Chapter 15 Back to the Way We Were

Chu Qingyun and I finally returned to the kind of hot and sweet days we had before.

The difference was that he indulged me even more now.

If I said I wanted to lie in bed and have him feed me, he would really bring the bowl over and feed me spoon by spoon.

I had someone custom-make a bracelet for me.

I put it on Chu Qingyun. "Here. If you're ever in danger, just press it. It will send your location to me immediately."

"Keep it on. Don't take it off."

Chu Qingyun's eyes shimmered as he looked at me quietly. "Forever?"

"Yeah. It's waterproof. You don't need to take it off when you shower either."

Chu Qingyun smiled. He looked genuinely happy for a moment, but the joy was brief. Soon his expression turned lonely again.

I didn't notice his change in expression. I was looking at the strong wind outside, feeling a little worried.

"Don't take the subway when you go to the Hospital. It's cold in winter. I don't want you to catch a cold. I'll give you a car."

He shook his head. "Your cars are all too expensive. I'm afraid I'll scratch them."

I pulled him over and kissed him. "I don't care if the car gets scratched. I do care if you get cold."

His face flushed. He pushed me away and said I was being too clingy.

But in the end, he didn't refuse me again.

I had gone with him to the Hospital once. His mother lay in the bed, completely unconscious.

Chu Qingyun sat beside her, his eyes full of sadness and loss.

I knew he was waiting for his mother to wake up, even though the chances were slim.

But she was his only remaining family. That father of his wasn't even as good as shit.

I gently touched the reflection of Chu Qingyun's side profile on the glass and, for the first time, sincerely hoped someone would stay alive.

After all, he only stayed with me for his mother's sake.

If his mother was gone, would he still stay with me?

Did Chu Qingyun like me?

From the few times I had tested him, even though I didn't want to admit it, it seemed he didn't like me that much.
