Stalker
“Have a seat, Joe. You look like you could use a drink,” Bull offered.
Scarelli dropped into a nearby chair and groaned.
“Thanks, Bull. I’ll take a beer. Anything will do.
I swear to God, I’m going to lose my hair one of these days.
Talbot just won’t give up on shit. He thinks he knows everything.
And then the fact that it’s got something to do with the Warriors only makes him worse.
He dreams of the day he’ll find a way to take down the entire Warriors chapter.
I can’t tell you how often he comes to me with asinine attempts to go after your club.
“It was why I put Oberlin in charge of anything to do with this place and its people. He might be friendly, but if anyone here were guilty of truly terrible things, he wouldn’t allow you to slide.
Talbot needs to worry about the idiots out there that don’t have people like you watching out for the victim or victims.”
He looked over at Breezy and Daya. “Ladies, I’m truly sorry for my officer’s terrible behavior. Sometimes, he does good work, but not when it comes to anything tied to this club. I’m Chief Scarelli, Joe. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
He held out his hand and gave them a charming smile. They got up and went to him. Predator and I went with them. After they shook his hand and said hello, he raised his gaze to us.
“So, I was told you two are with Dayanara. Right?”
“Yeah, Predator and I are both with Dayanara. She just got her property cut before that dumbass Talbot came barging in here,” I informed the chief.
He groaned and slapped his forehead. “Christ, he ruined your claiming ceremony. He’s damn lucky you didn’t beat him black and blue.
I’m sorry. So, both of you are the lucky men.
I swear, Bull, you keep attracting the best women around for your brothers.
If I were a few years younger, I’d ask you to find me someone,” Scarelli joked.
Bull chuckled. “All you gotta do is say the word, Joe, and I’ll rustle you one up. You’ve been divorced long enough.”
“Nah, I’ve been single so long that if I tried, I’d probably keel over.”
“I was single for over twenty years when I met Jocelyn. You see how much better my life is with her,” Pres reminded him.
“Thanks,” Scarelli told Ivan, as he handed him a beer. “I know, I know, but I don’t think I should chance it. Back to these two lovely ladies. Has your brother stopped harassing you? We haven’t had any more calls into the station.”
“Yes, he hasn’t been in contact with us.
Things are strained between us, as you can imagine.
He’s mad that I’m with both Stalker and Predator.
He believes Breezy stays only due to me.
Jess likes to forget we’re both adults and capable of making our own decisions.
Hopefully, he’ll get over it soon. We miss him,” Daya told Scarelli smoothly.
“Yes, we do love and miss him. Chief Scarelli, why would Officer Talbot be so emphatic about the idea that either of us, anyone in our family, has had contact with Marshall Webb? It’s stupid.
Yes, our brother was his best friend growing up and even into adulthood, but after what happened, Jess wanted nothing to do with him,” Breezy asked.
The chief remained quiet for several moments before answering.
“You’ll probably hear it anyway. It seems Webb got out of prison on a Saturday night, saw his parole officer on Monday, and that was the last anyone heard from him.
He missed his Monday visit, and there’s been no answer at his house or via phone.
Talbot suspects foul play. Personally, I think he’s hiding in his house out of shame.
His ankle monitor indicates that he’s at home.
But if he’s truly gone, he’ll screw up sometime, and then you can bet he’ll be caught and his ass will be back in prison.
Just don’t let Talbot worry you. If he tries to pull shit again, call me.
I won’t have him stirring up people he shouldn’t. ”
“Thank you, we will,” our woman and Breezy stated together.
From there, Scarelli stuck around and had a catch-up with Bull, Bear, and Tank. They were the oldest ones in the chapter and had known him the longest. For a cop, he was entirely at ease in a room full of bikers.
When asked how he got there so quickly and who called him, he confessed.
“Joker sent me a message, but I was already on my way. I’d heard at the station that Talbot had taken Mahoney to see the Warriors.
I had to come. I was almost here when I got the text.
I swear, if he does one more thing, it’ll be his last disciplinary action.
He’ll be suspended pending investigation.
Between us, I spoke to HR and legal. They say we have enough to terminate.
I’m debating whether I should just pull the trigger on it tonight.
It would save me a ton of headaches,” Joe grumbled.
“It’s up to you. But if he comes near them again with that attitude, I will file a complaint against him,” Brae told him.
“I wouldn’t blame you. We haven’t met yet. You have to be Braelyn Lane, Loki’s old lady. I heard about you. I’m Joe. It’s wonderful to meet you, too,” Scarelli said, holding out his hand.
As Brae took it, Scarelli continued speaking.
“Man, the club keeps expanding, Bull. Remember back when you first started it. Who would’ve imagined having four locations, let alone that this one and Dublin Falls would grow to this size?
And all the women and kids that come along with it. You’re lucky. A ton of family.”
“I am damn lucky. But you know, there’s more than blood family.”
“I do. And I’d better find some. All I have is my youngest brother’s daughter.
I’m hoping to get her to move here one day.
We’ll see. Well, I’d better get home. Let me know if you have more trouble with pigheaded Talbot.
Have a great night. And again, it was nice to meet you ladies, and congratulations on the property cut, Dayanara. ”
It took him several minutes to get through the goodbyes before he was out the door. It was telling that Bull had no one accompany him.
“He’s really nice,” Breezy remarked.
“He is. And he knows that we’re not lilywhite, and he guesses at what we do and to whom.
As long as we steer clear of innocent people, he turns a blind eye.
Due to the club, crime is low around Hunters Creek.
He knows it’s because of us, and he appreciates it.
Makes his job easier and his officers safer,” Bull explained.
“It’s a pity that not all his people see it that way,” Daya said.
“It is, but we appreciate the ones who are like Zev. Speaking of him, Raina, check and see what he and Zev Jr. are doing for Christmas and New Year’s Eve,” Bull said.
“I will. I know they spent Thanksgiving with distant family, but that isn’t normal, and it didn’t turn out to be much fun from what he said,” Raina revealed.
“Tell him they have an open invite here for all holidays and family days. Hell, if he wants a place to hang out to relax, he can come to the clubhouse. I’m still determined to get his ass to join. He can be like Law. Zev is wavering. I feel it,” Bull said, smiling.
This remark got cheers from the brothers and smiles from the ladies. When Bull was determined, nothing stood in his way.
