If I wanted to meet, then meet. If it didn’t work, so be it!
He was going back to K University next semester anyway.
By then, we wouldn’t be in this student-teacher “class” divide anymore.
I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon.
Tao Zi always had the best intel. She said according to reliable sources, the Physics Department’s hottest Visiting Scholar Shen Xiuming would finish his last substitute class next week and leave.
The rest would be taken over by another physics teacher.
People who got the inside scoop had already started massive threads on the campus forum.
Stolen videos and photos of Shen Xiuming were everywhere.
I saved them while frantically thinking how to come clean to Shen Xiuming.

I decided to calm down at the library and find some courage.
Carrying a stack of books, I finally found an empty spot in a corner of the original-texts section.
This position was hard to spot from outside—otherwise the grad-school hopefuls would have taken it already.
I pulled out my phone, pasted the prepared text from my notes into the chat:

Three simple lines. I read them over and over, finally gathering the courage to hit send—

“Xiuming, you’re leaving too suddenly. Can’t handle the enthusiasm of our school girls anymore?”
“Don’t joke like that. I’m not interested in little kids.”
“Just kidding. I know your standards are high. I heard your academic partner from abroad is back in the country? Is this trip because of her—”
