CHAPTER 27

Riggs

Why does she look like she wants to take a bite out of me?

“Hold on,” she says. “There’s something I’ve been wanting to do.” She’s sitting up with the covers over her lap, sporting a wicked grin.

We’ve been lying in bed in our underwear for hours, just talking, mostly about her mother, but also about what happens next. We’re hungry, so I got up to find a menu for room service.

“What?”

“Come here.” She motions for me to come to her side of the bed. I think she wants a kiss.

I come around in my black, tight-fitting jockey shorts. I’ve never liked boxers. Not enough support. I go to lean down to give her a kiss when she stops me.

“What are you doing?”

I straighten. “I thought you wanted—”

“I know what I want. Turn around.”

“What?”

“I said, turn around.”

“Okay.”

I do as she asks and she grabs my ass with both hands.

But she doesn’t just grab the cheeks—she squeezes, massages, rubs, pinches, and smacks them hard…

well, I’m assuming it’s hard for her. All I feel is the need to bend her over and punish her by stretching her pussy with my cock again.

Man, I’ve never had someone dig their nails into my ass, but when she did, it sent me over the edge.

I guess what they say is true, there’s a fine line between pleasure and pain. Who knew I’d be so turned on by it?

After a minute I start to laugh. “Okay, had enough?”

She slaps my cheeks hard with an open palm one more time. “Yep, I’m good.”

“You crack me up.”

“Did you know I swallow? But only if you let me play with that ass whenever I want.”

I’m speechless. I mean, I want to say something, but my tongue won’t work. Holy shit! I get a grip and give her a devilish grin. “Baby, this ass is all yours.”

“That’s what I thought. Now, find the menu. I’m starving.”

Food is the last thing on my mind now, but I guess that can wait.

I find the menu and crawl back into bed so we can look at it together.

It feels like we’ve known each other forever, like this is routine for us.

I’ve never been with anyone who makes me feel this way.

Usually, after sex, like right after, I’m ready to leave.

But not with her. She’s so much more than I expected and I wish we could stay like this forever.

We already decided that she needs to catch the first flight home today and that I’ll go with her. She’ll need all the help she can get to make the funeral arrangements, but that’s only part of the reason. The other is obvious. We don’t want to be apart.

We did have one little speed bump though. When I told her I’d cover all the funeral expenses, she did exactly what I expected and flat-out refused.

“When you do that, you make me feel like a gold-digging bimbo. This isn’t about money for me,” she said.

She tried to argue, but I put that notion to bed quick. “Three words.”

With her head cocked defiantly to the side she sneered, “And they are?”

“Dodge. Ram. Trucks.”

She crossed her arms with a huff and shot me the meanest scowl.

I laughed with, “I win.”

From room service I order two eggs and some toast for her and half the menu for me. She sure knows how to work up a man’s appetite. Ever since we put our underwear back on, I’ve been starving. “They said it will be about forty-five minutes,” I tell her.

She checks her phone. “Rhonda should be up by now. I should probably call and tell her what happened. If I wait any longer, she’ll never forgive me.”

“Good idea. I need to tell Ash I plan to go with you today.”

It’s too distracting to try to talk to my brother while she’s on the phone with Rhonda, so I go into the living room.

“Oh man, bro, that sucks.”

I’m sure he’s recalling what it was like when we found out about our mom.

“Yeah. We’re heading out this afternoon. I’m going to stay there until we have to leave for New Zealand. That’ll give me two more weeks with her. You okay with that?”

“No problem. I think we’ll have an answer from the network in a few days. Elsie and I can handle that. Do what you gotta do, and don’t worry about us.”

“Thanks.” I pause for a moment and then address the elephant. “You’re not going to ask?”

“Nope.”

“Probably better this way.”

“Yep.”

When it comes to the women we’re seeing and what we’re doing with them, we tend to stay out of each other’s business.

Good thing for me because I don’t want to hear about Maddie being a future notch on his staff.

Besides, with how smitten he is with Rhonda, I’d say he’s living in a glass house which is probably why he’s not giving me a hard time about it?

“One more thing,” I say. “Maddie says she wants Rhonda to stay here with you.”

“I’m glad, but why?”

“She says she just needs to deal with this on her own for now.”

“I can see that. Rhonda stepped out to take a call. Is Maddie telling her now?”

“Yeah.”

He pauses for a moment before saying, “Rhonda will probably be hysterical, but tell Maddie not to worry about it, I can handle her.”

“I know you can. Just wanted to give you the heads-up.”

“I appreciate that. To be clear, Rhonda is still going home Monday night, right?”

“That’s the plan. They have Monday off, but Rhonda needs to be at work first thing Tuesday morning.”

“Makes sense. I wanted to take her back to Colorado for a couple of weeks but she said she couldn’t. Sounds like she and Maddie are pretty dedicated to that fabric store. I don’t get it.”

“I got the same impression. I think they feel a sense of obligation to their boss. You don’t see employees like that these days.”

“Probably because most bosses are corporate assholes.”

“You got that right.” We both hated our corporate managers before Elsie rescued us from our soul-sucking jobs. Thank goodness she did. “Call me if you need anything.”

“You know I will. Take care of that girl.”

“I will. Talk to you later.”

I hang up and peek into the bedroom. As expected, Maddie is still on the phone.

I listen for a second and it sounds like their conversation isn’t going to end anytime soon.

Might as well get dressed and have a beer from the stocked bar.

Maybe two. I foresee a solo night of sitting on the sofa watching TV while thinking about what Maddie said earlier.

Did you know I swallow?

Make that six beers.
