Chapter 12

“Russ!” I screamed his name as his fingers dug into my thick thighs.

“Tell me again,” he grunted forcefully.

“It’s yours. Oh my God, it’s yours.” My body shuddered as another intense orgasm ripped through me. “Ohmigod.”

“Fuck,” he swore as I clamped down around him.

He felt like he was deeper than ever and the growl that came out of him sent a tingle down my spine.

I felt hornier, wetter, as I ground against him.

The dick had never felt so good. I didn’t even think I could come again, but I was chasing it.

He must’ve felt what I felt because the way he started fucking me was reckless.

His long, deep strokes were coming faster and faster, as if he was losing control.

“Wait,” he groaned hoarsely as I locked my legs around his waist to pull him closer.

I opened my eyes just in time to see his handsome face contort as he stiffened. With three violent jolts, he grunted through his release.

It was sexy as hell.

The sunlight poured into the room, casting a glow behind his muscular frame. His chest heaved and his biceps flexed. Just looking at him in the aftermath of his orgasm caused me to clench.

Breathing heavily, he fell forward, caging me with his arms. “Shit,” he breathed before covering my mouth with his.

When he finally rolled off me, I brought my hands to my racing heart. “Good morning,” I murmured.

He reached for one of my hands and brought it to his lips. “Any morning I get to wake up to you is a good morning.”

I bit my lip to keep from smiling. “You’re getting soft on me?”

With a smirk, he looked down at his semihard dick, slick with my juices, and then back at me. “We both know you keep me hard.”

I giggled.

And almost simultaneously, we both jerked our heads back to his dick.

“What the fuck!” he exclaimed, sitting up.

My eyes bulged. “Where the hell is the condom?” I asked frantically.

I attempted to sit up, but he put his hand on my belly to keep me in place. With his brows furrowed in worry, he commanded, “Let me see if it’s in you.”

I parted my legs, and I could tell something was up by the way his eyes widened.

“Shit,” he muttered.

“What?”

The pressure of his fingers against my still-tender flesh caused me to suck in air sharply. He pulled out a beaten and battered condom. When he held it up, the hole in it was painfully obvious.

I squeezed my eyes shut. No, no, no, no, no, no.

“Are you, uh…” Russ tossed the tattered condom toward the trash can with his right hand. “Are you on any type of birth control?”

I pushed myself up into a sitting position and took a deep breath. “Yeah, but we should also pick up an emergency contraceptive on the way home.”

He nodded. “We can do that. Are you okay?”

“I mean, it’s not ideal, but I’m okay.” I paused for a moment. “Obviously, this means testing needs to take place.”

He nodded. “Yeah, yeah, of course.” He scrubbed his face with his hands. “I can get it done today. I’ll get my assistant to set something up.”

Staring straight ahead, my mind was going a mile a minute. “Yeah. I’m going to call my gynecologist to make an appointment.”

“I leave town tonight for a meeting tomorrow morning back in New York. I’m back here on Thursday for some stuff with the house. The results should be in by then. My last test came back negative. I expect it to be the same.”

“Same.”

We were both quiet.

Sunlight filled the room as the stark silence surrounded us. When I looked over at him, he was staring at me.

“I should’ve fucking known.” I shook my head. “It always feels good, but it was feeling extra good and…” My sentence trailed off.

He reached over and put his hand on my thigh. “I was lost in it… in you.”

“I would’ve never locked my legs around you if I was thinking clearly.”

He licked his lips. “When you locked in, I lost it.”

The conversation shouldn’t have made me tingle, but it did. Shifting uncomfortably, I said, “As good as the dick is—and believe me, it’s good—I’m trying to avoid pregnancy at all costs.”

“Hell yeah. I’m right there with you.” His phone rang but he continued holding my gaze. “We’ll get the emergency contraceptive on the way, and then I’ll get you home on time, as promised. You’ll get to your meeting. I’ll get to my meetings. Everything will be fine. I’ll handle it.”

I climbed off the bed and stood on wobbly legs. Pointing to his phone, I quirked an eyebrow. “You can get that,” I told him.

He exhaled, reached for the ringing device. “It’s work.”

“Take it. I’m going to take a shower so we can get going. I have that meeting at noon.”

Instead of answering his phone, he followed me to the bathroom. Leaning against the doorjamb, he watched me in the mirror.

“Getting my essentials,” I told him, even though he didn’t ask. I moved the bodywash and face scrub from the counter to the bathtub ledge.

“I meant what I said about seeing you more since I’ll be local,” he stated.

I grabbed the towel and washcloth and sat it on the counter. “I meant it, too. I enjoy being with you.”

“I enjoy you, too.” He gestured to his dick, hanging long and thick between his strong thighs. “And I don’t just mean sexually. It just so happens that when I look at you, over there jiggling like that, I react to it.”

I giggled, rolling my eyes. “You’re so ridiculous.”

He just stared at me with this look that made goose bumps spread over my skin. “I’m serious though. I enjoy your conversation”—he took a step forward—“your company”—he got behind me and wrapped his arms around my middle—“and the way you think.”

Sighing, I leaned back into him. “I feel the same way.”

“You do.”

It wasn’t a question. It was more of a clarifying statement.

We gazed at each other for a moment, letting the admission settle around us.

He broke the silence first. “I’m not having sex with anyone else.”

“I’m not either,” I murmured.

Moving his hands from my belly, he gripped my hips. “Let’s keep it that way.”

I cocked my head to the side. “What do you mean?”

“Let these other dudes know you’re not available anymore.”

A chill ran down my spine as I felt the emotions I’d been avoiding bubble up. “You want to be exclusive?”

“Yes. I want you exclusively to myself.” He ran his tongue from one corner of his mouth to the other. “And I don’t share what’s mine.”

I bit my lip and tried my hardest not to grin. “What if I’m not looking to be in a relationship?”

With his eyes trained on our reflection, he kissed me behind my ear. “What if you found one anyway?” he whispered.

“So, you’re telling me you’re my man now?”

He leaned down and whispered in my ear. “Are you telling me I’m not?”

A chill ran through my body. “Russ…”

Nuzzling his nose into my hair, he inhaled deeply. “Are you mine, Nina?”

My heart, stomach, and pussy thumped in response. “Yes.”

The answer burst out of me in a quiet huff.

Turning me around, he grabbed my face. “Say it.”

I inhaled shakily. “I’m yours.”

“Good.” He planted the sweetest, most tender kiss against my lips. “I love to hear you say it.”

Do I… have a boyfriend?

The only thing that would change on my end was that I’d have to let The Funny One and The Smart One go. But in that moment, I realized that didn’t feel like a loss. The two of them combined couldn’t compare to Russ.

This is really happening.

I was in a state of shock.

Within thirty minutes, we were in the car, making our way back to Richland.

With one stop at the local pharmacy and then another at a coffee shop, we battled Monday rush hour traffic.

Even though I was still in a state of shock, I was surprisingly sure of my decision.

And I could only attribute that to the realization that while everything happened so fast, nothing changed.

We agreed to exclusivity and then everything was the exact same as it was before.

It was the same fun-filled road trip that it was on our journey there. I typically would’ve avoided allowing a man to drop me off at home. But it was Russ, and apparently, he was my man. So, I gave him my address and allowed him to bring me through the gate and into my complex.

“Okay, I see you,” he acknowledged appreciatively. “This is cool.”

I smiled proudly, even though I’d had nothing to do with the gorgeous architecture of the converted warehouses, the beautiful landscaping surrounding the artistic marvel of a fountain, or the resort-style pool that peeked from the side of the first building.

“Thank you.” I pointed out the building on the corner. “That one is me.”

“When you said you lived in a converted warehouse, I didn’t imagine this.”

“Some of the buildings were designed to look like they were part of the original tobacco warehouses. Mine is new construction, but it still has the cool feel.”

“I look forward to seeing it sometime,” he said as he pulled in front of my building.

“And I look forward to seeing the house you’ve built,” I returned.

He chuckled as he parked illegally. “You’re right. But I gave you the address so, even though I haven’t moved in, you know where my house is.”

“True.” I reached in the backseat to grab my bag and he tried to stop me.

“What are you doing?” I wondered.

“I got your bag. I’ll walk you to your door.”

“You can’t park right here, and security does not play. And for me to get the guest parking pass would take too much time.” I leaned over and kissed him. “I promise I won’t think you’re less of a gentleman. But I really have to go.”

He opened his door at the same time I did, and as I grabbed my bag out of the backseat, he pursed his lips. “Nina.”

I nodded my head behind him. “See?”

He glanced in the direction of security and made a face. “Gahdamn, I’ve been parked for sixty seconds.”

I smiled ruefully as he met me on my side of the car. “That’s all it takes.”

“I’m going to tell him I’m dropping off my girlfriend. He’ll understand.”

Girlfriend.
