Chapter 14 Westbound
This stalemate between us lasted for quite a while.
I couldn't figure out what Chu Qingyun was thinking.
If it were anyone else making me this uncomfortable, I would have kicked them out long ago.
But when it came to Chu Qingyun, even if I felt awful, I couldn't bear to actually end things with him.
I went to the company and got lectured by the old man for an entire day about how I skipped school and neglected the company.
I was extremely irritated and just wanted to go home to see Chu Qingyun. But when I got back, he wasn't there again.
When I first bought this apartment, I thought 220 square meters was a bit small.
Now that Chu Qingyun wasn't home, the place felt empty and cold. I suddenly felt that buying such a large useless apartment was pure torture.
I called Chu Qingyun in a bad mood. His gentle voice came through the line. "Hello?"
"Where are you again? You're never home. Are you busier than me now?" In truth, aside from his fixed hospital visits and daytime classes, Chu Qingyun was usually at home.
I was clearly picking a fight by saying this.
He paused before answering, "What's wrong with you again?"
My temper flared up again. "What do you mean 'again'? You think I'm being unreasonable?"
"I told you today. I went back to my own house to get my mom's medical insurance card and passbook."
I thought about it. It seemed like he really had mentioned it.
I gave a vague "Oh" and didn't know what else to say. But I didn't want to hang up. Just listening to his breathing made me feel a little better.
But then he said, "The house hasn't been lived in for a long time. It's a bit dirty. I'll clean up first. Hanging up now."
"Whatever."
And he really hung up.
Calling back now would make me look pathetic, even though I really wanted to talk to Chu Qingyun.
I tossed and turned in bed until midnight without falling asleep.
I called Chu Qingyun again. "Switch to video."
The call connected. His handsome face appeared on the screen, looking especially good.
"What's wrong?"
I was too embarrassed to say I missed him, even though I used to say it all the time.
"Checking on you. Making sure you're not cheating on me."
He smiled helplessly and turned the camera to show the entire room. "No one hidden."
I snorted. "Good. You're mine."
"Mm." He was about to say something else when a loud banging suddenly came from the door. A rough male voice shouted, "Open the door! Pay up!"
The video call was abruptly cut off.
"Chu Qingyun!!"
I called back, but no one picked up.
My heart sank. I immediately jumped out of bed and called my bodyguards. "Come with me to Xikang."
