6. Luxury living
Cara was the most exquisite woman Fred had ever seen.
She was dressed quite demurely, her smart black dress reaching almost to her knees, where it met her smart leather boots, but there was something about the way she moved that screamed sex.
She wore her hair in a high ponytail which swished as she turned her head, which would have made her look quite severe, had she not been smiling all the time.
She looked completely out of place sitting on a bar stool in The Rock Tavern.
“Pleased to meet you, Fred,” she said, her voice as smooth as silk and her eyes smouldering as she extended a hand towards him. “I’m Cara Christie, estate agent to the stars and all the weird and wonderful clients Bob sends my way. I hear you’ve just come into a lot of money!”
Fred took her hand and brought it to his lips, placing an enraptured kiss on the back of it.
Cara giggled and turned to Shandy.
“Haven’t you taught him about shaking hands yet?” she laughed.
“I’ll add it to my list!” Shandy laughed back.
“So… I’ve found the perfect apartment for a magical immigrant with money to burn.
There’s a new building right next to the Thames, and the developer owed me a favour.
He’s given me the chance to sell the pent house before any of the other floors are even inhabited.
It would mean having no neighbours at all, which is ideal while you’re settling in. ”
Fred looked confused. “I can’t stay here?”
“Not forever,” Bob explained. “I have to be ready for the next arrival.”
Fred’s chest lurched at the thought of leaving The Rock Tavern, and Shandy. He had so much left to learn. Surely they couldn’t be kicking him out already!
“You’re always welcome to come back here though! And I can come and visit too!” Shandy grinned, giving him a reassuring pat on the arm.
“Shandy’s lovely, isn’t she?” Cara said as they climbed into her sleek black car. “She makes all the new arrivals feel at home.”
Fred caught her eye. It was obvious she was trying to judge how attached he had become to Shandy. He blushed as her eyes swept his body and she gave a quick nod of appreciation.
“We’ve had all sorts come through recently, but none of them were quite like you. Bob said you’re an elf, but you’re nothing like any of the elves I’ve seen before. They were all scrawny, suspicious types, not hot, bearded, muscle-bound hunks!”
He watched her wriggle in her seat as she drove slowly through the London traffic. Her movements were confident and utterly incomprehensible to him. She caught him watching how her feet moved up and down.
“I’ve never seen someone drive one of these before,” Fred admitted, blushing. “It was more horse and cart where I came from.”
“Cute! So you’re a real man then? Used to working the land, hunting your own food?”
“Something like that,” Fred laughed, unwilling to admit that all of that was done for him.
“I like a man who’s good with his hands,” Cara said, reaching across and squeezing his knee, before her hand went back to controlling their journey through the maze of cars.
“So, this apartment is really special. You’ll have an amazing view of St Paul’s, and easy access to the busy South Bank, but you’ll be so far above it all that you could be anywhere in the world.
There are five bedrooms, a home cinema, and even a roof-top garden with a pool.
We’re just approaching the underground car park now.
This part is still a bit of a building site, but the Pent House is already perfect. ”
They drove down a bumpy ramp into a concrete hollow, clearly unfinished. Only Cara’s headlights lit the way, and when they got out of the car, they were soon plunged into darkness.
“I’ll just get my phone out. It’s got a tor…”
Before Cara could finish her sentence, a figure leapt from the shadows, grabbed her bag, and ran for the hazy light of the entrance.
Anger coursed through Fred’s veins, and pulsed through his arms into the palms of his hands. He sent a burst of pure rage at the legs of the fleeing thief, knocking him to the ground on his face and sending the bag flying.
Fred strode over to the stunned man, and turned him over onto his back with his foot.
“How dare you take her bag! What kind of man attacks an unarmed woman like that?”
The thief looked up with terror in his eyes, wriggling and trying to make his legs work again. He started burbling “Sorry!” over and over again, and tried to pull himself away on his arms. Fred felt his anger calm a little. The danger was over.
“You’re lucky I’m in a good mood,” Fred rumbled. “I could end your miserable life now if I wanted. When your legs start working again, get out of here. If you ever come back, I’ll finish you.”
He scooped up Cara’s bag, turning his back on the petty criminal and returned to Cara’s side as if nothing had happened. His eyes had adjusted to the gloom now. He passed Cara her bag, and she took his arm, her eyes shining with admiration.
“Thank you,” she breathed, reaching up to plant a tiny kiss on his cheek. “Your private lift is just over here.
She pressed her thumb against a panel in the wall, and a pair of metal doors slid apart, revealing a tiny, mirrored room.
“That was the sexiest thing a man has ever done for me,” Cara murmured, as they stepped into the elevator together.
She stood so close to him now that he felt her breath on his neck. He knew he wasn’t imagining this. There was no way to misunderstand these signs. He felt his cock hardening as he looked down at her cherry red lips. She pulled herself up again onto tiptoes and their lips met.
