Chapter 4

Cyn

It’s crazy what a nice body can do for you.

I’m convinced the only reason that security guard gave Ari this cabana with enough bottles to get all of us drunk was because she looked damn good in that swimsuit.

The only thing we didn’t have enough of was mixers, and that was because Tania got drunk too fast and knocked over both the cranberry and lemonade carafes while twerking to “Get It Sexy” by Sexy Red.

From up here, the vibes were immaculate.

The cabana sat a few feet above the pool deck, but not high enough to be private, but elevated enough that it felt like we were watching the whole party from a VIP window. The sun bounced off bodies, drinks clinked, people laughed, and heat wrapped around us like a blanket.

But none of that stopped the ache still pulsing between my legs from last night.

The soreness was a reminder I didn’t ask for, but those flashbacks? They were dragging me so bad that I couldn’t really focus on anything else.

I could still hear his voice in my ear.

“Open your mouth for me.”

“Don’t run now.”

“Keep your eyes open.”

What I did last night was supposed to be business, but why couldn’t I get it off of my mind. I needed another shot to try and help that feeling go away, but I was not taking another one without a chaser. I am a weak link, and the burn of Patron was a little too much for me.

“I’ll be back, y’all. I’m going to get us some more mixers.

The waitress hasn’t been back in like thirty minutes, and I’m done waiting.

” I complained about the subpar service we were receiving.

Something was telling me that she knew this cabana was free and was treating us like some bums because of it.

“I think she’s hating on us.” Tania yelled back in my ear.

Tania was the one friend who, if we had a fight in the club, she probably started it.

To her, everyone was hating and anyone that disagreed with her was just wrong.

Her being a Scorpio gave her traits that I wouldn’t put up with if I didn’t love her, and she wasn’t a good time.

She did have good sides to her and was as loyal as a fucking horse, but as I said, she was a handful.

“You coming with us to get mixers?” I asked Ari, who was swaying her hips to the music while texting on her phone.

It was probably Josiah stirring up some shit as usual.

He acts crazy with her any time we go out, so I didn’t expect anything different this weekend.

All I want for Christmas is for Ari’s future husband to grow up and for me to get one, for that matter.

“No, I’m going to stay here because I don’t need that crazy man giving away our section.”

“True!” We both agreed.

“We will be back.”

“K.”

She replied, and we left the section. We stumbled through the crowd of people who’d made it in since we’ve been here while holding hands with one another until we were up at the bar and yelling for the bartender to hear us.

“What can I get you ladies?”

“I need a craft of cranberry juice, and one with lemonade.”

“Just a craft? No liquor?”

“No, we have a section.” I pointed towards the cabana area.” She nodded her head and then left us standing there waiting, and Tania was dancing like we were on the dancefloor before I heard her sucking her teeth damn near over the music.

“Owee, bitch. Who is that! Is he a fucking rapper or something?”

Her tone alone had me turning around, and the second I did, my whole body froze like I was surrounded by ice.

It was him. The man who had been on my mind since last night.

“His ass is fine as hell, and he knows it too. Look how he walks like his dick is big,” Tania said, fanning herself as I suddenly got hot too.

He was walking into the pool area with a huge chain, glistening in the daylight.

He wasn’t alone, and a big security guard walked beside him, and the two of them scanned the party like they were checking what belonged to them.

His shirt was hanging open like he didn’t even bother with the buttons, and his body was doing all the talking for him. His abs sat tight and stacked, cut up like God chiseled them with a box cutter, and that smooth brown skin underneath made the chain he was wearing take a back seat.

“Ma’am.”

The bartender tapped the counter, snapping me out of my trance.

She slid the two carafes toward me.

“Your total is $50.”

“Damn, $50 for some juice y’all poured from a carton?” Tania complained, finally taking her eyes off the man.

“It’s okay, girl. I got it. It’s no problem.”

“Okay, big money.” Tania joked as I pulled out my card. Another bartender walked up beside the one helping us, tapped her elbow, and nodded her chin toward the cabana area.

“Boss man at five o’clock. Make sure you're moving a little faster,” She attempted to warn her on the sly, but I had no problem reading her lips.

Now, the money, the chain, and the hotel room we stayed in last night made sense, along with the huge payday for me.

This nigga was rich and referred to as bossman at a rooftop pool party.

Now that is something to brag about instead of these nothing ass niggas I’ve met in the past. I know that telling Tania would be just like getting over the speaker and yelling it over the party, so I knew I needed to shut my mouth.

The only people that could ever know that I fucked his fine ass was me, and Nina because even he couldn’t.

I didn’t have my card on me to pay, so I tried paying with Apple Pay, but every time I tapped my phone on the reader, an error came back.

“Shit, shit, it’s froze.” The bartender seemed like she was in a panic, trying to get it to work.

“Yo, Carr, it’s froze.” She got the attention of the bartender, who’d warned her about boss man coming.

The girl came over trying to help in a hurry, and I watched as they struggled until a certain scent of cologne drifted up my nose that I had smelled all night under the pressure of a sexy ass thug who made me cum five times.

“Carr, why the fuck is this line not moving?”

His voice damn near busted my eardrums because it was so deep. I tried not to look at him, but Tania was behind me, pinching the hell out of my elbow because he was so close to us.

“The card reader is frozen, boss, but we're working on getting it back running.”

“Why the fuck are the systems freezing so much? Did the tech nigga not come look at them two days ago?”

“He was supposed to come, but he rescheduled to Monday. Said that he had to fly to Dubai to work on something with another client.”

“And you just let him tell you that shit and go on about his day? We have a party full of people waiting to be served, and we can’t even take the cash from them because of some janky ass card readers. Fix this shit ASAP, or you are going to be serving drinks on Fremont Street.”

I never looked towards him, but the way the bartender was looking, I could see that they were all terrified of him. When I felt him looking towards me, I still didn’t make eye contact because that would probably make me visibly weak again.

“Just take the carafes, they on me.”

“Thank you!” Tania spoke up before I even looked at him, and she stuck her hand out to shake his.”

“I don’t shake hands.”

“Understandable. Can I get your name if you don’t mind?”

“Hawk.”

“Hawk, like the Atlanta Hawks?”

“No, Hawk, like cold. Freezing.” He looked away from her and back over the bar.

“Oh, fitting.” She let him brushing her off roll off her back.

When we turned to leave, he turned around, doing a quick double take towards me. I, however, kept my head straight and walked away from him, remembering that he was supposed to be far away from me now. I wasn’t risking the money I made by entertaining a man that I was legit paid to stay away from.

Unfortunately, that one night has to stand.
