Chapter 5
CHAPTER FIVE
Was she dead?
Never had a man made her come that hard and never so quickly. She was lucky if they found her clit, let alone her G-spot. Kaleb had managed both. Maybe it was because she’d been wound so tight? After sucking him off, she was pretty sure a breeze along her clit would have had her coming.
Her heart was still racing when he kissed her mound and pulled her jeans to her thighs.
“Sorry, I’m going to need a little help here, carino.”
“You broke me,” she said without moving an inch.
Stroking his ego was probably a bad idea, but she was done for. If oral sex with this man made her a pile of bones, what would sex do to her? Her toes curled at the thought of sex. It had been about two years, if she didn’t count her vibrator.
“You’re too good for my self-esteem.” He chuckled as if he’d read her mind.
“I’ll probably regret letting you know.” With a sigh, she helped him dress her.
Kaleb pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead. Her heart did a flip, and she was sure within a matter of hours she’d be halfway back in love with Kaleb Perez.
“How about I feed you now?” he said as he threaded their fingers together. “How do you feel about french toast?”
Her stomach growled on command. “Clearly my body is not shy in telling you what it wants.”
He chuckled and kissed her cheek before leaving her by a stool. “Makes it a lot more fun.”
They shared a few stories as she watched him move around the kitchen. It was clear he’d been on his own for a while and comfortable in his space.
Carolina, lost in her thoughts, startled when Kaleb tipped her face to meet his eyes. “Sorry?”
“Where’d you go?”
She shook her head. “Just thinking.”
Kaleb reached for the two steaming plates of french toast and set one before her. “About?”
Carolina pursed her lips as she debated how much to say.
“Out with it.”
She shrugged. “Honestly?” Kaleb nodded and she continued.
“You’ve been back in my life for hours, and it feels like so much longer.
I would have never done”—she tipped her head toward the living room and shook her head—“I’d never have done any of that with someone I barely knew.
I’ve only slept with two guys in my entire life, and I was ready to make you my third. ”
Kaleb set down his fork and turned her to face him. “I haven’t been with a woman since Jennifer. It’s been almost four years.”
“Nuh-uh!” she blurted.
He raised a brow, his features darkening at the suggestion.
“No, I mean… Come on! Look at you! Really? You’re a great catch, Kaleb. It’s just hard to believe.”
Returning to his plate and cutting off the easy-going nature of their interaction, Kaleb shrugged. “I should have realized Jennifer had a problem. If I had, my son wouldn’t be without a mother, Lena. So please don’t put me on a pedestal.”
Carolina dropped her fork with a clank. “Oh, Kaleb! I’m sorry…
” She opened and closed her mouth a few times.
Words formed and disappeared as quickly as they’d come.
“I won’t tell you how to feel, but I will say this.
You can’t see what others don’t want you to see.
Beating yourself up for things out of your control won’t help you or Milo.
You’re human and have faults, and in time I hope you show them to me. ”
Pushing to her feet, she dumped the last of her food in the trash and set her dishes in the sink. She paused by Kaleb and kissed his cheek. “I’ll leave you to your thoughts. You know where to find me.”
