Epilogue

One year later . . .

“I swear I can’t believe how cute he is.” Cashmere gushed as they walked toward the waiting SUV.

Savio chuckled as his hand found her round stomach. “Not cuter than our baby.”

Cashmere giggled. “Not too much on TJ. We don’t even know what our baby will look like. He or she might have your big ass head.”

“Aye, man. Watch out.” Savio playfully mushed her in the head before he opened her door for her.

Cashmere giggled, but she knew Savio was head over heels in love with Tyler Junior, just like he was in love with their unborn baby. She was only three months pregnant, but from the moment Savio found out he was going to be a father, he had been all smiles.

Being around TJ healed them both in ways Cashmere never would have thought.

Nola had taken it really well when they told her Ivoree was the one who killed Twizz.

Knowing his killer was dead gave her peace.

That felt complicated to Cashmere because even though she had grown to resent her sister, and even despise her some days, she didn’t find peace in her death.

She could understand why others would though.

They climbed into the back seat of the SUV, and Cashmere’s head of security waited until their seat belts were secure before she drove.

Leah had been her new head of security for months now, and Cashmere hoped she’d never leave.

Savio had a hard time accepting that someone new had taken over his position, especially a woman, but he quickly realized that Leah was perfect for the job.

Who would have thought that after all those security guards, putting a woman in charge would ease Cashmere’s mind?

Or maybe it was Savio who settled her down some and made her less mean.

Either way, they lived in the perfect situation at the moment.

Savio had taken time off to do . . . nothing.

In fact, Cashmere had taken a bit of a step back from the council to do nothing with him.

She was still in the council, she just delegated a lot more, something King Ro had always encouraged them to do.

They were there to oversee their operations, not run them.

Some of them understood that a lot more than others.

She settled in for the ride to Ellwood. It didn’t take long for Savio to ask, “Aye, where we goin’?”

“I have some work to handle in Ellwood,” Cashmere casually responded.

Really, he had no idea that she was about to introduce him to the council.

It had only taken her so long because Savio had been adamant about taking time off.

Technically, since he was her husband, he was a part of the council, too, by default, but she didn’t want to put that workload on him until he was ready.

Lately, he had been talking about asking Marcellus for a new assignment. He felt antsy and like he needed to make more money before the baby came. Cashmere thought that was cute. He didn’t exactly know the goldmine she sat on, but he would find out soon just how rich they were.

The rest of the ride was silent. When they pulled up to the building where the meeting was held this month, Savio got out of the car and helped her out.

“Did I tell you how good you look today, Precious?”

“A few times.” She smirked and put a little extra sway in her hips as they walked into the building. She knew she needed to stop. This was how she ended up pregnant in the first place, but she couldn’t help but tease her husband. It was one of her favorite things to do.

When they got to the top floor of the building, Cashmere stopped and turned to Savio. With all the love in her gaze, she pulled him into her and held him around his waist. He looked down at her with curiosity dancing in his eyes.

“You know those super-secret meetings I attend once a month?” she asked nervously.

He cocked his head to the side. “Yeah.”

She offered him a sheepish smile before she pushed away from him and opened the door for him. “Welcome to the council, baby.”

Cashmere’s smile turned to a beam as she looked at the man who had guarded her heart with the greatest force mankind had ever seen.

She watched as he took in King Ro’s words, bringing him up to speed on who the council was and all the rules.

She cried when he was sworn in as a member, and her heart swelled with pride as she watched him get acquainted with all the members.

Savio was one of a kind. It took him entering her life to realize that she was worthy of love and so much more. He made her realize just how precious she was, and she thanked God every day that she was chosen to forever be his Precious Cargo.
