Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE

Bailey

I hated that Jesse was right.

My ‘date’ lasted a full ten minutes before he outlined his investigation into Rippton U, my family and…no bonus points or free guesses…Jesse.

That last pissed me off more than anything else.

Which was why, instead of spending my date at a cute retro diner, I was currently seated on the opposite side of a plain desk in an interrogation room at the sole police precinct across town.

“Tell me Jesse Lawrence’s routine.” Larry, my date—I winced at his name every time—leaned forward, a maniacal grin plastered across his face like he has won the lottery bringing me in.

You haven’t got shit, cowboy.

Sure as hell not for picking on my boy.

“Would you like to know when he wanks, too?” I smiled with teeth.

Larry didn’t.

I should have stuck to dating students.

I need to call Jesse.

“Don’t I get a phone call?” I asked sweetly when he didn’t answer my sass.

Rude. Jesse always did.

“You’re not under arrest.” Larry threw a file on the table that flipped open to Jesse’s photo that was at least a year out of date.

Thou shalt protect thy bestie to the best of thy ability.

I ignored the file.

What the hell do they have on him?

“Then you can’t detain me.” My teeth gritted. “They have nice table cloths at the restaurant I picked out. Much more hospitable than this place.” I waved a hand around the empty room that matched the vacant heart of the man glowering across from me.

Blood suffused Larry’s face until he resembled a swollen trash panda.

How did I ever find him attractive?

The simple answer was that I hadn’t. No one else really tinkled my bell except for Jesse. And after that spank earlier… hell, I wanted to see what else he could do when he was in the mood.

“Answer my questions.”

“No.” I shrugged and closed my mouth.

Larry stared at me.

I stared back, ignoring the prickle of anger that rose in me, containing my emotions until I could use them to full effect.

Larry the Loser.

He shall forever be known thus. I smirked to myself, laughing softly.

“Bitch,” Larry snarled, leaning over his arms. His face transformed from red to puce.

I stared back impassively while my heart pounded, wondering just how much trouble I was in.

I should have listened to Jesse.

I was not a damsel in distress.

Larry’s hand shot out, wrapped around my arm and hauled me half way across the table. A pathetic little squark left my lips as he lifted me bodily as though I weighed nothing at all, which really answered all my questions in one.

I wasn’t under arrest. I didn’t get my phone call.

And I was in a whole lot of trouble with a man I didn’t know much about at all.

My limbs froze up.

My mind stilled.

Nothing worked the way it should.

I swallowed hard and forced my hand to rise. How much trouble I was in now, versus striking a cop? What a choice. I didn’t want to rely on my father to save me, but for all the shit I pulled in high school, I seriously hadn’t earned this round.

My self-preservation instincts came on line. I balled my fist, shifted my hips and leaned into Larry’s hold, letting him take my weight.

Confusion crossed his suffused features a second before he leered at me. “Little slut. I thought we waited for the end of the date for the fucking to start.”

My stomach lurched but I held still. Not a damsel.

“Oh, you’ll be fucked up, alright,” I assured him.

His mouth fell open. “Did you just threaten me?”

I huffed. “Whatever you need to tell yourself.”

I raised my fist to waist height, aiming for the under point of his chin, and visualized the uppercut in my mind’s eye, something Jesse taught me after my self-defence classes were too pithy for his liking.

Thank you for the skills, baby.

I released a breath and let my fist fly.

The door to the interrogation room flew open, a panting uniformed cop standing on the other side. “Stop! She has a lawyer.”

Her wild eyes shot between us. I pulled my punch an instant before it connected, hitting myself in the shoulder instead with the follow through.

I oofed, much like I had when Jesse tickled me earlier, and fell over the table straight onto Larry. Nothing stopped me from accidentally stomping his face with my knee and my high heel before I found my balance, apologizing profusely all the while, letting my hands shake.

The cop stared at me in horror as I wrapped my arms around myself. She didn’t need to know the tremors were from an excess of adrenaline.

“I can go?” I let my voice stay soft.

“Yes, ma’am.” She held the door smartly for me, her confused gaze fixed on my face.

“Thank, Officer Bramble,” I murmured, squinting at her nametag and gave her a partial smile. “Which way is out?”

I didn’t bother to ask where I was meeting my lawyer because there was only one person waiting for me. He sure as hell hadn’t taken his bar exam yet, even if he was smart enough to pass it already.

“Miss Messer.” Jesse, dressed in a charcoal suit and white dress shirt that highlighted his dark skin rose. His eyes were fixed on me, and his gaze was furious. “Having fun on your date?”

“Oh, loads.” My hands twitched at my sides, desperate to fling my arms around him and stay there.

Why did we make that damn deal?

Because I needed to break it and shatter the restrictions between us with every fiber of my being.

“I’m glad.” His hand clamped down hard on my shoulder, his fingers digging deep enough to assure me I just traded one sort of trouble for another. “She’s good to go?”

“Ah, if she can sign a waiver?” Officer Bramble’s voice trembled as badly as my hands.

“I don’t think so.” Jesse turned us, heading straight for the exit in long, sure strides I trotted to keep up with.

“Thank you,” I muttered under my breath.

“You won’t be thanking me in a minute. Or maybe you will.”

I glanced sideways at him, frowning. “What do you mean?”

Jesse shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”

I smirked. “You stopped me from decking him.”

He winced. “Damn, girl. Glad I taught you how to defend yourself. This wasn’t what I expected, but still…”

I bit my lip. “He had me halfway across the table. I thought he was going to throw me on the floor and break my neck,” I whispered.

Automated doors opened for us and we were in clear air. Jesse buckled me into the passenger seat of his Supra—a classic sports car he loved restoring, not the newer version—and peeled away from the curb before he spoke again.

“Lesson learned?” His voice was reigned tight, not that I blamed him.

A hundred snarky replies filled my head, but none of them were appropriate. Not that either of us ever cared for that right now.

“Have I said thank you enough? My next step was to demand to call Dad. I really didn’t want to do that.”

“He would have gone easier on you than I will.” Still terse, Jesse’s tone lit something dark inside me.

“What do you mean?” I whispered.

“You’ll see.”

He pulled into the law department parking lot before I worked out that we were back on campus.

“What are we doing here?”

He didn’t answer, gripping the same arm Larry the Loser attacked, though his hold was firm, not rough. The empty corridors were dark as he led me into a study hall with one small desk lamp lit over one of the broad desks.

Jesse pulled out a chair, sat his fine ass down, and pointed to his knees. “Sit.”

I stared at him, the corners of my mouth turning up. “What?”

“You kept mentioning a fetish, Bay, and it’s the perfect punishment for tonight’s crimes.”

My breath stalled. “You’re going to spank me?” I squeaked.

“Yes.”

“No.” I backed up. “No fucking way.”

He was out of that seat, his arms steel bands around me before I took my next breath.

“This is not negotiable, Bay.” Anger—a different sort to the cop’s—filled his face, though the desire blanketed beneath left me panting a little against his chest. “I worried about you for fucking hours. I messaged you, and I called. Finally I pulled a favor with a friend who did a little drive by of the restaurant in your diary. When you weren’t there, I knew what happened.

Next time, fucking well listen to me. Got it?

” He reached around me and slapped my ass. Hard.

I jumped, my hands flying backward as I yelped. “I’m sorry.”

“Damn right.” He returned to the chair.

I bit my lip, my blood thrumming. “Aren’t you afraid we’ll get caught?”

“No.”

Shit.

I swallowed hard and edged forward. “You want me to sit on your lap?” I stalled hopefully.

Jesse sent me a searing look that told me in no uncertain terms I was adding to the penalties he listed against me.

Grumbling under my breath, I ignored my erratic heartbeat, the short breaths that denied me enough lung capacity for my brain to function as I stepped closer and knelt. “How do you—”

Jesse gripped the back of my neck, his face a hard mask, and pulled me over his lap.

My fingertips balanced on the floor as he pressed his other hand over my rump, halting my headlong tumble.

“Perfect,” he murmured, running his fingers over my ass beneath my blue dress. He trailed his touch to the hem and tugged.

“What–”

“Shh.” He tapped the back of my head firmly.

I shut my mouth.

Light touches lifted my skirt over my ass, baring my thong to him. “Was he that good looking?” Jesse’s voice turned scornful. “Count.”

“No–” Smack. I whimpered. “One.”

“Then why,” —Smack— “Did you agree to go?” Smack.

“Two, three,” I whispered, clinging to his calf. My lips pressed into the fabric of his slacks. I inhaled the scent of him, soap and spice and sweat from working out earlier, and signed as I sank into his body.

Jesse could have pulled me up for it, but thankfully he didn’t.

“Why, Bay?” Pain laced his voice. Smack. Smack. Smack.

“Five.” I sobbed softly, though it wasn’t the heat blooming in my ass that hurt. “Because he wasn’t you.”

Smack. Smack. Smack.

“Six, seven, eight.”

The night wore on, Jesse unspeaking until my skin was on fire, and tears dripped from my eyes.

I didn’t miss a single count, unwilling to disappoint him farther.

Finally, the spanking stopped, and his hand rested on my lower back. Jesse blew a breath gently on my tortured skin. “Do you understand?” he asked in a soft voice, his body less rigid than when we started.

“Yes.”

“Tell me.”

I swallowed my sobs, breathing through my nose until they subsided. “I should have asked you to take me out.”

“Good girl,” he purred, sliding his fingers over my skin. “Do you want me to stop now?”

I shook my head as he traced the fabric that disappeared between my ass cheeks right at my tailbone. “Don't stop.”

“As you wish.”

Any other day I would have smirked, but right now, all I could do was hold on and let everything he gave me wash over my hurt, my fear.

His fingers traced along the string, delving between my thighs. I parted my legs willingly, holding my breath as he discovered just what that spanking meant to me.

“Oh, Bay,” he murmured darkly, his soft laugh slithering along my spine as he pushed the sopping material aside and thrust two fingers knuckle deep inside me. “You’ve got ten seconds to come.”

I gasped, pushing back on the intrusion, desperate and already on edge.

Spoilers: it didn't take ten seconds to get me there.

Three pumps and I creamed all over his fingers, bucking my hips into the erection pressing into my belly.

“Good. Again. Until you say stop.” Jesse’s voice remained calm as he worked me over again, and again.

“I want to kiss you,” I begged, struggling to remain upside down but the inverted position made the scenario all that more erotic.

“Mmm.” Jesse stroked my slicked nether lips, and toyed with my clit, swiping his thumb across the tight nub as a I trembled in his arms.

God, I’d come just like this to a scenario I could swear was custom made to my own personal fantasy base. In fact, it was so similar to one I’d watched on my laptop a week before…

Oh, shit. He really was perfect.

“You knew!” I whimpered, squeezing my thighs tight.

“Open,” he commanded. “You’ve got a filthy little soul that matches mine, Bay. We were made for each other. Now, open. Your. Legs.”

And I did, letting him wreck me over and over.

Jesse rescued me after all, if not in the way I expected, and he could do that any day he liked.

Maybe with a break or two in between.
