Jett #2
I look over the terms of the contract Baron just sent to me on my iPad.
He spelled it out clear as day. Win, or I’m gone.
Win, or Vance is traded. He also sent a note reminding me conversations with him are confidential under the terms of my contract.
In other words, Vance isn’t allowed to know anything. I can’t believe it’s come to this.
I take a sip of wine and let it slide down my throat, taking the edge off slightly but not nearly enough. My shoulders are so tight. I feel like they’re practically in my ears.
As if the universe knows exactly what I need, I hear the sliding glass doors open.
Turning toward them, I see Fallon step outside.
She smiles, and I swear my heart skips a beat.
“There you are. I was looking for you.” She shivers in her loose-fitting, adorable Beavers sweatpants and sweatshirt. “It’s so cold tonight.”
I open my arms in invitation. “I’ll keep you warm. Come here, angel face. Sit on my lap and tell me about your day.”
She raises an amused eyebrow. “Your lap? Should I call you Daddy while I do so?”
I briefly squeeze my eyes shut at those words leaving her lips. “Only if you want me to blow my load in under a minute,” I honestly answer.
She giggles as she walks toward me and gingerly sits across my lap, as if she could ever hurt me. I wrap my arms around her and softly kiss her lips. I can physically feel the stress from moments ago exiting my body.
She smiles as she whispers against my mouth, “Hi, Daddy Jett. What ails you?”
She screeches as I immediately harden under her. “I told you what would happen if you called me that.”
She brushes her lips over mine and teases, “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy.”
A small groan leaves my mouth as I easily lift her to straddle me, placing her soft center over my now very hard one.
With her fingers running through my hair, I go to remove my glasses, but she stops me and breathes, “Don’t take them off.
I love them. Not that you need more, but it only adds to your sex appeal. ”
I leave them on and run my fingers under her sweatshirt over the softness of her bare back. With our faces only an inch or so apart, I admit, “I missed you today.”
Her blue eyes stare lovingly into mine as if she’s reading me. “Tell me what’s wrong. Let me share your burden.”
We trade sips of wine from my glass as I tell her about my conversation with DeBurg. The coldness. The threats. The ultimatum. The lack of loyalty and appreciation.
“Wow,” she breathes. “I can’t believe they’re treating you like this.” Her brow creases. “Is it possible you would have to take a job somewhere else? I’ve never considered that. Jett Jeffries has been synonymous with Philly football for two decades.”
I shake my head. “I’m not going anywhere. I’d never leave my kids, and I wouldn’t leave…you.”
She cups my rough cheeks with her delicate, soft hands. “What about a job? You need to work. What would you do?”
I shrug. “I have more money than I’ll ever need.
I’d be just as happy to coach at the local high school now that Pierce won’t be playing there.
I wouldn’t have wanted to overshadow him before, but he’s graduating.
” I shake my head. “As much as it hurts on a personal level, I honestly have no ego in this. I’m more concerned for Vance.
He’s had a rough life. This team is his family.
No one knows this, not even Daylen, but Vance restructured his contract last year so the team could keep Daylen.
He basically gave money back so his best friend could stay.
That’s the kind of man he is. I just…” I can feel tears pool in my eyes.
“I can’t let them trade him. I don’t know what to do.
It’s technically a breach of my contract to tell him, but my gut tells me I should at least warn him so he’s prepared. I’m terribly conflicted.”
A small smile finds her full, luscious lips.
“You know exactly what to do.” She runs her index finger down over my nose, lips, and chin.
“You are the most beautiful man I’ve ever met in my life.
” Her finger continues down my neck and chest until it’s over my heart.
“As beautiful as the packaging is, it’s what’s inside that’s the most beautiful.
” She taps her fingers on the left side of my chest. “I was always physically attracted to Jett, but I fell for Lloyd. Lloyd is who you are on the inside. Lloyd isn’t a physically sexy man.
Lloyd isn’t a football superstar. Lloyd is kind.
Lloyd is thoughtful. Lloyd has integrity.
You’re going to talk to Vance about this because it’s the right thing to do.
You’ll be able to live with yourself if you get fired for breach of contract.
You won’t be able to live with yourself if Vance is blindsided. ”
I nod as my forehead meets hers. “I’ve never had this, Fallon.”
“Had what?” she asks.
“This level of intimacy. This trust. The ability to talk to someone openly and honestly about my life and know they have no other motive than wanting what’s best for me. It’s really nice. Special.”
She runs the tip of her nose over mine as she removes my glasses from my face. “You can always trust me. You’re not alone anymore.”
I nod as emotions overcome me. I want to tell her I love her. It’s clear as day to me that I’m madly in love with this woman. Beau told me that I can’t say it until the six-month mark, but I hope she can feel it.
The need to kiss her is overwhelming. I bring my lips to hers, relishing in her unique, sweet taste. She returns the gesture, locking her lips over mine before slowly brushing my lower lip with her tongue.
With my hands still on her back, I pull her close. She rolls her soft body over my rock-solid erection and moans into my mouth.
We kiss for minutes on end, savoring the feeling, in no rush to move things along. At some point, it begins to drizzle. Despite the chillier temperature, the rain feels good on my overheated skin.
The rain grows harder until it’s a full-on downpour, but it’s not remotely deterring this storybook kiss. Nothing can break this connection we share.
Her fingers scrape across my scalp. Her body gyrates over mine, causing pre-ejaculate to leak from my tip. This woman.
Before I know it, she’s removed her sweatshirt and then mine, uncaring about the weather around us. I hear each hit the puddled patio with a loud plop, already soaked all the way through.
Rain drenches both of us, but neither of us seems to care. It’s about our connection. Our unrivaled passion.
The need to feel all of her is overwhelming. I’m about to remove her bra when a loud, intruding crackle sounds, and the sky is illuminated with lightning.
