Chapter 26 #2
“How long is a while?” I kept my voice soft, refusing to disturb the fragile air of the moment.
My question seemed to hold a heavier weight than I had expected, and Ace’s hands squeezed my waist more firmly before releasing.
“Long enough,” he murmured. “I’ve seen more than I should, Eve. Seeing far into the future can be a curse that spends years torturing you. Especially when you don’t get to see all the circumstances.”
I nodded slightly. Precognition had its faults, making it unreliable if situations changed drastically.
His hands drifted up my sides, over my ribs, and eventually up to either side of my neck. “There’s one vision I saw that I refuse to believe doesn’t come to fruition. I know in my gut that it’s the truth.”
The way he spoke of whatever he’d seen made it clear that this wasn’t just some mundane vision. “What is it?”
“I want you to see it for yourself.”
“What? How?” My brows pinched together in confusion.
“Echo my abilities. Try to see through my mind’s eye. Let your precognition intertwine with mine.”
He made it sound so easy. It was something I had never done before, something I didn’t even know could be done.
“Taste me, Little Spade,” he said as his lips brushed mine.
Ace slid a hand onto the back of my neck, fingers threading into my hair as our mouths came together.
His tongue pressed against the seam of my mouth, parting my lips as the kiss deepened. At that moment, I focused on my precognition all while trying to reach out and echo his.
Nothing happened. Everything felt blank for one disappointing moment. Then, everything shifted, sharp and stifling inside my mind’s eye. Flashes of an aura that was not my own greeted the tendrils of my power.
Our bodies pressed together until there was no space left between us physically, while our respective precognitive abilities merged together. The surge of sensation through my mind’s eye and into my body bordered on suffocating.
Driving my thoughts towards the longer term, I could see visions I’d never seen before. They weren’t from my perspective. They were through Ace’s eyes.
The rooftop of Sevenfold had been converted to an event space. Expensive blooms decorated the space in massive archways, providing shade from the blistering sun. My suspenders underneath my jacket cut into my shoulders where tension had been gathering for weeks.
Music from the quartet played distantly, but my focus was on the strip of fabric creating an aisle for my Little Spade to walk down past row after row of Superbia’s finest. At the far end, I expected to see her any moment.
She’d show. That wasn’t a question.
Eve wouldn’t turn down the opportunity to show off whatever gown had cost me a small fortune.
It all happened in the blink of an eye. The aisle remained empty until it wasn’t.
The gown was secondary to the aura radiating off her. Rich purple hues with streaks of my precognitive aura blended in, creating a vibrant watercolor of beauty.
There was nothing else in that moment but the knowledge that she would be linked to me in the only way left for us to come together. No longer would she be Genevieve Bechette, but Mrs. Eve Reynard.
Seeing her come down that aisle towards me, I knew I’d never draw a luckier hand than that of making that final claim on my Little Spade.
Coming up for air from the vision, Ace and I were in an even more heated embrace than we had been before my mind slipped away. My legs were wrapped around his waist.
Both of us were panting heavily, Ace already tugging impatiently at the strings of my bikini until the scraps of fabric fell away from my body.
The energy between us had escalated into something surpassing all logic.
Echoing his precognition in a way that merged our abilities had been nothing short of euphoric.
He dove back in to devour me with his mouth, his cock already freed from his shorts.
“I’m not asking, Eve,” he rasped between hungry kisses. “I just need to hear you say it.”
Whatever response I could have given got lost when my brain short-circuited as his cock slid home. My walls clenched around the thickness of him as he filled me deep, making sure that I felt all of him.
I cried out in relief of the ache that only he managed to relieve.
Words spilled out of me in nonsensical half-sentences as pleasure sparked through my body like fireworks along every nerve ending. My hips rolled against him, needing the movement more than I needed air.
Ace’s hands dropped to my hips and anchored me to him. All effort to grind against him stalled as he kept himself buried inside me.
“I’ll fuck you however you want, after you tell me what I want to hear.” The strain in his voice sounded like glass over gravel, the verge of something breaking against every foundation he had.
It was difficult to think when everything in me demanded, needed, more of him. I didn’t just want his cock, but I wanted to taste more of the very essence that fed pieces of my soul.
My nails scored harsh red lines across his shoulders. “Yes. I want it. I want you.”
The rooftop. His name. That fucking phenomenal dress that screamed I’d be the inspiration for every little demon girl’s dream wedding.
Everything in me knew that, on a metaphysical level, we completed each other in ways that were barely understood. I’d never be able to get enough of that sensation. Even if it meant spending the next few millennia screaming at him for being an arrogant and overbearing prick.
A deep groan came out of Ace as he pressed harder into me, small grinding movements following it.
His runes were already cutting through his flesh with hellfire contrasting against the teal water surrounding us. But it was the hunger in his eyes that captured my attention. The dark possession in them still lingered there, but there was more to it than that as he held my gaze.
Something that looked dangerously close to devotion.
Ace didn’t make me a promise, he made me a vow.
“Hearts get given away. Spades take what they want.” He paused. “I’m yours to take, Eve.”
