Blurb

The day of the wedding of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy has finally dawned.

Their love story has been one of great accord, although there were times when it seemed that family, friends, and acquaintances seemed determined to toss stones in their path.

Mr Collins, the parson of Darcy’s overbearing aunt and the heir presumptive of the Bennet estate, surprised everyone by arriving to meet the family and – he hoped – choose his future bride among the Bennet daughters.

He is surprised to have come just in time to witness a wedding, but he proves himself quite willing to be pleased by everyone he meets and almost everything he sees, smells, and tastes.

There is a moment in the Church of England’s marriage liturgy when the vicar asks about any possible impediments to the marriage. Would you believe that there is not one, but two responses?

– when there ought to have been none!
