Chapter 27 Ruby
Ruby
Idon’t remember how I left his office.
Did I walk? Did I float? Did he carry me out like a fainting Victorian woman?
Honestly? All three feel equally possible.
My lips are still tingling. My knees are like water. My thoughts are… gone.
He kissed me.
He kissed me like he meant it. Like he’d been planning it. Like he’d been waiting.
And I,,, I kissed him back.
I didn’t just kiss him back, either. I practically climbed into his soul.
I turn the corner toward my department and have to grab the wall for balance.
“Oh god.”
Someone walks by and stares at me like I’m drunk.
I might be.
On hormones.
And billionaire pheromones.
My phone buzzes.
No. NO. NOT YET.
I don’t even look. I shove it in my bag and beeline toward the break room like it’s a bunker.
I pace. I breathe. I nearly cry. I nearly laugh.
I touch my lips with my fingertips.
He kissed me.
And the worst part?
The best part?
I want him to do it again.
My phone buzzes again.
Then again.
Then six times in a row.
Oh god.
I pull it out.
There it is.
The avalanche.
The Nasty Nine have sensed the disturbance in the Force.
