Chapter 6
Dinner is delicious as always. Dale has been our chef for years, even cooks at Lavo, and while his meals are fantastic, there's something about having Kat and Addy prepare a meal for us that makes it taste that much better.
Tonight, though, I couldn’t even tell you what was on my plate despite eating every bit.
Something much more appealing—well, someone—occupies my mind.
Oliver was right; Kat is beautiful, intelligent, caring, and mine, and despite my brother having called dibs on her tonight, I don’t have it in me to let him have that time alone with her.
No, I’d been serious about making him share, especially after Vince so kindly interrupted this morning.
I know it was necessary, but my balls don’t seem to give a fuck about that. Kat’s already hard to resist, but after over twenty-four hours of being teased, walking around hard and aching…
Well, the only reason I’m not eating Kat for dinner on this table is the tiny girl beside her.
Though my mind can easily picture it all the same.
“Alex.”
I blink away the vision of Kat spread out on the table for me, wet and whiny, and curse myself for letting myself picture it so vividly.
Adjusting, I look up to find Kat watching me, her eyes full of mild confusion as she looks me over.
She’s so innocent that there’s no way she will understand what ails me on her own. Thankfully, Des is quick to step in.
He pushes up from his chair, moving down the table to reach for the salad bowl. Which leaves him right in Kat’s ear, and the smile that twists his lips tells me just how much he enjoys teasing her.
I know the second she understands, as her face turns the most beautiful shade of red and her gaze becomes fixed on her lap.
“Desmond,” Nathan says in a voice that's meant to warn him away, but the damage is done, and Nathan doesn’t sound all that serious if you ask me. Des leaves the salad behind as he moves back to his seat, a self-satisfied smile on his face, and when he meets my gaze, he winks.
The little shit.
He’s been nothing but ecstatic since this morning. I don’t blame him; as much as I enjoy sharing, having Kat one-on-one is…
There aren’t really words for it.
Des sent both Nathan and me a few pictures, providing the ultimate distraction and a new kink I didn’t know I had, much to Vince’s annoyance. They’re now in a secure folder on my phone, which I have every intention of filling.
Before I can stop myself, I’m fishing my phone from my pocket.
Just a quick peek.
“Oh! No phones at the table!” Addy shouts, and I can hear the smile on her little face.
She got me.
She reaches out, wiggling her little fingers as she waits for me to hand it over. Thankfully, I didn’t make it to the photos, so I can, but I think I have a better idea.
“It’s something for work, so how about I hand it to Uncle Vince so that if it's really important, he can let me know.” She purses her lips as she thinks it over before giving a nod and turning back to Kat and Oliver to keep talking about some princess movie she wants to see.
Oliver has always been her go-to for that kind of thing; he takes her to the theater for every new showing. It’s something just for them, but now it seems they have a new member, and with how red his ears are, I’d say this will be good for them.
Vince walks around the table, his eyes narrowing as he moves toward me, and I take the few moments I have to click into the folder, picking a picture that isn’t too revealing but enough.
It’s mostly Kat’s back; just the slight swell of her ass is visible, her head is resting on her arms that are folded on the bed, fingers dug into the sheets, and if you didn’t know what was happening based on that, her face sure as hell tells you.
She’d been so lost in her pleasure I’d be shocked if she even registered he took the picture, but it’s perfect, raw, and real, and, fucking hell, this was meant to tease Vince, not me.
He can act like our little redheaded beauty isn’t getting under his skin, but I know better. Vince and Nathan have been friends since they were teenagers, and as much as we might butt heads often, he’s family now, and I know him better than he would ever care to admit.
Which is proven when he walks past, grabs my phone, and does a double-take.
His eyes snap up to meet mine, narrowing as his nostrils flare.
It’s nothing huge, and I’m sure nobody else noticed, but it’s enough for me. Getting any kind of response from Vince is a win in my book.
I think I’ve found a new game; this is going to be fun.
He tucks my phone into his pocket and goes back to sit in his seat.
Vince is the only one allowed to use tech at the table, a rule we had even before Kat came around. We live hectic lives, and she deserves our full attention whenever we can give it. Obviously, some things can’t be avoided, which is why we give Vince the power to overrule that as needed.
Thankfully, it doesn’t happen often, and family dinner has become something we all look forward to, now even more so than before.
I take a sip of my beer and watch Oliver and Kat make Addy dissolve into a fit of giggles. The tension is still there, but I have a feeling it won’t last.
Like the rest of us, Oliver never stood a chance.
I look down the table at Vince, who is talking to Nathan, and watch his eyes flick to Addy and then Kat before moving back to Nathan, who raises a brow in question.
He can only pretend he’s ‘doing his job’ for so long, and that’s running out.
Yeah, Kat is a damn force of nature, and I’ve never been so excited to see the destruction she’s about to cause.
I make my way up to Nathan's office, where I hope to find him before he starts his night with Kat. Tonight, Oli is reading to Addy, which means I might just have to let myself into the bedroom, but I’d hoped to talk to Nathan first.
He’s right where I’d hoped he would be, but I can see that his mind isn’t really in what he’s doing.
“Brother.” He gives me a nod but doesn’t spare me more than a glance.
“Someone’s in a hurry,” I huff a laugh as I walk in and drop into the chair opposite him.
This time, he looks up at me, and I see the desire in his eyes.
“What did you do?” I sit forward, bracing my hands on the edge of his desk, daring him to look away.
He doesn’t, of course, not; whatever it is, he’s proud of himself.
“I have a present waiting for me back in my room.”
The image of Kat in nothing but ribbons and bows, laid out on his bed, assaults me, and I’m not sure that’s what he meant, but that has to happen.
I file the idea away for later; I might have just found the perfect present for all of us this year.
“You know presents are better shared, right?” I half expect him to tell me to get fucked, but his lips twitch up in the hint of a smile, his attention not moving away from his PC as he does God knows what.
“Of course, the more, the merrier.”
Well, if that’s not a great opener, then I’m not sure what is.
“Speaking of sharing…”
That gets his attention, and he gives me his full attention now, at least for the moment.
“How long are you going to let your friend pretend he’s not as fucked as the rest of us?”
“So you noticed that too?”
I wave him off as I push to stand, moving to the bar cart under the window to pour myself a little something to help me relax.
I’m not sure I love the idea of Vince pursuing Kat, but I’ve yet to see her show any sign of discomfort around him.
If anything, she’d gravitated toward him even more since he'd saved her from Carter.
It might have been his job, but I’d still be forever grateful that he put comforting her over pursuing him.
We will eventually get Carter, and he will also be a big player in that.
No, we might not always get along, but I wouldn’t dare deny Kat what she wants when it’s something so easy to give her and only makes our family closer.
So long as Nathan has no issues with it, this could actually be a lot of fun.
“I’d have to be blind and stupid not to notice. Though Kat seems just as oblivious as ever about him, the same as with Oliver.”
Nathan huffs a laugh, and I pour him a shot as well, bringing it to him. I come to a grinding halt when my eyes finally see what he’d been so interested in on the monitor.
Kat is in the middle of her room, dressed in… Fuck, I’m not even sure if you can call her dressed with that on.
Nathan pulls the glass from my hand, throwing it back in a single gulp before pushing to stand.
“Vince is going to be difficult.” He moves past me to set his glass on the cart, leaving me to watch Kat look at herself in the mirror, my drink forgotten. “I think we let Kat handle him. If anyone can, it will be her.”
I nod, licking my lips as she moves to the bed to grab a robe that’s far too short to cover enough before she slips out of the room, and suddenly I’m freed as if from a spell.
“My present is almost ready,” Nathan says from not far behind me as we watch the feeds. She moves down the hall as if afraid of being caught, and with what she’s wearing, I can appreciate that.
She’s still far too modest, but I’m sure we can help her with that.
Biting her lip, she pushes open Nathan’s door, darts inside, and closes it behind her. She’s breathing hard as she presses her back to the hardwood for a moment, collecting herself.
I almost feel bad for watching her, almost, but not quite.
Any guilt I had disappears when she slips the robe off and hangs it behind the door, moving to the dresser and lighting candles as she goes.
Once they're lit, she moves to the bed, standing beside it for a moment before she climbs up to sit in the center, her knees tucked under her, her hands folded in her lap as she takes deep, calming breaths.
Fuck.
“Such a good girl.” I hear the reverence in his tone.
“Always.”
“We shouldn’t leave her waiting.” That’s worth looking away for, and I’m almost shocked to find him already headed toward the door.
“No, we shouldn’t. I had other things we need to discuss, but they can wait.” I’m not sure he will love the idea of a contract; I still don’t, but fuck if I can worry about that right now.
“Everything can wait.”
I’m not sure anyone has ever spoken truer words.
