Chapter 4

Lucian

The woman in the red dress, who hasn't given me her name yet, is igniting things in my body I haven't felt in years.

After being so focused on my business, this is opening a whole new door of possibilities for me.

Will I ever see her again after this? Who knows?

But she is the most beautiful woman I've seen in ages.

I guess I wasn't looking before, but I sure am now. The fabric of the dress follows her voluptuous figure as if it were caressing every part of her body.

"We should go, then."

"Let's talk a bit while I finish my drink."

"Do you want me to order a snack or something?"

"I'm too nervous for that."

"You? Nervous?"

I realize that there are a few things that show her insecurity. How she's holding her drink as if it's a shield of some sort and how she shifts on her seat whenever I say something that is considered too forward.

"You haven't told me your name."

"I'm Kimber, and I'm here alone."

"Is this where I ask you what's a woman like you doing in a place like this?"

"Oh, God, that is such a cheesy line."

The truth is I am wondering why such a gorgeous woman is here at this couples resort all alone. Could she be a workaholic like me?

"I can tell you why I'm all alone in this resort. I was banished from my office by my assistant. She booted me from the office saying I'm a terrible workaholic and that I needed some rest."

"She has that much power over you?"

"She runs my life. I trust her completely."

She suddenly looks sad, and I kick myself for whatever it is that I said that made her look like this.

"I'm sorry…"

"No. It's not you. My reason for being alone here is sad. I found my fiance cheating on me on our wedding day. So I dumped him and went on what was supposed to be our honeymoon by myself. What do you say to that?"

"I think you were lucky. What if you'd gone through with it and then years after found out the truth?"

"I guess you're right. I'm still embarrassed, though. I mean a professional woman like me should be able to keep her man, right?"

"Sometimes it's not meant to be, Kimber."

Her name sounds good coming from my lips.

"I had our whole life built up in my mind, and then this happens."

"Maybe you need to live life in the moment instead."

I wonder how forward I can be with this beautiful woman as I reach underneath the table and put my hand on her knee. She jumps at the jolt of energy that happens at the touch. Her eyes darken immediately with lust, and she licks her lips again the way she did the first time she laid eyes on me.

Her skin is soft to the touch and my hand wants to keep exploring. I let Kimber set the pace, though. If she feels comfortable with my touch, then we can move forward.

"You still want me?"

"I see a bright, beautiful woman that is not afraid to express her sexuality. I want you now more than ever, knowing you've overcome something earth shattering and are ready to take a new path where you'll be fulfilled and satisfied."

"Is there a promise in there somewhere?"

"I can promise you'll have the best night of your life if you spend it with me."

The lust in her eyes fades somewhat, and I see doubt come into them. I move my hand up from her knee to her thigh and trace light circles on her skin with my thumb.

"All you have to do is let go, Kimber."

"I'm not so sure I can do that, Lucian. That's a very sexy name, by the way."

"You can scream it out every time I make you come tonight."

She lowers her eyes, and her cheeks turn pink. She blushes so prettily I want to say dirty things to her so it happens again and again. Her skin is warmer the further I go up her thigh and I expect her to stop me at any moment.

"You seem very sure of yourself."

"There's only one way to find out how this night ends, princess."

I take back my hand and offer it to her. She sips the last remnants of her drink and takes it. I pay for our drinks and place my hand on her lower back, ushering her towards the elevators.

"Your place or mine?" I ask her.

"There's champagne in mine."

That's all I need to hear. We get into the elevator and activate it with her card. She chooses her floor and stands back against the wall of the elevator. She looks a little nervous to me, so I take matters into my own hands. I pick up her hand and kiss the back of it.

Next I turn her hand around and kiss the palm of it. After placing a heated kiss there, I kiss the pulse point at her wrist. This makes her skin break out in goosebumps. I lean back to see her eyes. Her gaze is heated again, and she's licking her lips as if she's starved for me.

I like seeing her this way. I reach for her head and hold it in my hands. Her hair is a cascade of curls that I'm going to love running my fingers through, and her lips call to me. I lower my lips to hers and kiss her. The kiss is gentle, and I take my time exploring her.

We almost don't realize when the elevator stops on her floor. I straighten and help her out of the elevator. We walk in silence to her room, which I suspect is a suite, just like mine. She hands me the key when we get to her door and I pause for a moment.

"Kimber, this is your decision. I can come in with you or leave without you. What will it be?"

"I want you to make all those promises you made to me a reality."
