Chapter 18

Chapter

Eighteen

Adira

“Every day. Same time,” the doctor repeats for probably the fifth time.

“I got it, I got it,” I mutter, reaching out to take the two bottles.

She levels me with a look that makes me squirm. Oh shit, is she an alpha?

“I am serious, Adira. An unbound omega is like a sprinkled-covered cupcake, and alphas are like hungry kindergarteners with very little self-control. The ones you encountered during your heat,” she grimaces, for she had been super unimpressed with that part of my story, “Were bound by Alpha Code, decreed by the Council. But run across a headstrong alpha outside of your heat, with you smelling like a delectable little cupcake, and you might end up bound.”

I swallow. “Got it,” I say as contritely as I can. I shoot her a look though, “So when are you shifters going to tell witches about this?”

She makes a sound like a grunt and I wonder for a moment what kind of shifter she is. “I don’t know. I don’t have any pull in those decisions, but I’ll make sure that topic is raised again.” Her eyes dance back to me. “But you can’t go around talking about this, that’s for certain.”

I nod sullenly, and she purses her lips but hands over the heat suppressants and scent dampeners.
