Waking Up Together

Theo

Her sexy, fit body was pressed against the wall. I touched the barely there sundress and pulled it up over her soft ivory thighs. Sure, I’d just met Jane, but I was drawn to her with an unmistakable intensity, and it was impossible to deny the universe’s message. I wanted to know every detail about her life, feel every curve of her body against mine. Our lips devoured one another; her hands were in my hair, grasping. I’d been nursing a raging boner since I first saw her holding that damn sign two hours ago. I moved my lips from her neck to her earlobe and sucked it gently into my mouth before I whispered, “Are you okay with this?”

“Yes, yes! God yes, please, Theo, now. I want this!” That was all I needed to hear. Frantically, I pulled down my gym shorts, damp with sweat from the performance. My hand slid up her inner thigh as I effortlessly brought the thin summer dress up to her waist for easy access. It was obvious she was ready for me. A groan slipped past my lips before I gently licked them and grinned deviously at her in anticipation.

“Shit,” I whispered as my eyes burst open from the almost wet dream. That could have been messy. Rudely awakened, I glanced to my left. My arm was numb. The beautiful source of the numbness lay in the crook of my armpit. The girl from my dream, the girl from last night. Jane. The sun shone through the curtains of the tour bus and hit her auburn hair, making it glow. The different shades of red-brown seemed more vibrant now than last night. I moaned, the sound representing something between satisfied and not. I gently bent my arm at the elbow and brushed the hair from her face so I could have a better view of her pretty face, her skin smooth and flawless. There was a slight dusting of freckles on the tops of her cheeks and across her nose. I hadn’t noticed them before; they were probably covered with a little makeup last night. I leaned over and kissed the top of her cheek gently—right on the freckles. She didn’t stir.

Under the covers, I had a little situation going on, but I would have to be patient. As I lay with Jane nestled next to my body, still in her thin flowy dress, I wondered how much longer until the divorce was final. I would call my lawyer later.

Jane’s breaths were hushed and sweet. A tiny groan escaped her lips, and I wondered if she was dreaming of what didn’t happen last night as well. Sorrow filled my thoughts for a moment, remembering how she lost a boyfriend only six months ago. So horrible. That had to be even worse than a divorce. I wondered what happened to him. Illness or accident or something else, but I wouldn’t ask out of respect. Eventually, I was sure she would tell me if we kept seeing each other. I didn’t know much about the girl next to me, but I did know she was making my heart flutter .

I breathed a sigh of relief. It had been a while since I felt this way. I knew I wanted to get to know Jane better and that she was hot as hell, in an innocent sort of way. She was funny, kind, and thoughtful.

Her reaction when I stopped in the heat of the moment yesterday caught me off guard in a pleasantly surprised sort of way. She accepted my words and reasoning and instead went with the flow of the night. She was content to just hang out. I had met some pretty spoiled and needy fan girls during my career. I couldn’t imagine every fan in that same situation would have reacted the way Jane did. But I had never been in that situation before.

I would let her sleep. What I really wanted to do with Jane would have to wait. As gently as possible, I slid my arm out from underneath her. She looked so peaceful and barely stirred as I freed myself. I grabbed my phone and quickly sent a message to my assistant, making sure breakfast would be waiting for Jane when she woke. I smiled at the thought of making this sweet fan happy. Looking forward to breakfast together, I walked to the bathroom and dropped my shorts.

Jane

The sound of water flowing in the shower woke me up. I yawned and opened my eyes. For one moment, I was confused before I remembered where I was. A smile touched my lips as I remembered last night in disbelief. I slept with Theo Beckham from Oxygen last night! Well, we didn’t actually sleep together, but we did sleep in the same bed. I was pretty sure I fell asleep in his warm muscular arms. It was crazy to think about. The need from last night still lingered, but it would have to wait to be satisfied, unfortunately. I snuggled back into the soft warm bed. It was surprisingly comfy considering it was in a tour bus. I looked around the luxury bus, which resembled a small, fancy hotel room with all the amenities. There was modern wood paneling surrounding the walls that looked like it hid storage space. Directly in front of the bed, Theo had a huge flat screen and there was even a small gas fireplace on the wall. I could see a walk-in closet on one side of the room, and I heard the shower stop in the full-size bathroom that was located on the other side. To my left, on my nightstand, there was a little tray with a coffee mug and a red rose in a vase. I sat up with a big stretch and reached for the coffee. I took a sip. The liquid wasn’t too hot. It was like it had been there for ten minutes waiting for me. “Thoughtful,” I murmured aloud. The coffee was black and strong, and the bitter taste jolted me awake. Of course it’s black. No room for sugar or cream in those abs of Theo’s. I wished I would have noticed the creamer and little packets of Stevia first. I bit my lip, and a warmth swept through my body that was not related to the temperature of the coffee. The image of Theo during last night’s concert, the after-party, and the quieter, more personal after-after-party entered my mind. My head had rested on his perfectly sculpted chest last night. Swoon. As if he heard my thoughts, on cue, Theo’s exquisite body exited the bathroom with only a white towel wrapped around his V-shaped waist. A deep breath was necessary, and heat rushed to my cheeks.

A large smile formed on his attractive face. “Oh, you’re awake. Good morning.” His voice sounded like a choir. It was like sunshine.

“Good morning,” I managed to whisper as he disappeared into the walk-in closet. Automatically, my face fell as he vanished around the corner. But then he was back wearing shorts and a tank top. My smile returned. Perfection.

“Hungry?” he asked. “I’m starving,” he said, answering his own question while casually strolling to me. He leaned his large frame down and gently kissed me on the forehead. “Thanks again for being so understanding last night. I really needed that.” He considered his next words. “A friend.” He was being so hard on himself. There must be so much pressure to perform when you’re famous.

“You’re welcome. I had a really nice time, too,” I said, I stood following him to the front of the bus. On the table was a spread of healthy breakfast items.

“There is an awesome smoothie in the fridge.” He reached in and grabbed the premade drink. We grabbed smoothies, and Theo took two boiled eggs and some oatmeal for himself. We stepped outside. The cool morning air gave me chills. There were two lawn chairs strategically placed for privacy—and an amazing view of the sunrise. We chatted quietly as we ate and enjoyed the landscape as the sun rose over the mountains and warmed my goose bumped skin.

“I thought we talked about everything last night,” Theo mused, “but I realized I don’t know what you do for work.”

“Oh, yeah, I’m a real estate agent, and sometimes, when I have extra time and money, I flip houses on the side.”

“Interesting.” He looked at me curiously. “I have this little house in LA that could use some fixing up,” he said. “I bought it with money from our first album. It was in bad shape, but it was all I could afford at the time. The tiny house’s only saving grace is its location overlooking the ocean. I’ll show it to you sometime. I don’t spend much time there. The tour and all.”

“It sounds amazing,” I agreed, but I had to wonder if it would ever manifest. “Fixing up a beach house would be a dream come true,” I thought out loud. Theo gave his adorable smile in response to my words.

“Well then, it’s a plan.” He reached his hand out, and we shook on it. A few minutes passed in comfortable silence. “I hope you like yoga.”

“I do like yoga.” I looked at him inquisitively. Oh my gosh if I get to see him up close and personal doing yoga, I’m going to lose it , I thought.

“Yeah, I make all the fan girls do yoga with me. It’s a prerequisite.” His eyes blazed into mine. I frowned and gave him the evil eye, suspicious. He held a straight face for a minute, then winked at me, busting up laughing.

“Nothing like a private yoga lesson at Red Rocks with a rock star,” I said. “Seize the day.”

Theo glanced at my wrinkly sundress. “That dress might not work for yoga. Downward dog in that might cause a problem for me,” he confessed.

I looked down at my clothes. “You aren’t wrong.” I scrunched my face at the unfortunate realization. I was really looking forward to some yoga with Theo.

“Um, let me call my assistant, Kathy, and see if she has a pair of shorts or leggings you can borrow. She’s just in one of the other motorhomes.”

I ended up borrowing a pair of Kathy’s leggings and one of Theo’s white tank tops. I tied it into a knot so it wasn’t too baggy. Theo simply wore black workout shorts. It was just Theo’s personal trainer, Theo, and me in the serene foothills on the outskirts of Denver. It was hard to concentrate with his muscular upper body shouting in my face the whole hour, but somehow, I managed to get through the set.

Lying on a yoga mat in the open air with my legs spread and arms out in Savasana pose was extremely sensual. Theo’s tank top had hiked up, and my bare stomach felt a slight breeze. The calm atmosphere made my body super sensitive. I tried to ignore the sensations going off in my body and snuck a peak at Theo. He was looking back at me. Our eyes met, and he gave me a shy grin. He seemed under just as much duress as me. We were fighting our natural instincts as adults who were attracted to one another.

After yoga, we walked back to the bus hand in hand. I couldn’t help but notice the huge grin on his face. “That was nice.”

“Yes, it was.” I squeezed his hand.

“Monday, we’re driving to our next show in Nebraska,” he stated cautiously. We both seemed a bit bummed. I nodded my head in understanding, not wanting to get my hopes up. “You want to take a quick shower before you go?” he asked.

I couldn’t help but look at him, questioning. “Oh, sorry. Just you.” He gulped, and I chuckle at his awkwardness. He rolled his eyes. “I often wonder how I made Rolling Stone’s Sexiest Rock Stars list. I seriously have no game right now.” He shrugged his shoulder, and I giggled. “See, I’m not supposed to make women giggle. I’m supposed to make them scream my name in ecstasy.” His sexy grin made my stomach twitter.

“You must be doing something right.” I bit my lip with a shy smile and glanced at his beautiful blue eyes for a quick moment—which is all I could handle before I melted into a puddle of goo.

In the large bathroom, I put my sundress back on. After I showered, Theo sat at his computer with headphones on, probably writing heart-pounding music. I stood over Theo’s shoulder, watching him work. “Can I listen?”

“Sure,” he said. He gave me a little beatbox of what he was working on. “I’m just starting this one. I need the guys to tell me what they think.”

I gulped. Hearing him sing new music just for me was enough to drive me wild. “I like it” was all I could manage. Then I heard the Uber driver pull up.

As we walked out, he asked, “Can I get your number?”

“Of course.” He watched me intensely as he handed over his phone and I typed in my number.

“This isn’t a fake, is it?” His eyebrows raised with his question.

“I guess you’ll just have to call it and find out.” I pursed my lips together at how cute he was. How was this handsome, talented man wondering if I’d given him the wrong number? It made no sense.

As I handed his phone back, Theo grabbed my hand and pulled me into him, giving me the most virtuous kiss. “I had an amazing time, Jane. Seriously. Thanks for understanding about last night.”

“Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret.” I gave him a sweet hug back before I climbed into the car. He gave the Uber driver the goodbye signal.

As I sat in the back seat on the drive home, I didn’t want to get my hopes up and expect Theo to call. Something like this was so special and rare. I just needed to be grateful for the small amount of time I did get to spend with the lead singer of Oxygen. Thinking I would never see my rock star again, I became determined to live in the moment and be happy for that one incredible night. I would remember it forever.
