Jett
Tanner’s New Year’s Eve party has turned into an impromptu engagement party. When we went inside—after making our way through a long line of well-wishers—it was already decorated accordingly.
I’d personally rather get the hell out of here and get reacquainted with Fallon’s body, but that will have to wait until later. I want to allow time for Harper to bask in the celebration, and I think she needs to see us happy together.
That doesn’t mean I’ll stop kissing my future bride. I can’t keep my lips or hands off her, finding it hard to believe that not only is she mine again, but she’ll also be mine for the rest of our lives.
Tucked snugly where she belongs, under my arm, Fallon looks around. “This is not what it looked like in here twenty minutes ago. That was a bizarrely fast turnaround time. What if I said no?” she says with the playful glimmer back in her gorgeous eyes.
I smile down at my fiancée. “Then I would have been out a pretty penny.”
“Your penny?” she asks.
“You didn’t think I was going to let your ex-husband pay for our engagement celebration, did you? It was bad enough I agreed to propose here.”
“Agreed to propose here? Was it a negotiation?” she jokes.
I nod toward Kennedy. “This was her brainchild. She and I had a really good talk on Christmas Eve. Maybe the best conversation we’ve ever had. It’s weird when your kids start to parent you. Our kids will have to grandparent me. I’ll be at an old age home when they’re Kennedy’s age.”
Fallon giggles, and it’s music to my ears. I keep getting lost in the smile that’s been on her face since she accepted my proposal.
Kennedy appears from nowhere, with Daylen annoyingly draped all over her. That motherfucker never stops touching her.
“Did I hear my name?” she asks.
Fallon nods. “You did. I understand this was all your idea.”
She shrugs. “I hate it when Mommy and Daddy fight. It was about fucking time you two got your shit together.”
I’m about to chastise my daughter when Fallon beats me to the punch. “Stop cursing. It’s uncouth. Don’t make me give you a timeout, young lady.”
Kennedy’s amused eyes meet mine before returning to Fallon. “Yes, Mommy. Should I call you Coach Mommy now?” She looks up at Daylen. “Am I officially a nepo baby?” she asks him excitedly.
He nods. “Yep. Just like me. Right, Coach Daddy?”
I deadpan, “Consider yourself benched.”
He lets out one of his ridiculous laughs. “Yeah, right. I’m a stud.”
Kennedy nods emphatically. “Damn right, baby.” Her fingertips run from his chest down to his belt before she tugs on it. “You’re my stud.”
“Oh, Christ,” I breathe.
Daylen chuckles as he slaps my shoulder. “Coach, let me tell you something about marriage. The key to a happy, long-lasting marriage is that your wife does whatever she wants to do and you do whatever your wife wants to do.”
I roll my eyes. “You’ve been married for five minutes.”
“Ahh, but that’s five minutes longer than you,” he happily responds.
I sigh before Harper’s little body jumps up into my arms, and I catch her. “My daddy says you’re gonna be my bonus daddy. He said I’m so lucky that I now have a bonus mommy and a bonus daddy.”
My heart can’t take it. I nod. “I’m feeling very lucky for my bonus daughter.”
She bats her eyelashes. “Bonus Daddy, can I stay up extra late tonight because it’s a special occasion?”
I look at Fallon, and she subtly nods. Moving my eyes back to Harper’s, I acquiesce, “Okay. No problem.”
She smiles at Kennedy and loudly whispers, “Pretty privilege. It works every time.”
Kennedy high-fives her. “Truth.”
