but the scale and the opportunities that were out there for Eve were amazing.

Back at the hotel, I’d gotten Eve naked, just as promised. I took her not once, but twice, then again early this morning.

The final touches on the contract with Hyport were in the works and the deal would be complete in the next few days.

Eve was no longer needed in town–the Hyports loved her most likely more than me.

I had no doubts she was anxious to get back to the shop.

Her friend June had been running it for her, but as CEO, I knew it wasn’t the same for her as being there and in control herself.

The jet was scheduled to take her back to Hunter Valley and I wasn’t thrilled. I wanted her here with me. Naked. Screaming my name. Mine and only mine.

I didn’t want to talk with her on the phone. Or have video sex with her like Dex had suggested, even though I knew we were really fucking good at it. I was getting grumpier by the minute and she hadn’t even left town yet.

“Hi.”

I looked up from my paperwork and there she was in the doorway. In those awesome jeans with the hole in the knee. I popped to my feet and came around to her.

“Hey, kitten.”

Nothing was going to stop me from kissing her. Her mouth was soft and sweet and mine.

Her eyes were wide and full of glassy-eyed need. It’d only been a few hours, but I wanted her again. “Fuck, I can’t get enough of you.”

“That’s what got us into this mess in the first place,” she reminded.

“I like this mess,” I said with a final kiss and a sigh. “The deal should be done tomorrow or the next day. Then I’ll be back in Hunter Valley. Until then, I want you to video chat me tonight.”

Her eyes widened.

“I’ll be in my hotel room. No cam room. Just my phone and your phone. Dex approved.”

She laughed. “I’m not sure if I want to know why your brother approves of our sexy times.”

I snagged her again, cupped her waist. “Mmm, sexy times.”

“You’re insatiable,” she replied.

“I’m not the only one,” I countered, noticing that her nipples poked against her top. Fuck, I wished I could shut my office door and have my way with her.

“I wanted to say goodbye,” she said.

“I’m glad you did. In fact, I have some papers for you to sign before you go.

” I went around the desk to the folder Bradley had dropped off a little earlier from the lawyers.

Now she’d know, before she went back to Montana, how serious I was about us.

That while the marriage had been to make Hyport happy, I was the one who was so fucking satisfied.

Content. Hell, in love. “I was going to bring them with me to Hunter Valley, but we can do it now.”

“Papers?”

I looked up from my shuffling. “Yes. Now that you’re Mrs. James, these are all standard.”

She blinked. “Oh. Right. A prenup.”

I frowned. Prenup? That would have happened before a wedding, not after.

“No, this is a contract with the James Inn San Juan to handle the coffee. Just a formality after the deal with Mav. Then this one”–I held up a different contract–“is for the warehouse in Costa Rica.” I rearranged the pile to find the one I was looking for.

The one that gave her the deed to my apartment in Denver.

I had no clue where she lived in Hunter Valley, something I needed to fix, but I wanted her to know she was mine and that I would come home to her.

That it wasn’t my place in Denver, but ours. “Ah. This one. This one gives you–”

“Wait.” She held up her hands as if stopping traffic. “Wait. The warehouse in Costa Rica?”

I grinned, excited. “Yes, for us to get the coffee distributors to–”

The look on her face was not as expected. She didn’t look thrilled, she looked horrified. “Silas. No. Stop. Enough.”
