Chapter 11
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Henley
He did what…
One month later
I sat on my porch, waiting for Maverick. It wasn’t like him to be late. I was about ready to call him when he appeared from his garage holding Hulk. My brows drew together, wondering why my dog was in his arms when Hulk had been in my house just minutes ago.
I was about to open my mouth to speak when Maverick cut me off. “Looks like we may be parents soon.”
I titled my head slightly and raised a brow, wondering if this was his way of proposing.
“Hulk burrowed under the fence and ran through the opening in my patio door again.”
“Don’t tell me. He jumped on your sofa and tore your pillow to shreds again.
” In the last month, I’d replaced two shredded pillows, men’s socks, a few of Millie’s toys, and his bathmat.
I took Hulk from his hands, feeling that same spark I felt every time our fingers touched.
The one that ran from the tips of my toes to the top of my head, making me all giddy inside.
“I wish it was as simple as that.” Maverick laughed and ran a hand down his face. “I found him violating the pillow.”
“What!”
“I saw it with my own eyes. Millie was lying on the floor watching Hulk do his duty. I was so dumbfounded that I couldn’t take my eyes off the disaster as it happened before me.
Before I knew it, my pillow was a wet mess, covered in Hulks seed and Millie was licking herself, trying to get her own self off.
” Maverick shook his head, “I can’t believe I stood there watching puppy porn.
My whole body shook as I laughed. “You must be scarred for life.”
Were you a bad boy today?” I asked, Hulk as I placed him on the floor.
He spun around in circles a few times before stopping, looking up at me with his tail wagging.
“Don’t get all lovey with me young man. You were a bad doggie today.
” His brows twitched as he moved his eyes away from mine.
He knew he was in trouble. “You’re going to go inside and think about what you did wrong.
” Hulk scampered away when I opened the front door.
Maverick patted the cushion next to him. “Why don’t you come sit here and let me show you all the wrong things I have planned for us tonight. Like starting with a kiss or two.”
I took the seat beside him, and his hand entwined in mine. “You shouldn’t punish him for doing what comes naturally. I just might be the one in time out later this evening.” Maverick smiled.
I nudged Maverick in the shoulder. “I don’t want him growing up and thinking he can mount anything that suits his fancy.”
“Point taken,” Maverick said, brushing the hair away from my face and kissing my lips.
“I hope you’re hungry; I baked lasagna for dinner,” I called out to him as I made my way toward the front door. Let me toss a salad together, and then we can eat.”
“Sounds good, dinner first and then you.”
I’d only left Maverick alone for less than thirty minutes, but when I returned, I found him relaxing on my sofa, flipping through the pages of my journal. Fear immediately filled me. “What are you doing?” I screeched.
He raised his head. His green eyes were filled with desire. “Dirty thoughts, huh?” He smiled, turning my journal sideways. Lord only knew what doodle he might be scrutinizing. “This is fascinating. Is this what you want?” Maverick dared me to answer.
