Chapter 33

Nash

I sit at the edge of my couch, my heart pounding against my ribs like a war drum, while Leo lounges beside me, tension crackling in the air between us.

The sunlight streams through the window, illuminating the dust particles swirling around us, yet all I can think about is the weight of the moment we’re about to step into.

Today isn’t just any other day—today, we’re going to address the darkness hovering over us, turning it into light.

As I steal a glance at Leo, I see the nervous flicker in his brown eyes and the way he fidgets with the hem of his T-shirt.

I can’t blame him—this whole thing feels monumental, a game-changer that could either liberate us or unravel everything we’ve built.

I reach out, placing my hand over his, the warmth of our skin creating an immediate connection that soothes some of the tension twisting inside me.

“Hey,” I say, my voice steady despite the apprehension swirling in my gut. “We’re doing this together, remember?”

He gives me a small, tight smile, though the worry lines etched on his forehead tell another story. “I know. It’s just… what if things don’t go as planned?”

Before I can respond, Talia arrives, her presence filling the room with a burst of energy that pulls us out of our anxious spirals for a moment. “Hey, you two!” she greets us, her voice bright and reassuring. “Ready to make some magic?”

As she moves about the room, setting up her camera and adjusting the lighting, I watch Leo’s expression soften just a little. Something is grounding about having her here, and I can feel the comfort of familiarity wash over us.

“Are you guys okay?” she asks, glancing between us with a perceptive look that makes me wonder if our nervousness is that palpable.

“Just feeling the weight of it all,” Leo admits, letting out a shaky laugh. “You know, no big deal.”

I shake my head lightly, a smile breaking through the tension. “Just a little scary is all.”

“Well, don’t worry. I’ll make sure this gets out in the best way possible,” she assures us, focusing the camera on us. “We’re going to turn this around, and you’re both going to do great.”

As she sets up, I steal a moment to breathe deeply, finding solace in the familiarity of my surroundings. But just as quickly, the anxiety returns, pressing against my chest, wrapping around me tightly. What if the blackmailers find out about this? What if the world isn’t ready for our truth?

“Leo,” I say, leaning closer, my voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, “you still with me?”

“Always,” he replies, his expression softening, and in this shared moment of vulnerability, I can see a flicker of the resolve that I admire so much in him.

After Talia completes her preparations, she steps forward to stand in front of us, the camera aimed at us. “Okay, remember, keep it casual. Speak from the heart,” she instructs, and I can feel my pulse quicken.

I nod, trying to gather my thoughts. “Right. Casual.”

But as we sit side by side, the weight of the moment settles back in, and I can’t help but squeeze Leo’s hand again. “Just remember—this is our story,” I remind him. “We control the narrative now.”

“Yeah, our story,” Leo agrees, his resolve seeming to strengthen as he takes a deep breath. “Let’s show everyone who we really are.”

“Exactly,” I say, feeling a swell of determination rise within me, and with that, I prepare to speak, channeling everything into the words I’m about to share.

Talia begins the recording, the camera's red light casting a warm glow over us. I glance at Leo, and we exchange a nod, a shared understanding that in this moment, everything else fades away—we're stepping into the light, side by side.

“Hello everyone,” I say, the weight of the moment echoing in my voice. “We are Nash and Leo, and today, we want to talk about something important.”

As I speak, I can feel my heart steady, the rawness of my emotions beginning to intertwine with the strength of our connection. There’s a sense of liberation in sharing our truth, and in that moment, it feels like nothing could extinguish the light we’re bringing into the world.

Whatever challenges lie ahead, I know we are ready to face them together. Together, we’ll shine through the shadows, weaving our story into the fabric of acceptance and love. Today marks the beginning of that journey, and there’s no turning back now.
