Chapter 10 Reality Check

Making direct eye contact with Luca caused my cheeks to heat up immensely and all that I could do was stare directly at the ground right before I witnessed the two glaring at each other.

"What are you doing here,Luca?"Antonio snarled, and Luca continued to give him a piercing glare.

Personally I didn't know how to feel about him showing up.

I knew it had to be something important but I just wish he didn't see us in the position we were in.

"I'm here for Venus not that its any of your concern."He hissed, and I could tell Antonio wanted to punch him based on his balled up fist.

"Yes it is my concern because I'm her husband....."He trailed off for a little before he looked Luca directly in the eye."Besides they could have sent somebody else."He gave him a mock smile and Luca was getting more and more frustrated by the minute.

He stared directly into my eyes, ignoring Antonio's rage and his figure softened,"My parents claim it was to dangerous to send anyone else."I shook my head in understanding."Your father Alastair is suffering from brain cancer. He only has a couple months to live and he wants your family lawyer to discuss the will while he's alive. He claims its important for you to be there."

Hearing all that at once made my head spin and without noticing I slightly lost balance which Luca helped me regain quite quickly.

"Are you ok, bellissima (beautiful)?" Luca asked, holding me up, while remaining eye contact with me.

"Yeah."I replied, pulling from his grip gently."Where is he?"

He averted his gaze,"In the hospital."He murmured.

I wanted to cry so badly but I was forcing myself to be strong because my father would want it that way.I knew he would.

"I wanna go see him."

The last time I remember walking through the bland walls of this same hospital was at the age of nine when my mother died of a car accident.

They informed us that within ten minutes of reaching the hospital they declared her brain dead because there was no activity occurring in her brain despite the fact she had collapsed lungs and her artery's were failing by the minute. That was the first and the last time my father cried, and that was truly the last time he stopped following his heart.

Day by day his heart became stone and even when that was occurring he tried to be the mother and the father for us.Thats why I would never be upset with him no matter how many times he yelled at me because he will remain the father that I love.

The lawyer tapped my shoulder stealing me from my deep train of thoughts.

"Ma'am your fathers room is from here."He pointed the first room on the floor and then after a little observing I noticed that there weren't any other patients on the floor. There were only eight of our men guarding the floor and maybe two nurses to the most.

I entered the room to find my dad laying on the bed peacefully but his eyes were open of course.Typical, he never ever liked to be in bed because he was ill and I do admit I get that from him.

"μπαμπ?? ε?σαι εντ?ξει;( Dad are you okay?)" I asked, sitting beside him.

He rolled his eyes,"φυσικ? (Of course) I'm okay Venus."He chuckled, to lighten the mood and it was my turn to roll my eyes.

"μπαμπ??( Dad) you know your not."I trailed off for a bit..."Why didn't you tell me hmmm?"

"Because I knew you were going to do this Venus.I'm flattered that you are the only one concerned for me but you would have made me stay in bed all day, every day."He was exaggerating but yes I would have made him stay at home for the most part.

"I didn't bring you here to discuss my dreadful sickness.I brought you here to discuss what belongs to you."He said, rubbing my hand and I couldn't help but feel annoyed.

The door swung open and Christopher came into view with his dirty blonde hair all raggedy and jeans with holes in them.

"After careful consideration I have decided to give Venus the CEO position of Angelopolis Enterprises and of course this means you are the tribes next leader. That is of course if you provide an heir or heiress within the next two years."He declared and I felt as if the whole weight of the world was on top of my back.

I never in my life would have thought I would take this position especially since Chris was older then me.

Chis snorted,"You can't do that! She's still in her first year of college, not to mention she is a women and I am older by eight years."

I could see my father's figure tense up."This is exactly the reason why the position isn't yours. You are irresponsible, sexist and careless. Our tribe would suffer with a leader of your kind Christopher."Chris looked genuinely hurt and his gaze was overpowered with rage.

"Dad maybe he's right ummm I don't think I can do this myself."I stuttered and my Dad shook his head.

"Nonsense, I I still have a couple more months to live within them you shall be ready and I know when it comes time you will not act on your heart but act on what is truly right.I've seen that in you Venus multiple times and when you married Antonio for your brothers sake and for our tribe's sake you proved to me you can be a leader."

"This is clearly a bunch of bull shit."Chris yelled, storming out of the room.

"Mrs.Angelopolis we need you to sign here."Our family lawyer Mr.Right said, handing me the pen and I took it, placing my signature on the last line.

After I that my head began to hurt badly and suddenly I was so light headed I lost complete control of my balance.

"Venus!"
