Chapter 24
CHAPTER 24
A lex
“What’s in that box?” Lucy pointed to the second box on the kitchen counter.
“Dessert. I’m having dinner with Hannah tonight.”
“Oh.” She looked down. “I thought we were having dinner together.”
“We’ll have dinner together tomorrow night. Mara wants to spend some time with you alone since she hasn’t seen you in a while.”
“Whatever. Can you hire me a tennis coach?”
“A tennis coach?” My brows furrowed.
“I like tennis. I want to get better at playing it so I can try out for the tennis team at school next year.”
“Since when do you like tennis? You’ve never mentioned that before.”
“Mom and I used to play all the time. I haven’t played since she died because that was the last thing we did together. But I’m ready now to start playing again.”
“I’m sorry, sweetheart. I had no idea. Let me see how good you are.” I smiled. “There’s tennis rackets and balls in the garage. Let’s take them out back to the tennis courts.”
“Okay!”
“You’ve been holding out on me. I had no idea you were this good.”
“Mom started teaching me since I was old enough to hold a racquet,” she said.
“Your mom and I used to play sometimes.”
“I know. She told me.” She ran after the ball. “So, will you hire me a coach?”
“You bet.” I hooked my arm around her and went back into the house.
After Mara took Lucy out to dinner, I grabbed the dessert box and walked to the guesthouse.
“Hi.” Hannah grinned, opening the door.
“Hi. I bring a delicious dessert.”
“Oh, I love desserts. What is it?” she asked as she took the box from me.
“Open the box and find out. It smells delicious in here.”
“Thanks.” She opened the box and stared at the triple-berry cheesecake.
“Damn, this looks delicious. I love cheesecake. Thanks for bringing it.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I saw you and Lucy earlier on the tennis court. I didn’t know you played.” She reached into the refrigerator and handed me a beer.
“It’s been a while. I grew up playing. Do you play?”
“Actually, I do.” She smiled.
“Lucy wants me to hire her a tennis coach.”
“I think it’s a great idea. Dinner is almost ready, so go take your seat.”
I sat down at the table. Hannah walked over with a large bowl of pasta and meatballs and a plate of garlic bread.
“You made this?” I looked at her.
“Yes, I did, Mr. Harbor. It’s a recipe my mom brought back with her from Italy.”
I placed some pasta and meatballs on my plate and took a bite.
“Wow. Wow. This is delicious.”
“Thank you.” She grinned. “I’m happy you like it.”
“Somehow, I think I’d like anything you cook.” I winked.
“Don’t be rushing to that conclusion.” She laughed. “I can’t cook much.”
I stared at her with a smile, admiring how beautiful she looked.
“In a couple of weeks, I’ll be working right across the street from the flower shop.”
“You will?” Her brows furrowed. “In the town building?”
“Yeah. Steven is retiring, and I’m taking my rightful place running this town. Just as my parents had done.”
“Congratulations. How will you manage two towns and a business back in Chicago?”
“I’ll manage it.” I smiled as I finished my dinner. “Damn, Hannah. That was excellent. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Dessert?”
“Maybe in a little bit.” I stood up and held out my hand. “Put on some music and dance with me.”
All I wanted was to hold her close to me.
She put on a song, took my hand, and we slowly danced in the middle of the room. I leaned my face close to hers, taking in the scent of the floral Joe Malone perfume she wore. My cock twitched with excitement and was quickly rising to the occasion. Our lips met—our tongues collided. When the song ended, I dipped her and kissed her again.
“I think dessert can wait.” She grinned.
“Good, because I can’t.” I swooped her in my arms and carried her up the stairs.
Our clothes flew off faster than lightning could strike. After exploring her entire body with my mouth, I dipped multiple fingers inside her, pleasuring her while sexy moans escaped her lips. She orgasmed again, and I loved it. I needed to be inside her, but she had other plans first. Climbing off the bed, she told me to sit up at the edge of the bed. Getting down on her knees, she wrapped her lips around my hard throbbing cock and sucked it like no other woman had before. Leaning back on the bed, I closed my eyes and took in the extreme pleasure of her mouth. The way she sucked sent shivers through my body. I was going to come, so I stopped her.
“I need to be inside you right now. Get up here.” I commanded.
I lay on my back as her body straddled mine. With her hands planted firmly on my chest, she slowly slid down my cock until I was buried deep inside her. A growl erupted in my chest as my hands paid special attention to her beautiful and perky breasts. Her hips moved back and forth, grinding against me as I was about to lose all control. Our eyes locked as her moans picked up in sound, and she orgasmed again. Gripping her hips, I held her down, moaning in pleasure as I exploded inside her. Before climbing off me, she leaned closer and smiled, kissing my lips.

I felt high—higher than a kite. My body trembled as I rolled onto my back. Sex with him was more intimate than with any man I’d ever been with. We shared a connection—I felt it and know he felt it, too. Denying the chemistry between us would be wrong on so many levels. I was in love with him, even though I tried so hard to push that emotion away. After the other day and the argument we had, I was done—done with him and whatever this thing was we had. But then, one look my way with those baby blue eyes and the captivating smile he displayed, I was done for. He reeled me back in hook, line, and sinker.
“How about we save the dessert for tomorrow, and I give you another orgasm or two before I leave,” he said, taking a strand of my hair between his fingers.
“I’ll take those over cheesecake any day.” I smiled.
“That’s exactly what I wanted to hear.” His lips met mine as he rolled on top of me.
The following day, I rolled over, and my hand hit the empty side of the bed where Alex should have been. I understood why he couldn’t stay, but I would’ve given anything to wake up next to him—to lay wrapped in his arms all night and be showered with kisses.
Climbing out of bed, I went to the kitchen for a cup of coffee before I showered. Looking out the kitchen window, I saw Alex standing on the patio, shirtless, holding a cup of coffee in his hand. He sat down in one of the loungers and ran his hand through his hair. He looked distressed, and I wanted to run out there and ask him if he was okay. Then Lucy opened the sliding door, and he went back inside.
After getting dressed, I hopped into my car and drove to the art gallery. When I went to open the door, it was locked. Luis turned, saw it was me, and quickly rushed over and unlocked it.
“Good morning, darling.”
“Morning, Luis. Is Addy here yet?”
“Not yet. She called and told me she’d be a little late. Morning sickness has the best of her this morning. You’re glowing.” He grinned. “Did someone have fun with Alex last night?”
“I did.” I smiled. “Ugh, Luis. I’m in love with him and don’t know what to do. I’m not sure he feels the same way.”
“Why do you think that?”
“Because he’s Alex Harbor. He doesn’t get involved in relationships.”
“That was Chicago Alex Harbor. Now, he’s Harbor Falls Alex Harbor.”
“It doesn’t matter. He’s still the same man.”
“Aw, come here.” He hooked his arm around me. “He wouldn’t keep asking you out if he wasn’t interested.”
“Or he’s just using me for sex.” I lay my head on his shoulder.
“Is that so bad? You’re both winning in that department.”
“My heart can’t take being broken again.”
“Honestly, Hannah. I’m pretty sure Alex Harbor is infatuated with you, and before you know it, he’ll be asking you to be his girlfriend.”
“You really think so?” I lifted my head and looked at him.
“I know so.” He smiled, tapping the end of my nose.
“Thanks, Luis. I have to get to the shop. My office furniture is being delivered today.”
“I can’t believe you’re finally opening next week. I’m going to be your number one customer. You know how I love fresh flowers around the house.”
“I know.” I smiled. “And I’m going to make you the most beautiful floral arrangement you’ve ever seen.”
“I’m holding you to that.” He pointed at me as I left the shop.
