Fabulous & Flawed
(A sneak peek)
A bottle of bubbly tucked in her tote bag, Sylvie Santiago all but skipped across the parking lot and up the stairs to her apartment. She paused on a step to do a little happy dance.
The bank had approved her mortgage application and her dream of being a homeowner was close to becoming a reality.
Not just a homeowner, either. The property she had her eye on was a duplex that had seen better days.
She would live in one side while fixing it up, rent it out, then move into the other side and fix it up.
The blare of music from another apartment barely registered. She was busy deciding on paint colors. Yellow was her favorite, but should she go with something safer? She’d ask Dean. Sanchez Homes was his family’s business. He’d know what colors brought in homebuyers.
Sylvie did a clumsy pirouette as she rounded the corner to her front door, then righted herself. The obnoxious EDM was coming from her apartment.
Digging out her keys, she quickened her pace. It was three o’clock in the afternoon. Dean shouldn’t be home yet. And he sure as hell shouldn’t be playing music that loud.
She pushed the door open, ready to scold her boyfriend but the words didn’t come out. Takeout containers and empty bottles littered the coffee table and clothes were strewn all over the floor. The bare backside of a busty blonde bobbed up and down on Dean’s spread, naked, hairy thighs.
Sylvie shrieked.
The blonde froze.
Dean poked his head around the woman. “Oh. You’re home early.”
“Apparently so.” Sylvie stomped to the speakers and turned them off. Shock, betrayal, and anger warred inside her. She chose to go with anger. “What the hell, Dean?”
