Peacock on Parade One Year Later

Tara could hardly believe that it had been an entire year since she'd first come to Ireland, or that today was the last time she would be traveling back and forth from one continent to another. The Starbucks in the airport was a familiar friend by now, but best of all was the man waiting for her on the other side of the arrivals gate. "Declan!"

He leaned across the gate to steal a kiss, smiling as hard as Tara was. "Welcome to Ireland. For real and forever, this time. C'mere to me, let me get that for you." He took her luggage effortlessly, and they made their way through the airport chattering about all the important things they'd missed out on since they last spoke, seven hours earlier as Tara was boarding the flight. Mostly, of course, that was the quality of the airplane food and whether she'd gotten any sleep on the plane, but it didn't matter: being there with Declan, talking about things that weren't important, was the best feeling Tara had ever had.
