Chapter 18

OCEAN

I shoved my key into the door of my penthouse, my mind going a mile a minute.

I had no intention of leaving Skye at the condo, but after getting a text from Melina saying that there was a leak, I didn’t have a choice.

There was no way I was going to allow Skye to see another bitch at one of my cribs.

That wouldn’t end well.

Shit, I definitely gotta get that key back.

Before I could turn the knob, the door opened, and Melina stood in the doorway wearing a bright red lingerie set.

“What took you so long?” she asked.

“None of your business. Where’s the leak?” I slid past her, making sure our bodies didn’t touch in any way.

“Right here.”

Rolling up my sleeves, I spun around, ready to handle the problem.

But I didn’t see shit. Well, nothing other than Melina licking her lips as she cupped her pussy.

I frowned. “Yo, where is the fucking leak? I’ve got other shit to do.”

“Like I said before...right here.” She lowered her gaze, then looked back up at me to make sure I’d finally realized what she was referring to.

Pissed, I took in a deep breath, then blew it out slowly. “Please tell me you didn’t call me over here for some dick.”

“Uh, yeah. I thought that was obvious.”

My shoulders dropped.

When Melina sent me that text, my mind was elsewhere. I was still on a high from being with Skye.

“Why aren’t you at the club?” I asked. “There are still things that need to be handled today?”

“Yes, there is, but I wanted to see you.”

She moved closer, then leaned in to kiss me.

I stepped back. “Chill. I’m not with all that today. You should be at the club overseeing shit. That’s your job now.”

“Relax. I’ll get back to that as soon as we’re done here.”

“No, you’ll get back to that shit right now.”

Her head shot back, her eyes laced with confusion and anger. “Ocean, what the hell is going on? I thought the agreement was—”

“Yeah, I know what you thought, but there’s things that need to be looked after. That can’t be done if you’re here trying to get your pussy stroked when you’re supposed to be at the club.”

“I get that, but—”

“No, buts. Go put some fucking clothes on and do what the hell I pay you to do.”

Her mouth fell open.

I was seconds away from telling her to close that shit, but then I realized I needed to reel it back in.

Fuck.

Skye’s pussy had made me forget the plan.

“Look,” I said, placing my hand against Melina’s cheek. “I’m not trying to be an asshole. I’m just trying to make sure things go smoothly. I don’t want any hiccups, and I know as long as you stay focused, there won’t be.”

A smile spread across her face. “You really have that much faith in me?”

“Of course I do. I wouldn’t have promoted you if I didn’t. But with that being said, how about you hold off on these little penthouse calls until after the reopening.”

She sighed. “But—”

I dipped my hand under her chin, lifting her head just enough to make her think my lips were going to touch hers.

Not a chance in hell.

“Show me that I did right by choosing you for the job. I promise there’s a bigger reward in store for you.”

“Really?” she nibbled on her bottom lip.

“Yep. I just want to see if you can handle things like I think you can.”

Like I’d just handed her access to my bank account, her smile widened, followed by a satisfied sigh. “Okay, I can do it. No more penthouse calls.”

“Good.”

She yanked me forward and pressed her lips against mine, kissing me so hard, I thought I was going to suffocate.

The repulsion that consumed me was like nothing I’d ever felt before. I almost knocked her on her ass, but for the sake of what was going on, I kept it cool.

“When this is all said and done, I expect you to fuck me in every room,” she whispered before grabbing my hand and slipping it between her legs.

Her pussy was soaking wet, and temptation almost brought me to the point of slipping a finger in. But I talked myself out of it and gave her a playful pat. “I got you.”

“You better.”

The look in her eyes was intense, but I looked away before she could see how disgusted I really was.

“Get back to the club,” I told her before strolling out of the penthouse.

My head dropped as soon as I made it inside the elevator.

The guilt I felt was overwhelming.

If Skye found out that I’d ditched her to meet up with Melina, our shit would be over before it even started.

Maybe I should just tell her what’s going on.

She’d already proven that she understood me.

The elevator doors opened.

I was barely in the lobby when I heard Shade’s voice. “What’s up, big bro? What you doing here? Skye up there?”

“What? No,” I said, appalled that he would even think that.

“Damn, don’t look so fucked up in the face. I know you only come here when you’re fucking, so—”

“Yeah, well, not today, and I would never bring Skye here.”

His hands shot up. “Okay, my bad. I forgot y’all don’t get down like that anymore.”

“She’s never been here.”

“Wait, what? Like, not even when y’all first started—”

“Nah,” I said, walking toward the exit.

“So, you’re telling me that she’s always been at your crib?”

“Yes.”

Shade pressed his fist against his mouth. “Woah, that’s crazy. Damn, you’re feeling her feeling her, huh?”

I stopped. “Yo, shouldn’t your ass be somewhere picking out baby names or some shit?”

He smirked. “Damn, you’re deflecting hard as hell. But it’s cool. I already know what’s up.”

“Yeah, okay.” I looked away, knowing damn well I wasn’t good at hiding the truth. “What you even doing at your crib? I thought Nyx had you hemmed up at her place these days.”

He flipped me off. “Man, whatever. She left a big ass box of that cinnamon cereal shit here, so I stopped by to grab it. It’s the only thing she can keep down right now.”

“Why didn’t you just send your assistant to get it?”

“Because I’m trying to be on my shit.”

I laughed, my arms folding over my chest. “I see you. You’re excited, huh?”

“Hell yeah. I mean, I didn’t expect to become a father anytime soon, but now that it’s here, I’m with it.”

“That’s what’s up. Are you guys going to tell people?”

“Not yet. We want to make sure things are good first. She has an appointment coming up. After that, we’ll tell the rest of the family. Still not sure about releasing anything to the public though. I don’t want Nyx to be stressed, and you know it’s going to get crazy once the world finds out.”

“Yeah. It’s going to get wild.”

“Hell yeah.”

“But what about your music? And her dancing? How is all that going to go?”

“As far as I’m concerned, all that shit is on hold until further notice. We just came off tour, my music is still charting...I’m good.”

“And Nyx? Didn’t she have some appearances she was supposed to be doing?”

“Yeah, but she had to cancel. She’s been too sick.”

“Oh okay.”

“We ain’t worried about none of that shit though. Everything will work itself out.”

“I hear you,” I said, before leaning in for the one-shoulder hug. “I gotta head out. I’ll catch up with you later.”

“Alright. When you get back to the crib and get all snuggled up with Skye, tell her I said what’s up.”

“Yeah, yeah,” I said before flipping him off and walking out of the building.
