Chapter 32

CHAPTER 32

CHANCE

“I can honestly say I didn’t think we’d be here like this again so soon.”

Tank shook his head at my lopsided grin. He wasn’t all that amused by my joke. Not when I was the one on bedrest after waking up from being drugged by our enemies.

Oddly enough, I wasn’t all that upset about how things played out. According to the tapes we watched after the fact, this was an inevitable thing.

Lune was always going to come after Tank. And being part of my boyfriend’s life meant I wound up in their crosshairs.

It just so happened the entire team was hit with a blow this time around.

“Don’t joke about your health,” he said as he stroked over my jaw. “I want you around for a very long time. We can’t make light of you nearly dying.”

I rolled my eyes. “The doctor told you I didn’t nearly die. We’re all fine. Why aren’t you worrying over the rest of the team as much?”

“Because we’re all mostly trained for this. Plus, you know, he’s not in love with any of us,” Memphis sassed as he strode into the room.

His words made Tank scowl. “What are you doing in here? Is everything ok?”

“Sure is. Just wanted to let you know that the meat is in the freezer for later. The doc got it all patched up nicely.”

I raised my brow at his words. If I had to guess what that was code for, I’d have to go with Lune and Pratt being held somewhere after the doctor checked Lune’s bullet wound. One glace at Tank told me I was right. His sinister grin only came out when he was speaking of revenge or torture. I’d seen it a lot these last few days.

“Excellent! Thank you for coming to tell us.”

Unable to let things go, Memphis pressed, “When are you going to let your pet roam free?”

I grinned widely. “Oh, I’m not the pet here.”

Tank avoided looking at me, though his tight shoulders and avoidance proved to be enough evidence. Memphis guffawed loudly before he could stop himself.

With raised hands, he slowly backed out of the room. “I didn’t hear a word, boss. Not a single pet name related thing.”

As soon as the door shut, Tank groaned. “Why did you have to tell him that? He’s going to use it at the most inappropriate moments.”

“Because it was funny and ironic. Because I’m tired of being trapped in this bed. Because I want to remind you that you are indeed my pet.”

My voice had gone husky the more I spoke. I hadn’t meant to tease him, really. It was just hard not to when he walked around looking so fucking hot and demanding.

I’d known Tank for so long, I thought there would be nothing else to learn about him. That many years should have meant I knew all there was to know.

Except I’d never seen him in his element.

Not fully, anyway.

But what a sight it was.

Tank as the leader of NightShade Security was the stuff wet dreams were based on. His ability to lead and guide his team, along with the ease with which he carried himself, made everything else fade into the background. There was only him.

And I was addicted.

“When are you going to let me out of this bed?” I asked.

“I’m not sure.”

The admitted words were a whisper in the space between us.

I shook my head. “Baby, you have to trust that I’m ok. It’s been days. The doctor gave everyone else clearance after twenty-four hours. Why am I being held back?”

“Because I almost lost you!”

“What??”

He sighed, scrubbing his eyes as his voice softened. “I almost lost you. Lune and Pratt got too close. They had you drugged and strapped to a chair right in front of me. The man held a gun to your head.”

“I know,” I told him. “I watched the security footage.”

Luckily, Memphis had the foresight to monitor the coming and goings of the war room. It wasn’t anything someone could access unless they wired into his computer directly, which gave us a touch of privacy.

For its purpose though, it showed to be valuable in filling in the blanks of our abduction. It also showed the guys there was a need for tighter protection in house. The fact that those two managed to get in at all was enough to make them want to change things.

“Then you understand why I can’t just let it go. I need to know you’re safe.”

Reaching out, I took his hand in mind. “Baby, there is no such thing as one hundred percent safe. To keep me here is to turn me into a caged bird. Neither of us wants that.”

His gaze dropped to our hands. I waited for him to say something because it seemed like there was more to what he wanted. Like he’d been holding back.

“Move in with me.”

Wait, what?

That wasn’t at all what I was expecting.

Despite my surprise, I easily said, “Yes,”

Tank’s eyes met mine. “Really? You’ll do it?”

“Of course I will. Especially since I think it means you’re willing to let me up out of this bed. I want to start our life together. To build a space with you where we don’t have to hide any longer.”

“That means some big changes,” he said solemnly.

“I know. And I’m ready for them. Life is too short to pretend to be someone I’m not. If I can’t win this election based on who I truly am with the person I love beside me, then I don’t want it.”

The smile he shot my way was filled with love.

“Then that’s what we’ll do. First we move in together. Then we tackle everything else.”

‘Sounds like the start of an amazing future.”

In the wake of Lune and Pratt’s attack, things at NightShade changed. The guys were more relaxed yet also more aware. They upgraded the security of the building, along with putting in sensors all over the place should someone need to activate a distress beacon.

I was told time and time again that it was a precaution. With each new level of security, I wondered just how true it was. Some of their measures made sense. While others were outlandish.

“No! I will absolutely not wear this necklace all the time.” I put my foot down on the issue.

Memphis frowned as he held up the device. “Listen, Chance, we didn’t have a lot of say in the design, you know. Let’s just accept this as Tank’s need for right now. You can wear it under your clothes.”

“So I can look like some knockoff superhero? No thanks. I don’t need any of that. Where’s Tank? I’ll go talk to him about it.”

“He went upstairs to your place,” Memphis replied with a sigh.

I took off for the private elevator. It was time to look my boyfriend in the eye and tell him how ridiculous he was being.

To think he believed I’d just go along with it. That thing was so big and bulky. It looked four times the size of the one I’ve seen advertised for elderly people on tv.

When I made it to our place, I expected to find Tank in his office. It only made sense given it was the middle of the afternoon. Why else would he be up here?

My answer came the second I stepped into our bedroom.

Because there was my boyfriend, ass in the air, as he pressed two fingers into his ass.

His eyes were fixed on the door, almost like he expected me to walk through it at this exact moment. He couldn’t have known unless he…

“You asshole,” I groaned as I let the last of my anger fade.

I strode to the bed, stopping only once I was hovering over him.

Tank arched his back, letting out a hoarse, “Hey, babe.”

“Don’t you try to sweet talk me. You rile me up, then have the nerve to tempt me with this ass.” I smacked said ass to be sure he knew I was still in the moment for our game.

Whatever brought on this moment, I was happy to continue with the charade. Especially if it ended with me buried inside him.

It had been far too long.

Between his kidnapping, the healing that came after, the strike from Lune and Pratt, and then him mother henning me from being drugged, we’d gone the longest without being together since we met.

He didn’t have to say a word for me to know he’s losing steam. It was in the way his hand has slowed, and his upper body has dropped into the pillows below him.

I reached out, snagging his wrist. “I’m going to take over. Be sure to spread those fingers for me. I need room to fit.”

Tank nodded against the bed, mumbled pleas falling from his lips. I take control then. My grip on his wrist was firm as I pulled his fingers out and pushed them back in.

It was his fingers in his ass, yet I’m the one in control. The speed, the pressure. It was all me.

With the type of precision that came from knowing your partner for as long as we have, I edged him within an inch of his life. He panted and moaned, his body arching this way and that to fight from coming.

He knows what will happen if he goes too soon.

“Baby,” I coo. “What’s wrong? Do you want me to stop?”

“No! God, please, no!”

“You don’t have to start praying. I’ll take care of everything you need.”

I yanked his fingers free and flipped him onto his back. While he blinked against the sudden change, I stripped out of my clothes. I didn’t even try to make it sexy. My only focus was on getting naked and inside him.

“Lube?” I questioned.

His hand waved at the nightstand where a slim bottle sits. I don’t know how I missed it.

Maybe because I couldn’t keep my eyes off him.

I covered myself from base to tip, stroking as I kept a steady eye on him. His cock bounced between his legs, proud and ready for my touch.

Climbing on the bed, I told him, “Raise your knees, baby.”

He moved in a heartbeat, his knees damn near at his ears. I never understood how the man could be so flexible.

Not that I was complaining.

I appreciated and enjoyed every bit of his ability.

“I’m ready,” Tank grunted as I lined myself up.

Pressing in him felt like coming home. It was a warm, tight squeeze that damn near had me blowing my load before we even got started.

This was where I needed to be.

This was perfect.

This was mine.

“Fuck!”

He nodded frantically as I pulled back and pressed in even further. The slow strokes worked to seat me deeper inside him.

And then once I knew he’d fully adjusted, I took off.

I fucked him as if I hated him. Or maybe like he’d been gone for years, and we’d just been reunited. I fucked him until my spine burned with the need to come. Until my eyes watered as the love I felt for him so perfectly reflected back at me.

And even after that, I kept pushing through. I bit my lip to hold back just a little longer. I couldn’t come before him.

The second his cock throbbed, and his release sprayed over his chest, I lost it. My hips stuttered as I emptied into him.

It was the longest, hottest orgasm of my life.

“That was so worth the wait,” Tank sighed as he buried his face in my throat.

I rose up, my body having fallen on his when my energy ran out. He grabbed my shoulders to pull me back down.

“Like you here. Don’t leave yet.”

Chuckling, I ran my hand down his side. “You’re always so needy after getting fucked. Yet you’re never this way when you fuck me.”

I didn’t have to look to know he’d rolled his eyes. “Well, it’s kind of hard for me to keep it together when you give my prostate such good attention, pet. When I’m fucking you though, it’s like a shot of adrenaline. The two things are completely different. I’m just thankful you’re willing to switch things up with me.”

Kissing the side of his head, I pulled back enough to look him in the eye. “It’s no hardship. I enjoy both, and most of all, I enjoy time with you.”

His smile told me it had been the right thing to say.
