37. Chapter 37
Cameron
After Mason’s day today, she deserved a date. That’s why I didn’t argue when Seb suggested staying out a little later, especially because stargazing was something I was prepared for.
I always kept a blanket or two in the back of my truck. It was always better to be prepared, even if it was overly so.
Once the bed of my truck was covered, Sebastian helped Mason up, and I poked fun at him for spoiling her. Not like I’d have done any different. Something about her screamed to be spoiled within an inch of being rotten. That being said, I wasn’t sure Mason could be rotten if she wanted to.
She was just too gentle, too sweet. She’d held a lot on her shoulders for too damn long, and between Seb and I, I was sure she’d never be forced to do heavy lifting ever again.
Once we all got settled, Mason laid between Seb and I. And I was glad. Part of me feared that if she hadn’t, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from doing something that’d possibly turn the tides of mine and Sebastian’s relationship forever .
She leaned up against the back of my truck with a blanket on her lap and her plastic container of chips perched precariously on her belly. As her gaze pinned on the sky, her eyes served as a mirror for its brilliance.
The darker one matched the sky, and the lighter one the moon. Slowly, she picked up a chip, and extra cheese dripped back into a container before she popped it between her lips. She chewed thoughtfully, and Sebastian watched her as if she was the only thing to ever exist.
She deserved someone who loved her like that. But, as I watched him, I worried that he’d catch me staring. So, instead of making this awkward, I cleared my throat and rooted through the plastic bag beside me.
“Seb, heads up.”
He lifted his gaze just in time for the pack of candy I tossed hit him on the forehead. Sebastian’s husky eyes lowered into a glare, and I mumbled out an apology. Mason giggled at us, but the joy didn’t dull the edge of Seb’s anger.
“Cameron, what is this?” Irritation crept into his words as he picked up the package, examining it as if it had fallen from space.
The bag rustled as I rooted through it, retrieving a pack of peanut butter cups.
“A snack,” I explained, shaking them in his direction. “Mae and I both got something. I’d feel bad if I left you out.”
Seb had weird eating habits, but I wasn’t going to push anything on him.
So, instead of getting him something that I thought sounded good, I found a healthier version of gummy fish.
They were dye-free, sugar-free, and vegan.
That meant I had absolutely no idea what was in them, but they seemed good enough.
His gaze narrowed on the package as he awkwardly held it like he wasn’t sure what to do next. But, after a moment, the tension in his shoulders dropped, and I swore I saw him blush.
“Thank you, Cameron… that was rather considerate.”
I nodded. “No problem.”
This was the point where a normal person would open the packet, but he placed it off to the side, instead electing to get comfortable and focus on the sky. I did the same as I leaned back and opened my peanut butter cups .
The night was almost completely clear, and the stars dotting the sky shone like diamonds, lighting the night. Sebastian and I didn’t talk, but between crunching on her chips, Mason would point out some constellation and tell us all about it.
She told stories of prideful queens and gifts to gods. All of it was said with so much confidence that it felt right, but I wondered how she remembered all of it.
She inched a little closer to me with a small shiver, and I wrapped my arm around her. But, as my arm draped over her shoulders, Sebastian had a similar idea.
His hand brushed mine, and an undeniable spark rocketed through me. Our eyes met for just long enough for me to feel the weight of that connection. I pulled my hand back, but the warmth of his skin lingered .
Mason seemed to be completely oblivious to the tension as she continued her stargazing.
“That’s one you should know–It’s the Big Dipper,” she explained, pointing at the stars that all seemed to look the same. Her finger trailed off to the side, and I followed it. “And right there’s the North Star.”
“I see it,” I lied.
But my little fib earned a smile from Mason, and that made it worth it.
As the night wore on, the air grew colder. Despite being nestled into the crook of Sebastian’s brawny arm, once again Mason shivered. For a moment, I debated cutting the night short and forcing her to go home. But, instead, something came over me.
Before I could think better of it, I inched closer to the two, wrapping my arm around them before putting my palm on Seb’s hip.
He looked up at me like I was a ghost. His eyes remained wide and his jaw tense as he refused to look away from me, and I did the same. I probably took whatever we were way too far, and he was uncomfortable.
At least, that was what I thought until our little staring contest ended.
The second he looked away, he buried his face into Mason’s neck.
I couldn’t see what exactly he did, but whatever it was, it caused her to let out a startled gasp.
After a moment, the gasp gave way to a soft moan as her eyes fluttered shut.
The sound sent a shiver down my spine, and my body begged for me to join in whatever he was doing… but we were outside. Not only that, but it was fucking cold. Neither of those facts seemed to stop Seb. In fact, if I didn’t know better, I’d say it spurred him on.
His palm slipped down her body and into the band of her PJ pants. The excitement in Mason’s eyes seemed to pierce through the night as her gaze drifted toward me. Her expression was expectant, to say the least.
“...Ain’t y’all worried about getting cold?”
Sebastian pulled away from Mason’s neck. His chest heaved as he watched her, and the two shared a laugh.
“Seriously? We’re about to fuck under the stars, and you’re worried about getting cold ?” Sebastian snorted.
I shrugged, trying to pretend that I didn’t feel a little out of place.
“I’m not worried about me … I’m worried about her.” I extended a finger toward Mason. “She’s pregnant. I don’t want to hurt the baby.”
Sebastian’s jaw was ajar as he looked at me like I was stupid. But he didn’t say anything. Instead, he pulled away slightly. For a moment, I thought I might have talked some sense into them. That thought went out the window when I noticed how Sebastian’s icy gaze devoured every inch of Mason.
“Look. She’s getting fucked one way or another. Either you join us, or you miss out.” Sebastian’s warning came out as a raspy whisper.
My attention darted to Mason, hoping she’d be rational about all of this. Unfortunately, she was worse than him.
“You did promise that we could have some fun later… and it’s later.” Her eyes met mine. The hunger in them was enough to make me sweat. She reached for my hand, pulling me closer before resting my palm on her breast. “I want you both .”
The feeling of her soft flesh under my hand was enough to send blood rushing to my cock. This wasn’t a place for us to do this, but the temptation of the two of them together was too much to resist .
So, against my better judgment, I softly massaged the area. Mason’s eyes fluttered shut as her lips parted.
“See, that’s not so bad, is it?” Sebastian cooed.
Mason gasped as I squeezed her a little harder, and Sebastian was right… This wasn’t bad, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was wrong . I’d slept with both of them before, but right now, I knew in my heart this wasn’t what I should have been doing and that it was up to me to step back.
My erection protested the idea of quitting just as the fun started, but it felt like one of the two of them was using sex to hide from something, and for the first time, it wasn’t Mason.
“Y’all have your fun,” I said, moving away from them. “I’ll wait in the truck. Once you’re done, we can head home.”
They both protested but didn’t push the issue. As I retreated into the safety of my truck, I knew Sebastian and I had to have one hell of a conversation.
Part of me hoped that when I said no, the two would follow suit. Unfortunately, I was dealing with not one but two brats. If left to her own devices, I had a feeling Mason would’a quit. But Sebastian seemed to spur on her bad behavior. Not only that, but they seemed to be louder because of me.
The sound of moans and slapping skin practically echoed in the cab of my truck as they went hard enough for the whole vehicle to rock.
When they were finished, her legs were so wobbly that she couldn’t walk to the truck cab on her own.
If that wasn’t proof enough that he did a good job fucking her, she fell asleep within ten minutes of our drive back home.
For what felt like forever, the truck fell into a comfortable silence, one only broken by the soft sounds of Mason’s breathing and the occasional passing car. A silence that lasted until Sebastian cleared his throat.
“Can I ask why you wouldn’t sleep with us?” His clipped tone hinted at the fact that I offended him .
I scratched my chin, focusing on the road, and acted like I didn’t have an answer he didn’t already know.
“I told ya, it was cold.”
“I am aware of what you said, but your body language suggested that was a lie.”
“It wasn’t a lie,” I argued. “Just a…. Half truth?”
That seemed a safe way to put it. I wasn’t interested in fucking in any conditions that’d cause my dick to freeze off, but it didn’t take a genius to know there was more to the situation.
“Then what’s the whole truth? Do you not want to fuck me anymore?” His words were laced with a type of hurt I recognized well .
It was something I’d heard in Mason’s voice when she felt like she was doing something she shouldn’t. Instantly the word unenthusiastic handjob appeared in my mind, but Seb didn’t seem like the type that could be bothered by something like that, not in the long run.
“Why do we gotta fuck? Can’t we just talk?”
My gaze drifted over just in time to see Sebastian’s jaw drop. “What–Is sex not enough?”
For the first time since meeting him, I wondered if he had more in common with Mason than I originally thought, but not in a good way.
Mason’s trauma was the kind you could work around while in a relationship, but Seb’s seemed to be the kind that stemmed from a relationship.
So, while I didn’t know the previous guy he was with or what happened between them, I knew damn sure what I needed to do now.
“Seb… I can’t do this anymore.”
